HOW CAN YOU ENSURE A RAILING IS SAFE? (Culled from an online post on the Importance of Railings for Safety; April 6, 2017, By MMC Fencing & Railing).

As you must have known or if I may assume you are unaware; simply installing a railing on a flight of stairs, a platform or a ramp is not just enough to attain safety. There are certain tips to follow to make certain that your railing is safe. This includes;

* ABIDE BY ALL APPLICABLE BUILDING CODES
As you likely know, railings are not optional when one builds a flight of stairs, a balcony, or a deck. Because they are so effective in improving safety, they are required in many public and commercial areas. In fact, any open-sided walking surface more than 750mm off the ground necessitates a guardrail.

So if you want to ensure that your railing is completely safe, check that it adheres to all applicable building codes. Regulations for railings vary depending on the location (residential building, commercial building, stairway, deck, etc.). However, most regulations specify important criteria like the required height of the railing, how large the openings of the interior section can be, where handrails are required, the continuity of the rail, and how high the bottom rail is from the surface beneath, and so on. * PURCHASE YOUR RAILING FROM A REPUTABLE COMPANY
Unless you are fully confident in your construction skills or you are a certified Installer, do not attempt to DIY a railing. How Important Is Railings For Safety?

Do you know that a railing is a structure made of a rail, often connecting a series of upright members, that is used as a guard or barrier or for support, as on a balcony or next to a staircase.

Have you ever thought of waking up to find out that the railings in your residence just suddenly disappeared? It is obvious that you will feel a high level of threat to your safety.
