Nairaland GeneralQNET Adopts Proactive Reputation Strategy For 2026 by Onaope22(op): 10:20am On Feb 23
By Funmilola Gboteku

QNET is repositioning its public engagement strategy for 2026, placing transparency, regulatory compliance, and ethical entrepreneurship at the centre of its operations across Sub-Saharan Africa.

At a New Year media webinar themed “Setting the Narrative for the Year,” company executives signalled a decisive move from reactive crisis responses to proactive reputation management, underscoring a renewed emphasis on fact-based communication and structured stakeholder engagement.

Moderator Kolade Dominate opened the session by stressing the media’s role in shaping public perception and the importance of deliberate messaging in correcting misconceptions that have trailed the direct selling industry.

Reflecting on the company’s 2025 engagements, Deputy Regional General Manager for QNET Sub-Saharan Africa, Cherif Bassirou Abdoulaye Sarr, acknowledged that media collaboration played a significant role in dispelling misinformation and strengthening public confidence in the company’s business model.

He disclosed that in 2026, the company will intensify its focus on innovation, strategic alliances, and responsible entrepreneurship under the theme “Energised Every Day,” while strengthening compliance frameworks and stakeholder dialogue mechanisms.

Regional Legal Counsel, Kwasi Fredua Agyeman Danso, reinforced the importance of credible journalism in clarifying operational structures and distinguishing legitimate direct selling from fraudulent schemes.

He emphasised that sustained partnerships with reputable media platforms remain critical in reinforcing trust among consumers and regulators.

Beyond communication strategy, QNET’s Sub-Saharan Africa public relations leadership outlined structured transparency initiatives for the year ahead, including expanded journalist participation in global conventions, regional forums, and product education expos aimed at deepening understanding of the company’s offerings.

Delivering the keynote, General Manager of QNET Nigeria, Ayokunmi Solesi, described 2026 as a year of “structured narrative leadership,” built on three strategic pillars: entrepreneurship development, compliance and consumer protection, and wellness-driven product innovation.

He noted that while ethical direct selling presents opportunities in economies with limited formal employment, the company remains firm on zero tolerance for regulatory breaches, brand misuse, or fraudulent recruitment activities.

According to Solesi, Nigeria remains a priority growth market within Africa, with plans to scale public education on direct selling practices, enhance collaboration with regulators, and reinforce consumer protection mechanisms.

He maintained that long-term brand strength will depend on sustained engagement, transparent operations, and fact-driven discourse.

“As our engagement becomes more consistent and grounded in verifiable information, confidence in the brand will naturally strengthen,” Solesi said, expressing optimism about the company’s strategic direction in 2026.
Nairaland GeneralNGO To Empower 1000 Less-privileged With Business Grants, Vocational Training by Onaope22(op): 6:00pm On Dec 27, 2025
By Stellamaris Ashinze

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Together Inspiring Kindness Family (TIKFamily) says it’s targeting empowering no fewer than 1,000 less-privileged persons for its 2025 annual festive outreach.

The Coordinator of the NGO, Mr Samuel Adelaja, said, during the outreach on Wednesday in Lagos, that the initiative aimed at bridging the gap between the rich and the poor during the Yuletide and other festive periods.

Adelaja said that the group, which comprised professionals from various parts of the world, had been organising the initiative for five years.

He said that it was funded through the personal contributions of members and friends, adding that, since inception, it had reached hundreds of beneficiaries across different locations.

The coordinator said: “We as a group have already reached hundreds of people across different locations, but our goal for 2025 is to impact 1,000 lives.

“We have programmes rolled out throughout the year, but this particular one is unique because we are extending it to different parts of the country, apart from Lagos State.

“Our aim is to reach out to the less-privileged, who are wondering where their next meal will come from during this festive season.

“We want to encourage others to show kindness so that the world can be a better place.”

Another member of the group, Mr Adewumi Mogaji, said that the NGO’s focus was shifting towards sustainable empowerment, particularly for the youth.

Mogaji said that the focus was to prevent political manipulation and social vices being committed by youths.

He also noted the need for the group to grow beyond self funding, adding that it was open to partnerships with corporate bodies and individuals to expand its reach in 2026.

“We intend to impact teenagers and youths through vocational training and empowerment. When people are stabilised and can stand on their own, they cannot be easily manipulated by politicians.

“We have seen cases where as little as N20,000 can start a business for someone in need.

“If we can get more support from the government and private sector, we intend to reach as many as 20,000 people in the coming years,” he said.

A beneficiary, Mrs Fatou Bangura, shared a testimony of how the group transformed her life with a N300,000 business grant after she was displaced from her home.

“They met me when I had nothing and was looking for help. They gave me money to start a business; I now sell clothes and can afford to rent a house.

“I want to appeal to them to focus more on handiwork or vocational training for street urchins. Money can be spent, but a skill learnt is forever,” Bangura said.

Mr Richard Balogun, one of the police officers from the Oko-Oba Division providing security for the event, commended the organisers for the orderly conduct of the exercise.

“What they are doing is amazing because not everyone has the heart to give like this. We were sent here to ensure security, and I am happy to report that everything went smoothly.

“If initiatives like this continue, the people will be happier and the society more peaceful,” Balogun said.

Nigeria’s digital future gets boost as tech investor reaffirms commitment

By Stellamaris Ashinze

A Serial Tech Founder and Investor, Sudeep Ramnani, has reaffirmed his steadfast support for Nigeria’s thriving digital economy.

Ramnani said that infrastructure development was crucial to fostering entrepreneurial growth.

He made this known to newsmen in Lagos at the conclusion of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) took place this past week in New York City.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 80th session marks the eight decades of multilateral diplomacy with the theme, “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.”

Ramnani, who is also the CEO of Dioni Visions Entertainment, emphasised Nigeria’s commitment to digital innovation following the conclusion of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The collective discussions at the UNGA, he noted, reaffirmed the key role of African talent, innovation, and collaboration in shaping the continent’s future.

Ramnani’s commitment served as a practical sign of private sector support for this national aspiration.

Ramnani’s support, often in partnership with his longtime business associate Jai Mahtani, has been a consistent force in the Nigerian tech space.

Their joint efforts have significantly contributed to the advancement of Africa’s digital economy, most notably through Co-founding PalmPay, a leading fintech platform.

Also, the duo has Invested in Paystack and their investment strategy focuses on combining technology with localised service models to meet growing consumer demand across the continent.

The newest venture in Ramnani’s investment portfolio is Chowdeck, a rapidly scaling food delivery startup based in Lagos.

This backing continues the trajectory set by Ramnani and Mahtani, which aims to provide strategic support to promising Nigerian tech companies.

Also, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) has advocated for digital trade to boost Africa Continent Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Minister of FMCIDE, Dr Bosun Tijani. played a central role in advocating for a more connected and competitive Africa through digital trade.

The minister highlighted the importance of leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to scale digital solutions, enhance trade efficiency and unlock cross border economic cohesion.

“Africa is well-positioned to become a global hub of innovation and sustainable growth," he said.

Nairaland GeneralCoy Inaugurates Ai-powered Skincare Tool To Bridge Gap For African Consumers by Onaope22(op): 12:22pm On Aug 31, 2025
By Stellamaris

A beauty and makeup company, Nuban Cares has inaugurated an AI-powered skincare tool, “Skin Decoder” designed to provide clinical level skincare guidance and bridge the gap in African skincare products.

The Founder, Nuban Beauty and Nuban Cares, Stella Ndekile, made it known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Friday.

Ndekile said that the launch of the product was to democratise access to skin health in Nigeria and across Africa, a region where professional dermatological care was often scarce.

According to Ndekile, who is also a medical aesthetician, the motivation for the Skin Decoder comes directly from her professional experience.

“Many clients who come have already wasted time and money on products that did not work for their specific skin concerns.

“As a medical aesthetician, I constantly treat clients with acne, hyperpigmentation and barrier damage caused by using the wrong products,” she said.

According to her, a key feature of the Skin Decoder is its cultural sensitivity, saying that many global AI skincare tools are not trained on darker skin tones, which can lead to inaccurate recommendations.

“African skin behaves differently; hyperpigmentation and sensitivity to sun are common issues,” she noted.

She said that the Skin Decoder was built to reflect these realities and was calibrated to understand diverse skin tones, and ensuring it was truly effective for the African consumer.

Ndekile said that the tool provided an instant analysis of the user’s skin, assessing factors like hydration, pigmentation, texture and pores.

She said that this allowed consumers to make science-driven choices rather than relying on guesswork.

According to her, this simple shift in clarity before purchase can dramatically improve skin health outcomes.

Ndekile said that while the Skin Decoder does not replace a doctor, it served as a crucial first step for many who could not access professional care.

She said that this technology would work alongside dermatologists, giving them better data and extending care to millions of people.

“Good skin health should not be reserved for only the privileged few,’’ Ndekile noted.

She said that Skin Decoder would be available as a free experience at the Lagos Makeup Fair and would later be accessible online at no cost.

The beauty care specialist said that there would be personalised recommendations to Nuban Cares products, which was formulated to be both affordable and of medical grade.

Nairaland GeneralQNET Engages Nigerian Media To Address Misconceptions, Build Public Trust by Onaope22(op): 1:45pm On Aug 07, 2025
By Funmilola Gboteku

QNET has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and ethical business practices by engaging with Nigerian journalists to share accurate information about its operations and address lingering misconceptions about its identity.

Ayokunmi Solesi, General Manager of QNET Nigeria, made this known during a media experience-sharing webinar, where journalists who had engaged directly with the QNET global network were invited to speak on their findings and observations.

He explained that QNET is not merely a direct-selling company, but a global brand focused on empowering entrepreneurs, particularly in regions with limited access to conventional employment opportunities.

“We’re aware of misinformation online, especially in Nigeria. That’s why we’re turning to people who have experienced QNET firsthand to tell the story. The best way to correct misconceptions is through truth, transparency, and credible voices," he said.

Speaking during the webinar, Ms Precious Igbonwelundu, a senior journalist with the Nation newspaper, described her experience with QNET as revealing.

“I used to cover QNET-related stories from a distance, but what I’ve now seen is a company built on structure, ethics, and community,” she said.

She highlighted the diversity and scale of QNET’s operations and noted that access was granted to core institutions linked to the business, including training and educational facilities.

“The access we were given even to medical labs and academic campuses was not something a faceless or dishonest organisation would offer. We saw real systems in place,” she added.

Igbonwelundu also praised QNET’s insistence on compliance and ethical conduct among its independent representatives.

“They require examinations and consistent training to remain in the system. It’s not a free-for-all. There is structure and accountability,” she said.

Mr Kayode Bakare, a veteran broadcaster and media executive, also lent his voice to the conversation, stating that many of the scam reports tied to QNET are in fact the result of impostors and unauthorised individuals misusing the company’s identity.

“We asked direct questions and received clear answers. QNET is aware of how some people misuse its name, and it’s taking steps to stop that. It was also important to see the products for ourselves they are real, tangible, and used across regions,” he said.

Bakare added that his interactions with QNET executives and exposure to the company’s internal operations gave clarity on the brand’s structure and global reach.

She said that over the years, other Nigerian media professionals had also participated in the company’s global convention, including representatives from the News Agency of Nigeria, who had seen firsthand how QNET operates across its network.

Also, another Journalist Ms Funmilola Gboteku of the News Agency of Nigeria, shared that her view of the company changed significantly after learning about its structured and multi-layered approach to preventing fraud and maintaining ethical standards.

“QNET has a dedicated compliance department and a zero-tolerance policy for unethical practices. They monitor representatives and provide extensive training. That level of internal accountability really changed how I viewed them,” she said.

She also highlighted the company's external efforts, including partnerships with law enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and customer support systems designed to combat impersonators and protect the public.

“The fact that they are addressing fraud both inside and outside the network showed me they are serious about maintaining a trustworthy environment,” she added.

Gboteku said that the V-Convention was not just a business event but a powerful display of unity, diversity, and purpose.

She commended QNET’s philanthropic arm, the RYTHM Foundation, for initiatives such as the Taarana School for children with special needs and support for women and girls.

The moderator of the Webinar, Veronica
Dan-Ikpoyi, emphasised the importance of balanced media reporting when covering organisations like QNET.

“I saw QNET’s impact with my own eyes thousands of people whose lives have been transformed. As journalists, it’s our duty to separate truth from speculation and inform the public responsibly,” she said.

Hosted by The Newmark Group, a leading Pan-African integrated marketing communications firm, in partnership with the Public Relations Global Network (PRGN), the event marks World PR Day 2025.

The gathering comes as the world grapples with profound divisions. The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2024 has identified societal polarisation as a top ten risk over the next decade, threatening democratic stability and public trust.

Concurrently, UNESCO warns that misinformation and disinformation are eroding public confidence in media and institutions, posing systemic risks to peace and development.

Recognising this urgent landscape, the event will highlight the critical and evolving role of public relations beyond mere reputation management, focusing on its potential to rebuild trust, foster truth, and create meaningful connections.

A pivotal moment of the event will be the official African launch of the 2025 PRGN Influence Insights Report.

This comprehensive global study delves into evolving public perceptions of trust, reputation, and influence across business, media, and government, offering invaluable data for communication professionals worldwide.

Natacha Clarac, PRGN representative and Managing Director of Athenora Consulting, will present the report.

Gilbert Manirakiza, CEO of The Newmark Group, emphasized the transformative potential of public relations in this era. He asserted that PR must shift from "noise amplification" to a "tool for psychological alignment and cultural healing," serving as a bridge between sectors, generations, and between truth and trust.

This, he explained, is the "essence of neuroinfluence," which focuses on authentically building connections rather than manipulating minds.

Beyond the World PR Day celebration and the report presentation, the event will feature a dynamic panel discussion with top business executives from around the world.

The hybrid format will ensure broad participation, allowing professionals across the African continent to join virtually, while providing an opportunity for direct engagement for in-person attendees in Lagos.

The anniversary adds an extra layer of meaning, celebrating Newmark's legacy and its continued role as a trusted Pan-African partner in influence and reputation.

Lovelyn Okafor, Senior Account Manager and Country Lead for Newmark Nigeria, highlighted the importance of showcasing African perspectives in global communication standards. She noted that hosting World PR Day in Nigeria, a "powerful storytelling hub," underscores the need to build narratives that unify rather than divide.

Okafor stressed that in a fast-paced world where reputations can shift in seconds, communication must be not only rapid but also fair, human, and rooted in truth.
The Newmark Group, which began in Nairobi, has grown into one of Africa’s most respected strategic communications firms, with a strong presence across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, and Burundi.

The firm continues to elevate communication's role in strengthening institutions, shaping culture, and amplifying African voices on the global stage.
As polarization intensifies across digital, political, and social spaces, the conversation surrounding how we communicate and who shapes the message has become more urgent than ever.

This gathering signals a shared commitment across continents to ensure public relations becomes not just a tool of influence, but a vital bridge toward unity, understanding, and collective progress.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Interested individuals can register at https:///4lJByjD.

API Architecture: The Invisible Engine Powering Modern Banking

By Echezona Agubata 2

Banking has evolved far beyond the days of paper ledgers and long queues. Today, it’s a dynamic force driving Nigeria’s economy, responding to customers in real time, and powering digital innovation. The unsung hero behind this transformation is the Application Programming Interface (API)—a tool that lets bank systems communicate seamlessly with each other and external partners. In Nigeria’s fast-growing digital finance landscape, APIs are the invisible engine enabling banks to offer instant balance checks, process payments at retail checkouts, or verify identities for loan approvals. The secret to their success? A robust API architecture, the structured framework that makes banking secure, scalable, and innovative.

Picture API architecture as a bridge connecting islands of financial services. It allows banks to share data securely. In Nigeria, where digital banking is literarily booming, APIs let banks like Coronation Merchant Bank expand services without rebuilding infrastructure. This flexibility fuels innovation, enabling tailored solutions for everyone from small businesses to large corporations.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) along with Industry players ensure this ecosystem is secure and trustworthy. Its regulations mandate standards like OAuth 2.0 for authentication, tokenization to protect data, and encrypted channels to safeguard transactions. Real-time monitoring and customer consent protocols further build trust, ensuring data is shared only with permission. These rules aren’t just technical or ethical—they’re the backbone of Nigeria’s open banking system, fostering collaboration and innovation.

How do APIs work? Imagine a well-orchestrated machine. The API acts as
A Gateway: the gatekeeper to a product. It authenticates requests and ensures only authorized people are granted access to the product. It also helps limit the number of requests that can be made for the product at any given time. For instance, when a bank’s mobile app requests a customer’s transaction history, the transaction history API (as a gateway) verifies access (both customer and mobile app) before treating the transaction history request.

A Guide: the protocol or security who ensures that even authenticated users are only allowed to access products and data that they are authorized to have
A Funnell: the pipe that ensures that authenticated users access products and data from known locations/sources to known destinations
An Agent: the agent that ensures that applications regardless of the service offering have access to data/products in the same way as every other application. This gives unified experience across respective platforms that are consuming the service/data offered by the API

Explanation: An app or corporate system sends a request to the API gateway, which authenticates and routes it. The orchestration layer processes it using endpoints, pulling data from the core system via middleware.

The orchestration layer (behind the gateway) breaks services—like catalog, shopping cart, or ordering—into modular endpoints, like building blocks online shops can share securely. The modular endpoints connect these APIs to core systems, translating the requests into formats that can be processed by the core system. Companies also provide developer portals with clear documentation and sandbox environments, simplifying integration for partners.

This architecture can be built for scale. Banks process millions of transactions daily using load balancing to scale out resources, and distribute traffic in a dynamic fashion. This architecture could incorporate the use of in-memory databases and Queueing technologies to cache frequently used data for swifter processing. More so, this introduces rate limiting features which help isolate any problem areas without affecting the entire service as a whole.

Challenges abound. One of such is the existence of legacy systems as many banks and organizations often rely on decades-old mainframes (core systems), thus requiring a middleware solution to bridge old and new systems—a complex but critical step. Another recent challenge is the need to enforce data privacy expectations, this has made encryption and data masking a necessary action. Encryption in itself comes with its own attendant side-effects especially where applied on data without proper service governance. It can slow performance, so banks and organizations use caching and optimized data flows to balance speed and security. Compliance with CBN guidelines and Nigeria’s data privacy laws demands robust consent management and audit trails. Versioning APIs (e.g., /v1/payments) prevents disruptions when systems evolve.

Real-world examples highlight APIs’ impact. Coronation Merchant Bank built the Dangote ISOP Collection API to streamline payments for Dangote’s distributors. These payments were previously riddled with slow reconciliations and delayed cash flow. The API integrates payments directly into Dangote’s ERP system and thereby automating the process, reducing errors, and strengthening business ties. Another bank used a KYC API to verify customer identities for loan applications, cutting onboarding time while meeting CBN standards. A third example involves a major Nigerian bank’s payment API, which enables instant corporate transfers for retailers, ensuring funds clear in seconds during peak sales.

APIs are also driving open finance. The CBN’s 2023 guidelines expand APIs to cover credit, investment, and insurance data, enabling embedded finance—loans at retail checkouts or savings tools linked to salary accounts. This makes banking invisible yet ever-present, blending into daily life.

The future is exciting. Banks are adopting API-first design, prioritizing APIs as core interfaces for faster innovation. AI-driven APIs are emerging, enabling fraud detection or tailored loan offers. Blockchain-based APIs promise secure cross-border payments. Event-driven architectures, using tools like Kafka, process real-time events like transaction alerts, boosting efficiency.

At Coronation Merchant Bank, our APIs are business enablers. Our custom solutions, like the Dangote integration, solve real-world problems, while our investment banking desk advises on capital raising and partnerships, helping clients stay competitive. APIs lower barriers, drive growth, and deliver seamless experiences for customers.

Nigeria’s financial future isn’t about who holds the most assets—it’s about who builds the strongest connections between data, money, and people. API architecture is the invisible engine powering that future, creating a connected, inclusive banking ecosystem.

Africa Gears Up For Digital Sovereignty At 13th Edition Of Digital Africa Conference 2025

Africa’s digital destiny will on October 28-29, 2025, take centre stage at the 13th Edition of the Digital Africa Conference & Exhibition (DACE), to be held at Merit House, Abuja, under the theme: “Sovereign Intelligence: Africa’s Voice in the Global Digital Order.”

At a time when artificial intelligence (AI), smart systems, and data technologies are reshaping societies, economies, and governance structures worldwide, DACE 2025 is sounding a clarion call: ‘Africa must lead, not lag in this transformation.’

Organizers say the aim is to move beyond consumption and dependency, and instead position the continent as a proactive contributor to global digital norms and governance.

“This year’s conference is about shifting from passive adoption to active leadership,” said Dr. Evans Woherem, Chairman, Digital Africa Consult, organisers of the event. “Sovereign Intelligence is more than a concept, it’s a movement to ensure that Africa controls its digital resources, designs its own ethical frameworks, and asserts its voice in shaping global technology norms.”

A Defining Moment for Africa's Digital Future

Woherem said the conference will serve as a high-level, cross-sectoral platform aimed at positioning Africa as a co-author of global AI governance standards, rather than a mere recipient, assuring that the conversations are expected to align closely with the African Union’s Continental AI Strategy, advocating for a united, self-determined digital ecosystem across the continent.

“The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated. As the world builds its digital infrastructure, much of the technology consumed in Africa is still imported, foreign-owned, and culturally disconnected. African data is often stored offshore, local languages and cultural contexts remain invisible in AI systems, and African experts are frequently excluded from global decision-making tables.

“This must change. Digital Africa 2025 is about taking control of our data, our narratives, and our technological development. Africa must move from being users of foreign systems to creators of our own,” Woherem added.

Key Objectives of DACE 2025

One of the primary objectives of this year’s event is to advocate for African ownership of digital infrastructure, data policies, and technology standards. Organizers hope to inspire African leaders and institutions to say yes to innovation and regulation built by Africans, for Africans.

Another major focus will be amplifying African voices on the global stage. This involves not only advocating for inclusion in international policy dialogues but also ensuring that African values, cultures, and wisdom shape the design and deployment of AI systems worldwide.

“The conference will also spotlight homegrown innovation. Startups and developers from across the continent will showcase digital solutions addressing local challenges in healthcare, agriculture, finance, and education. These practical examples will reinforce the message that Africa is already generating intelligent, scalable answers to complex problems,” said Nneoma Ofodile, General Manager, Digital Africa.

Empowering young Africans through digital skills, research opportunities, and leadership training is another key goal of the gathering. Organizers are committed to fostering a new generation of African tech leaders who can confidently shape global digital trends from a place of knowledge and ownership.

Regional cooperation will be front and centre, as DACE encourages cross-border collaboration on harmonizing laws, sharing infrastructure, and building integrated digital ecosystems. Sessions will explore how African nations can jointly develop policies and platforms that reflect the continent’s unique needs and aspirations.

While global partnerships will also be on the agenda, the conference aims to deepen Africa’s engagement with international institutions such as UNESCO, the UN, and the OECD, not as passive participants but as co-authors of global standards for ethical and inclusive AI.

Nneoma said that throughout the two-day event, attendees can expect high-level discussions on digital law, tech sovereignty, and innovation policy, alongside practical workshops for developers, educators, and youth. Innovation showcases will highlight the work of African tech hubs, while strategy sessions will promote cross-country digital alignment.

At the close of the event, a concrete roadmap is expected to emerge—outlining actionable steps toward achieving digital sovereignty across the continent. The conference will also aim to strengthen networks among African innovators, regulators, and thinkers, while increasing the visibility of African insights in international technology policy.

Above all, Digital Africa 2025 is about reclaiming agency. “This isn’t just a technology conversation,” Nneoma emphasized. “It’s about power, voice, and independence. Africa must not only catch up; Africa must lead.”

As preparations intensify, DACE 2025 is inviting visionary organizations, sponsors, and partners to join the mission of building a digitally sovereign and inclusive Africa.

In the era of AI, personalization goes hand-in-hand with privacy. On Galaxy S25, the Personal Data Engine powers personalized AI features by safely analyzing your data on-device to deliver highly tailored experiences that reflect your preferences and usage patterns.

These insights enable tailored experiences such as searching for an old photo in the Gallery using natural language, or being guided through the day with Now Brief, which proactively offers suggestions accessible via Now Bar on the lock screen.

This power fuels the Galaxy S25 series’ ability to process more AI experiences on-device without compromise, including previously cloud-based AI tasks such as Generative Edit.

10-bit HDR recording is now applied by default, offering four times richer color expression compared to 8-bit. Galaxy S25 can thus capture details in any lighting conditions. Plus, low-light videos have never been clearer than with Galaxy S25.

Based on powerful processor, Galaxy S25 analyzes movement and time to reduce noise more effectively.
This integration allows detecting both moving and static objects with greater precision, ensuring sharper, cleaner footage in any scenario.

HealthQNET Urges Nigerians To Prioritise Water Quality For Improved Health by Onaope22(op): 7:16am On Nov 18, 2024
By Funmilola Gboteku

QNET, a global lifestyle and wellness company, emphasises the importance of prioritising water quality to improve health and well-being, urging Nigerians to explore innovative solutions.

Berni Gaksch, QNET ‘s Category Manager and Global Trainer, made the assertion during the company’s Amezcua product workshop held in Lagos on Sunday.

According to him, water constitutes about 70 per cent of the human body, adding that it is losing energy and essence due to pollution and processing.

“The best water comes from natural sources, but pollution and processing strips it of its energy and essence,” he explained.

Gaksch said to tackle the challenge, QNET introduced the Bio Disc 3, a water restructuring technology, using quantum entanglement and energised crystals to restructure water molecules.

“This technology makes water molecules smaller and finer, allowing for easier hydration and detoxification, boosting energy levels, and enhancing the immune system,” he said.

“Chromotherapy works in sequence with the Bio Disc 3’s energy to react and vibrate faster, restoring overall body health,” Gaksch explained.

He said research findings, including photographs and microscope images, show the transformation of tap water into crystalline-shaped water molecules after using the Bio Disc 3.

“Our technology helps athletes perform better and recover faster. It’s not just for athletes, anyone can benefit from improved hydration and reduced inflammation,” he said.

Gaksch emphasised the need for individuals to reconnect with nature and harness its vibrations to maintain good health.

Similarly, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University and member of the QNET Scientific Advisory Board, who conducted a research, stressed the effectiveness of the QNET Amezcua Bio Disc 3 in enhancing water quality.

Adebayo said that the study analysed seven water samples, including public tap, borehole, rain, bottled, distilled, and sachet water.

He noted that the water samples were structured using the Bio Disc 3 for varying durations of 15 and 30 minutes, which was later compared with unstructured water as control.

According to him, the results show that supercharging the water samples with the Bio Disc 3, enhanced concentrations of mineral elements such as calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium ions.

“Additionally, the study found that supercharging infected autoclaved distilled water samples significantly reduced the total viable count of E. coli bacteria.

“The Bio Disc 3 impacts high electrical conductivity on structured water samples, increasing the efficacy of dissolved minerals and conferring an antibacterial effect,” he said.

He noted that the study demonstrated the Bio Disc 3’s ability to improve the energetic properties of water, essential for human health, particularly in Africa.

“The research, currently under review for publication in the Scientific African Journal, underscores the potential benefits of the Bio Disc 3 technology in enhancing water quality,” Adebayo noted.

CareerITC Shetrades, UPS Partner To Empower 20,000 Nigerian Women Entrepreneurs by Onaope22(op): 12:58pm On Oct 31, 2024
The International Trade Centre’s (ITC) SheTrades initiative says it has inaugurated its second phase in Nigeria, focusing on digital leadership, and empowering 20,000 women entrepreneurs in the next three years.

Speaking at the inauguration on Wednesday in Lagos, Kritee Sharrma, Head of Partnerships for SheTrades at ITC said the empowerment initiative was with the collaboration of the United Parcel Service (UPS) Women Exporters Programme.

She said that the Women Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) were implementing partners.

Sharrma said that digital skills were very vital for women’s economic growth.

“Africa is on the brink of a digital revolution, growing at 10 per cent annually. Providing equitable access to digital tools and technologies is crucial,” Sharrma said.

According to her, the initiative aims to equip women with technical and soft skills to succeed in the digital economy.

“We want women to be leaders, not just participants, in the digital economy,” Sharrma said.

Sharrma said that the SheTrades and UPS Women Exporters Programme, which have already impacted over 200 participants in Nigeria, operate in 73 countries worldwide.

She highlighted key digital tools, including artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital marketing, as some of the tools necessary for women to use in boosting their businesses.

“We believe success in the digital economy requires both technical and soft skills,” Sharrma said.

On the potential impact, Sharrma said she was hopeful that 100 per cent of the participants would apply at least one piece of information from the training to grow their businesses within the next year.

Also, Mr Morolayo Igeleke,Country Marketing Manager, UPS, said the UPS-ITC SheTrade partnership initiative, emphasised UPS’s commitment to bridging the digital divide for disadvantaged women.

“UPS aims to educate and enlighten women worldwide, particularly in countries where less than 50 per cent of women are digitally literate,” Igeleke said.

The marketing manager said the partnership with ITC SheTrade would focus on digital inclusion, enabling women to leverage technology for business growth.

“We want to empower women of all ages to become digitally savvy entrepreneurs,” Igeleke said.

He said that the three-year initiative would provide training in digital skills, artificial intelligence, and data analysis.

“Today’s women must understand technology to upscale their businesses,” Igeleke added.

According to him, UPS’s investment in Nigeria’s women is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s economic growth.

“Nigerian women are key to its prosperity, and we are committed to unlocking their potential,” he said.

Similarly, Mrs Oreoluwa Lesi, W.TEC Executive Director, said the main focus of the initiative was digital empowerment for women entrepreneurs.

“Today, we have trained a lot of women in using digital tools for business growth.

“These free tools are accessible and can greatly enhance entrepreneurship.

“W.TEC will host follow-up webinars on digital skills and entrepreneurship to keep enlightening women on ways to boost their businesses.

“Women’s leadership in business and society is crucial,” Lesi noted.

In her keynote speech, Nnenna Ugwu, Director Alumni Relations, Enterprise Development Centre, emphasised the importance of developing a growth mindset and collaboration for entrepreneurial success.

Ugwu said that women entrepreneurs must understand their motivations and strengths to scale their businesses.

Highlighting the need for women to support one another, Ugwu said: “We must break the cycle of backbiting and negativity.

“Instead, let us collaborate, share knowledge, and uplift each other.

“Entrepreneurial success requires a combination of mindset, skills, and strategy. By embracing these principles.

“We can unlock our potential, create sustainable businesses, and make a lasting impact, “she said.

Ugwu urged women entrepreneurs to focus on efficiency, technology, and innovation to achieve scalability.

“Reduce operational costs, leverage digital tools, and seek mentorship. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or learn from others,” she said.

Nairaland GeneralExperts Encourage Youths On Effective, Efficient Use Of Technology by Onaope22(op): 5:20pm On Oct 22, 2024
Mrs Sonia Fajusigbe, the Policy Advisor, Entrepreneurship Youth Employment and Healthcare, Consulate General of the Netherlands in Lagos, has encouraged youths to effectively and efficiently use technology to harness opportunities.

Fajusigbe made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of the How to Win Tech Summit for Youths.

NAN reports that “How To Win Tech Summit” was organised by a Dutch-based Software development company- Zarttech, in Lagos.

Fajusigbe said that there were so many opportunities in the technology ecosystem for the youths to harness as entrepreneurs and innovators.

According to her, the climate in Nigeria is very interesting and with limited opportunities but one can make the best opportunity out of it

“ Data is gold, you have phones, install Britannica it is for student in high school and elementary schools basically for research, it will help you.

“If you do that, you will remain within the scope and I would like everyone to take this with them, self discipline is what separates winners and losers, when you are not disciplined, you are just among the crowd.

“It is when you are self disciplined, you have a goal in front of you and you focus on it’’, she said.

Fajusigbe said that youths should try as much as possible to ensure consistency in that area and that when consistency is mixed with discipline, one would achieve a whole lot.

She, however, highlighted some of the works carried out by Netherlands in youths empowerment and its multiple effects on those trained, mentored and empowered.

Fajusigbe said that there were some programmes currently running and many were centrally funded.

According to her, all programmes in Nigeria are centrally funded and none is funded locally; centrally funded means it is funded from the Hague which includes Orange Corners.

“Orange Corners is the biggest entrepreneurship signature programme that runs across 19 countries in the world and it is basically to train and equip and support startups in their initial phase of proof of concept”.

According to her, young people from ages 18 to 50, who are still reiterating ideas to solve local problems are supported.

“There are four sectors it focuses on in the Orange Corners incubation programme, which is implemented by Fate Foundation and they are agriculture, renewable energy, secular economy, and healthcare.

“Others include Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, which is biggest promising in terms of creating digital jobs and it is basically to support, to provide matching fund.

“The Orange Corners is in its 11th cohort and has trained about 200 entrepreneurs”.

Speaking earlier about the summit, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zarttech, Mr Nelson Ajulo, said that Zarttech was basically focused on developing tech talents in the Nigerian ecosystem using their capacities

Ajulo said it was also creating opportunities for global jobs for young people in the ecosystem.

He said that the event was aimed at empowering young people by exploring opportunities within the tech industry, helping them develop the skills needed to become self-reliant or embark on rewarding careers in this rapidly evolving sector.

According to him, the summit is part of Zarttech’s ongoing commitment to driving social impact and fostering innovation among Nigerian youth and with the purpose to catch them young.

Ajulo said that the programme, in its fifth year, is to create awareness on the future of labour force in Nigeria and globally

“And part of the biggest problem that I have seen within the Nigerian economy, also for my PhD research, is that these children, the average Nigerians, do not even know what they need to study.

“Or even what the economy or what the employer wants, or what the job market needs in the labor market, so they go to school to study without even knowing the end result.

“Which would be that they are able to obtain a certificate that actually says that they are an amazing employee to be hired”.

According to him, when they go and invest the time, invest the resources of their parent on an unintentional intent, and learn something that is not of great value, they may become redundant, and it is like wasted time and wasted resources.

The CEO said that it was crucial for children and youths to have understanding of this , and that the Summit was to create this awareness.

Nairaland GeneralNGO Empowers 47,000 Girls, Women In STEM In 16 Years by Onaope22(op): 8:56am On Aug 21, 2024
By Funmilola Gboteku

Lagos, Aug 20, 2024 (NAN) The Women Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) says that since its inception in January 2008, it had, through its various programmes, empowered over 47,000 girls and women.

Mrs Oreoluwa Lesi, the Executive Director and Founder, W.TEC, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a interview on Tuesday in Lagos.

Lesi said: “We started off just focusing on technology, but then over the years, we have broadened to science, technology, engineering, and then maths and arts as well.

“So what we want to do is we want to show the girls how relatable science is in solving day-to-day problems. That way they don’t think it’s something that they just study in school and forget about.

“The long-term goal of the camp is to increase the numbers of Nigerian women and girls working in Science, Technology, Engineering, Design, and Maths-related fields.

“It is also an opportunity to increase the numbers of girls and women using and creating technology for learning, professional, and leadership activities.”

The W.TEC founder said that since 2008 as well it had also trained over 619 girls through its She Creates Camp programme, on artificial Intelligence, electronics and software innovation.

She added that it also trained the girls on some hands-on projects and team building.

According to her, the She Creates Camp, which is a residential science and technology education mentoring programme designed to teach girls in secondary schools, just graduated 19 girls recently.

Lesi said that the girls that were trained were between ages 13 years and 17 years, and they were taught to create useful solutions and technologies for everyday living.

She said that this was done through the application of engineering and scientific concepts, programming, mobile application development, and digital content development.

“During the two-week residential camp, the girls participated in technology workshops on artificial intelligence, electronics and software innovation.

“They also had hands-on projects, team building, career-talk sessions, excursions, entrepreneurial skills, and introduction to marine engineering.

“They were further exposed to recycling and upcycling workshops, introduction to bio-gas, waste management and solar power technology among others,” she said..

Lesi said that to make the camp more practical and fun, the girls went on excursions to both Wecyclers and Sonnex Packaging Nigeria Ltd. in Lagos.

According to her, after the camp the girls are usually surveyed to see if they pursue careers in what they learnt, noting that a lot of progress has been seen over the years.

“We noticed that 67 per cent of the girls are pursuing courses in STEM and 57 per cent are using the skills learnt to make money, “Lesi said.

She said the centre also had the opportunity to train a few boys and also teachers as well in some of the different programmes the NGO hosted annually.

Also speaking, Sweetness Fashipe, one of the participants, said that the two weeks had been a great opportunity to learn different skills .

“In a space of two weeks, I have learnt how to use canvas, which is a form of creative design, arduino blocks and breadboards to create devices that can sense how hot or cold the environment is.

“We also created devices that can sense whether there’s gas, smoke or alcohol in the air and how to make a solar panel that can control both street lights and the houses in a community,” Fashipe said.

Mr Joseph Amoni, a parent of one of the participants, lauded the centre’s initiative to encourage girls to pursue STEM education.

Amoni, however, urged the centre to do more in empowerment of boys as well.

“We also need to pay attention to the male child as well, most of the miscreants we see on the roads today are small boys, who would have been great, if such empowerment opportunities were offered to them, “he said.

Government-led programmes key for financial inclusion – Network International

By Fummilola Gboteku

Mr Nandan Mer, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Network International, says government-sponsored programmes and infrastructure are crucial for the acceleration of financial inclusion in Nigeria.

Mer said this at the launch of the company’s Innovative Network One Payment Platform on Wednesday in Lagos.

According to him, the government needs to put in place a financial inclusion target for all ecosystem participants.

He, however, said that the government could not do it alone, adding that ecosystem players must embrace government’s mandates, policies and regulations.

Mer noted that when government gets involved through different initiatives, there was always a tremendous force for good.

“I believe the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System is doing a good job in terms of interbank payments, and the proposed domestic card scheme is a step in the right direction.

“Network International is committed to embracing these initiatives and recognising the transformative power of government involvement.

“While government responsibility is not sole, its engagement accelerates progress. Alignment among government, policymakers, and central banks is vital,” Mer said.

Speaking on the launch, Mer said the company had aligned with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s directive for in-country transaction routing, enhancing its local processing capabilities by deploying its flagship Network One platform on soil.

According to him, the platform is now ready to onboard and empower banks, Mobile Network Operators and fintechs in Nigeria and throughout the West African region.

Mer said the integrated platform provides banks, financiaI institutions and fintechs with a comprehensive range of payment products and services locally in Nigeria for both issuers and acquirers.

He said the suite was complemented by a variety of value-added services such as digital, loyalty, tokenisation, enterprise fraud prevention, embedded finance and data and advisory solutions and many more.

According to Mer, Network International is strategically investing in rolling out the platform in key markets to effectively serve its local and regional clients and partners across the MEA region

“This major milestone took us only a few months to deploy thanks to a local team that worked tirelessly and seamlessly with cross-functional colleagues in various geographies to ensure we deliver on Network One’s promise of innovation, resilience and agility.

“As the country with the fourth-largest Gross Domestic Product in Africa with strong consumer spending, Nigeria is ripe for a digital payment boom.

“Total transaction value in the domestic digital payments market is projected to reach 21.32 billion US dollars in 2024, with an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2028) of 10.06 per cent projected to reach a total amount of $31.28 billion by 2028,” he said.

Dr Reda Helal, Group, Managing Director for Processing in Africa, said the Network One platform was an integrated payment suite offering both merchant and issuer solutions, hosted and supported in-country.

Helal explained that it relies on a consolidation of best-in-class technologies brought together to provide end-to-end payment processing capabilities in a highly adaptable environment.

“Our presence on the ground and comprehension of the specific needs of the local market have enabled us to tailor a solution that is ideally suited for Nigerian enterprises.

“Our capability to establish a hub equipped with all the essential technology not only empowers our clients to enhance their value proposition but also positions the Network to effectively contribute to financial inclusion and democratisation of payments.

“It has also allowed us to effectively address the needs of a large population of consumers across the continent,” he said.

Explaining how the company operates, the Regional Managing Director for West and Central Africa, Chinwe Uzoho, said the company serves only financial institutions, Fintechs and Telcos.

“We are the ones giving Fintechs and financial institutions products and services that enable them to serve the end users,” Uzoho said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Network International provides technology-enabled payments as a service to merchants and financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa.

It is also listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

Nairaland GeneralQNET, FG Partner To Educate Youths On Illegal Migration, Fake Jobs by Onaope22(op): 11:29pm On Aug 03, 2024

QNET, a direct-selling company says it has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment (FMLE) to train and educate youths on illegal migration and fake job offers.

Mr Biram Fall, the Regional General Manager of QNET said this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.

He said the partnership was an employability training programme to empower Nigerian youth.

Fall also noted that the initiative was part of QNET's ongoing “Say No!” awareness campaign to combat fake job offers leading to illegal migration across Africa.

He said the two-day programme featured a curriculum designed to equip participants with essential skills for safely navigating the job market.

“We are proud to partner with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in this critical initiative, as the unemployment rate of 53.4 per cent remains alarmingly high.

"Investing in robust training and continuous education programmes is essential for creating a resilient and competent workforce.

"By doing so, we are protecting them from financial loss and boosting their employability against scams and fraudulent activities, " Fall said.

The Regional manager also explained the challenges QNET faced in Nigeria and other West African countries, where miscreants used the company's name to lure unsuspecting youth into fake job offers.

He stressed the steps the company was taking to combat this through extensive public education programmes.

“We have witnessed first-hand the devastating impact of these criminal activities on young people who have fallen victim to fake job scams being propagated in our name.

" It is alarming to note how people with ill intentions are able to defraud unsuspecting victims who are just looking for a job to improve their life.

"We have realised that the only way to combat this rising menace is through the power of education, "he said.

Fall said that was why the training programme by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment
was such a powerful platform.

Miss Augustina Uka, Senior Labour Officer at FMLE said the ministry's commitment to enhancing the employability of young Nigerians was unwavering.

She said the ministry had created the National Electronic Labor Exchange (NELEX) project, an innovative electronic platform designed to transform the ministry's employment exchanges into a robust database of employable manpower in Nigeria to facilitate job exchange and labour mobility.

Uka said the ministry's aim was to provide the necessary tools and resources for the Nigerian youth to succeed in the competitive job market.

She noted that through FMLE 's collaboration with QNET, they understood the need to help people live better lives by educating and empowering youths with the knowledge on how to identify and avoid fake job offers.

"FMLE wishes to work closely with QNET moving forward to help deliver on the mandate of the Ministry, which is to create an enabling environment for job creation, leading to increased employment opportunities and economic growth in Nigeria, "she said .
