badoh: We all see the havoc done by terrorists in Oyo State by abducting School teachers and pupils. This act has shown the unpreparedness of the state governments and how inefficient the leaders are when it comes to securing the lives and properties of the people they govern. Must these governors wait till havoc is done before they think of solution to insecurities in their states. What are they using the billions they collect from the federal govt for. These state governors also collect security votes monthly from the federation account and I'm sure they will pocket substantial percentage of this fund. The state governors cannot be left off the hook because they also swear to protect lives of the people they govern. Now that Oyo State has been attacked, what measures are other states in the south putting in place to prevent havoc like this in their respective states. How secured are their states from terrorists and bandit attacks? These bandits concentrate mostly on the rural areas and that is why most of their operations are successful. You cant continue to blame the federal government for insecurity because the governors are also in charge of securing their respective states. Do you see these governors complaining of not getting enough allocation or financial support from the federal government? However, in order for the people not to see their lapses, they shift the blame to the federal government. As we are blaming the federal government, call out these state governors who are also sitting on billions of allocation and misusing it as they wish.
As a federal government, you know governors will miss use allocation, why no devise a means to not increase governors allocation but channel it into key areas the masses will benefit
Heffalump: Adelabu knows he can't win the APC primaries.
He actually used the resignation as minister of darkness to contest at the primaries, as an excuse to run from his incompetent job. The matter heavy am for head.
Tinubu has nothing to offer Nigeria. If he channelled the efforts on Lagos - Calabar coastal road to power, we would have been happier by now. However, he must satisfy Chagoury and himself at the expense of national transformation and economic growth. Nigeria deserve the kind of leaders they produce because we are too divided and full of sentiments.
You're Soo right. That power ministry was giving him a bad record. Better to leave and let another person carry the load. He knew he wouldn't get the governorship post.
WizardOfNG: A cancer patient needs painful and lengthy chemotherapy to heal. What part of that very simple analogy do some of you not understand?
Did Tinubu cause the cancer? If I take time to explain the problem of the power sector and show you factually that the regime of GEJ and Buhari ran up trillions of Naira in debt to generation and distribution companies they irresponsibly failed to pay would you agree they were wrong and created a big problem for Tinubu?
Additionally, if I factually show you it is Tinubu, of all past Presidents, that has now put together a 3.3 trillion Naira repayment plan to clear debt destroying our power sector , I can bet you will still be attacking Tinubu as the cause of our electricity woes while praising GEJ and demanding he returns as President.
This huge problem they left for Tinubu in the power sector applies to virtually every other critical sector.
Buhari sold crude on IOU contracts Tinubu has to pay by supplying Nigerian crude his government cannot get a kobo for because Buhari and his crew had collected hideous amount of money upfront with Nigeria obligated to supply crude in future. Tinubu's government had been massively set-up by all previous Government since 1999.
It is the President dedicated to doing the right thing, that will make Nigeria heal properly and make a full recovery, bigoted, ignorant and prejudiced Nigerians are attacking.
Nigerians are the most unreasonable people in the world in my opinion. You just don't see that about yourselves.
Yes Tinubu caused the cancer. Why did he champion protest against fuel subsidy just to push Jonathan. He knew Buhari was bad for Nigeria but supported him to get access to his voter base. Look at ibadan now, unsafe. Infact let the bandit enter Lagos since I adan is fallen.
saintruky: I suspect Julius Berger. They're currently doing construction in my locality, and rain hardly falls where they are working, few poles away, you'll see rain falling... Doesn't get near them at all...
The whites respect tradition. If they want to build bridge over water, they'll make enquiry on what to appease the god of the water. They make inquiries on how to move shrines on land.
Lovelink1991: Hmmmmmm, I hope Peter Obi will not do worse if elected president because this was how we hype Buhari and we ended up in the worst situation
We all knew Buhari was tribalist. So that's an an excuse. We can't expect someone of same tribe to deal with terrorists. Just the way ihejiriaka was able to tame them.
OfficialAPCNig: Fear in OBIdient camp but mandate standers are sponsoring legal suits to stop Jonathan from contesting. Una go cry as Nigeria stands behind her best president ever.
Jonathan is not even contesting. I mean, he's not that dumb.
tesseract: This is the problem with accepting help and support from these people..at any point in time, they can decide to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it. I can assure you that DE doesn't even know what he has done wrong...😂😂😂
Heard it has to do with the Obasa coup. Seems he played a primary role, but obviously would have been directed to do such by other higher ups. It's just complicated when one man controls the destiny of Lagos.
according to what I heard, the donors value mosque than other facilities because as they keep praying daily in the mosque, the sins of the donors are being forgiven. That's what I heard ooo.
shadrach77: As soon as I saw Bishop Okonkwo my heart skipped. I thought it was the popular bishop Okonkwo of TREM. May the soul of this particular Bishop killed by his driver rest in peace
Same here I wanted to scream apostle Constance oya report here lol. That guy has been complaining about TREM since forever
xxxx999jon: which Obama influence.. Na Obama vote am out? Àbi na Obama make am no appoint Southwest people into his government? He was favoring the north and south east heavily on appointments and was being warned not to jettision the southwest that lead the crusade for him during and after Yar'Adua.. If he had won the southwest he would have won.. Buhari won because he won the southwest. Jonathan didn't play his politics well because of people like you who always blame others when you fail.
Same propaganda you people use to brainwash people. Ask Tinubu why he influenced house of reps speaker to favour tambulwan instead of mulikat. We also saw all their pictures with US officials. Obama sent 200 marines to Ghana waiting for jonaboy if he doesn't step down. Even the chibok girls was deliberately to frustrate Jonathan
LagosOrigin: Atiku is nothing without Peter Obi and never will be.
I know Tinubu won't hand over to Atiku, so I wonder why he can't try to fix his children to achieve his dream. His mistake was becoming VP I believe. He shouldn't have let the governorship go, that might have helped him.
yemre: NELFUND would not make any meaning to you because you're not in school, neither do you have any child in a tertiary institution.
One thing I don't really like is downplaying the efforts just because it doesn't benefit you directly. But those benefitting from the intervention will not trivialize the policy.
And saying that one needs a matric number to qualify! I doubt if you know the meaning of what you just said. The only thing that confirms that you got an admission is the matric number allocated to you. Or do you intend to go and apply for it when you're not in school and you expect an approval?
Actually I have a ward I pay for. I preferred the 30k we were paying instead of this over 200k. He isn't on nelfund.
AWONEYAN: ADC has locked it's website preventing members from deregistering so they won't run to NDC. It's more dangerous for people seeking political office. With the new electoral law, you can't be in two political parties. This will pose a great problem to them.
We think it's only Tinubu that can play dirty politics. Atiku is grandfather of dirty politics. No wonder he is called Atiku...Atilekún
I'm sure they know what will happen if the split the votes. Kwakwaso knows Tinubu won't want him for president because he needs control like Lagos.
seunmsg: Congratulations to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Alia. Benue is a done deal already. The victory will be massive and resounding. Kudos to George Akume for playing the role of an elder statesman and not rocking the boat of the party.
yemre: I get your point. But, remember that security is a civic duty as well. The war can not be won except with collaboration of the locals. This is the reason state police should have been activated before now. But the funny thing is that the States that need this mostly are not even interested just because of the salaries and emoluments they would pay them. That stance has also not changed even as their monthly fiscal allocation have improved. In addition, religion is another thing that has made the security worse. We all serve the same God but that doesn't mean we should shield our friends and members of our churches and mosques whom we know are into all these things.
Human capital development, with the right infrastructure in place, that would come naturally because it would result in creation of direct and indirect employment. Already, there's intervention in agriculture and the states are also empowered to invest in their people. Interestingly, while some states are working on assisting their people economically and building schools and employing qualified teachers, some states are spending that money on things like pilgrimage, religion and other things. They all produce different results. But then, we all look the same but our needs are different.
Lastly, the NELFUND introduced by the federal government is working and helping families in the area of education and it has nothing to do with knowing people or having any connections in the government.
It is left for the states to look inwards, know the greatest challenges of their own people and solve it.
Also, remember that the local government now get their allocation directly from the Federal government. They should all play their role to ensure that their people are okay.
President Tinubu will not come to your domain to come and give you handouts. The government cannot make you rich, it will only provide for you and enabling environment to thrive.
Nelfund isn't an achievement. Increasing tuition and then turning students to debtors isn't an achievement especially when you can cut cost in other unreasonable areas to keep tuition low. Do you know not everyone is selected for the nelfund, or you think it's all the applications that sail through?
Also, to benefit you need to have a matric number, meaning you must be able to afford registration fee and even the first year school fees yourself before you are assigned a registration number than can now apply for nelfund ask anyone around. Anyone that couldn't afford to go to school when it was still very cheap will not be able to afford it now that accommodations and transportation and feeding is expensive.
Radicalwarrior: So because the Senate is singing now, Tinubu can’t be impeached? That’s like saying a referee who claps for a player can’t give him a red card. The rules don’t care about the song. They care about the offense. True, this Senate is pro-Tinubu now. But impeachment isn’t about singing. It’s about the law. If Tinubu violates the constitution, or if the economy collapses, that same Senate will change tune. Remember: The same Senate that sang ‘Buhari till 2023’ was the one that voted against his loan requests and blocked some of his nominees. When interest changes, the song changes. ‘Singing on your mandate’ is not in the constitution — 2/3 votes is.
Tinubu could be in the same spot. If he delivers, no one will talk impeachment. If he doesn’t, even his singers will leave the choir.
Buhari had US support in 2015, but that didn’t win him the election — Nigerians did. If Buhari could lose 3 times before winning, then nothing is ‘evident’ until votes are counted. Tinubu’s US backing doesn’t stop a Nigerian from beating him if people are tired.
You can't compare a saraki to akpabio. They are worlds apart.
Radicalwarrior: Nobody said it’s happening tomorrow. But ‘impossible’ is what they said about Buhari defeating PDP in 2015. Politics changes fast. Senate today, different tomorrow. Senate presidents commend presidents all the time — that’s their job. But remember: Saraki and Lawan both clashed with their presidents. Senate loyalty isn’t forever. It sounds ‘un-Nigerian’ because we’ve never done it. But the constitution says it’s possible. If Nigerians are angry enough, even the ‘impossible’ becomes real.
You’re right — today it looks impossible. The Senate President is backing Tinubu, and borrowing is the current plan. But the constitution doesn’t require ‘Nigerian’ to impeach. It requires 2/3 of Senate and House. If Tinubu breaks the law, ignores the National Assembly, or triggers mass protests, the math changes.
This senate that sings on your mandate up and down can't impeach Tinubu. Buhari hd the US support when he wanted to contest so it was evident he will win.
yemre: You can hardly blame Fashola. He was equally an active minister but he just couldn't achieve much because the head of government at the time never prioritize infrastructure and as such, much funds were not made available for him.
The priority or legacy of any Head of government will determine the sector that would enjoy the attention...and as far as Tinubu is concerned, he believes if the roads are good, economy would improve, money would circulate better and the people's movement would not be impeded. So, he funds road projects and the minister, being an active civil engineer himself, followed up closely to ensure delivery.
But that is wrong. What we need is human capital development. Security. Bandits can operate on completed roads, bandits stopped a train already, can plant explosives to blow up train tracks. We need more investment in farming and that still falls under security because farmers have been driven by bandits.
Ibas3454: In Nigeria killing is normalized... How can a society be this animalistic?
Because there's lack of consequences for those caught. Imagine bandits being rehabilitated after all those crimes, drinking bottled water during rehabilitation while soldiers are drinking dirty water?
So the unemployed sees crime as an easy way to make it since no drastic consequences.
I've been seeing this up and down but it's not enough. How can he protect his votes. It's better he gives way to the north if they are ready to fight ruthlessly with APC.
I don't like Tinubu, but it's not about typing obi is coming online. What will he do to protect his vited should he run as president. By now we know it won't be free election so how does he plan to tackle that without wasting his supporters votes.
