Mile 12 Diesel Black Market Lagos was razed by an early morning fire outbreak which saw many properties destroyed.Also two people lost their lives in the inferno.

The cause of the fire outbreak is not known as of the time of filing this report. Fire Service officials are still battling to control the inferno.

There was pandemonium in Ladipo Market in the
Mushin area of Lagos after some traders clashed
and disrupted trading activities.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the traders, who were
aided by hoodlums, threw pebbles and bottles at
one another and engaged in a shootout before
policemen from the Mushin division intervened
and averted a total breakdown of law and order.
There was no casualty in the incident, which
reportedly lasted for two hours on Wednesday.
Our correspondent learnt that the clash was the
climax of a leadership tussle between two rival
factions in the market.
Traders, who spoke with PUNCH Metro, said the
fight was between the Yoruba and the Igbo
traders, over which tribe should head the market
union.
A witness, Chidinma Udoka, said trouble started
brewing on Wednesday when a popular Igbo
union leader was arrested by men from the State
Anti-Robbery Squad.
He said, “They arrested the man in the morning
without explanation. We later learnt that it was
engineered by a rival faction. That was when
tension started building and the factions started
preparing for a fight.
“Around 4pm, some people from the Cemetery
side of the market started throwing stones and
bottles into the main market. They also started
shooting and everybody abandoned their wares
and fled.
“They were soon countered by boys from the
upper part of the market, where the union leader
was arrested. The whole place was in turmoil and
for about two hours, the market was deserted.”
A trader, who said he did not have details of what
caused the fight, said he only saw that there was
confusion in the market and he also took to his
heels.
Our correspondent gathered that later, policemen
from the Mushin division came to the area and
restored peace to the market.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity,
said, “About two weeks ago, there was an election
in the market and an Igbo man was elected. The
traders from the Cemetery side, who are majorly
Yoruba, however, did not support the election of
the man and vowed to stop him.
“They were the ones who started the fight
yesterday.”
Our correspondent, during a visit to the market on
Thursday, observed policemen in a patrol van
marked, ‘OPS Attack 12’ positioned in the market.
Calm also seemed to have been restored to the
market as trading had resumed

Very tragic....

Yes really tragic

A fire outbreak which occurred today has burnt half of Fine Coat paint factory,located at
Alagbado Casso bus stop, Lagos.

It took the services of fire fighters to abort the condition.The source of the fire outbreak is yet to be known as at the time of this report.
