Somebody asked me what I gained by working with Goodluck Jonathan. My response was that I learnt wisdom. I learnt that It is better to lose power and gain honor than to gain power and lose honor. I learnt not to defend myself when my enemies falsely accuse me. The same media that gleefully reported their lies will eventually expose them when they see that the public is no longer buying their lies. Finally, I learnt that the best revenge against those who criticize how you do your job is to step aside and let them have the job and watch them underperform in such a manner until they get so desperate that the only achievements they can boast of are the ones you achieved during your so called underperformance. May God bless Dr. Jonathan for teaching me such wisdom! In Jesus name. #RenosSaturdayNugget For realated stories: http://onomenews..com.ng/

Thank God she got saved. she survived the fall and alive, she narrates her ordeal. “I saw my life flash in front of me for 5 minutes and I thought, so this is how it feels to be helpless and confused. One minute , I was standing on solid ground, the next minute I was on air, as the concrete caved way beneath my feet. For 5 minutes, I shouted and screamed for help, no one heard my cry and the ground was still sinking, I had to claw my way out before the whole structure could collapse. I had been standing on an abandoned Soakaway pit. Thank God there were no rain, Bless God he is still faithful, when it seems no one heard. Only he could have done this. He is still a miracle working God. Yahweh. For More photos: http://onomenews..com.ng/2016/08/lady-survives-fall-into-relinquished.html

President Buhari says in spite the oil boom a couple years back, the past administration failed to save for the rainy day. According to The Nation, President Buhari said this while speaking at the opening of the 12th All Nigeria Editors’ Conference (ANEC) 2016 in Rivers state yesterday August 4th. He was represented by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed. He said: "Nigeria has nothing to rely on to cushion the effects of the lost earnings. Many other oil producing countries and fellow Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) members are faring better, because they saved for the rainy day. Saudi Arabia, with about one fifth of Nigeria’s population, has in foreign reserves about $600 billion, which is 23 times what Nigeria has in foreign reserves. United Arab Emirates, with less than 10 million people, has $75 billion in foreign reserves. Qatar, with 2.4 million people, has $36 billion in foreign reserves. Even Angola, with just 24 million people, has about $25 billion dollars in foreign reserves. Here in Nigeria, with oil selling consistently for over $100 a barrel for many years, we simply failed to save for the rainy day, with the result that a country with a population of over 170 million today has just $26 billion in foreign reserves. To compound this, the fall in the price of crude oil is having a ripple effect: the scarcity of forex, which has resulted from the oil price crash, means that industries are struggling to get forex to import raw materials and machinery. With falling imports, the Customs Service, which is another source of revenue, is collecting less duties. Taxation is also affected, as industries with no forex to import can neither employ more people nor produce more goods. Then, Nigeria has had to fight an existential battle to root out Boko Haram in the Northeast”. Source: http://onomenews..com.ng/2016/08/president-buhari-jonathan-failed-to.html

US President Barack Obama has acted on Noth Korea's Supreme leader Kim Jong-Un’s bluff by deploying very powerful supersonic bombers to bases near North Korea - days after the dictator Kim Jong-un pronounced war on America. The North Korean leader accused Mr Obama of “crossing the red line” after introducing trade sanctions last week, and promised the “toughest countermeasures” in response. Obama in uncharacteristic fashion has deployed supersonic strike bombers to bases near North Korea - daring Kim Jong-Un to attack first. Around 300 US pilots have also been deployed alongside the B-1B Lancer bombers to Guam, a US territory in the Pacific Ocean within striking range of the North Korea’s capital of Pyongyang. A spokesman for the US Airforce said: “The B-1 units bring a unique perspective and years of repeated combat and operational experience from the Central Command theatre to the Pacific. “They will provide a significant rapid global strike capability that enables our readiness and commitment to deterrence, offers assurance to our allies, and strengthens regional security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.” Along with declaring war on the US, North Korea have also recently threatened to reduce Japan “to debris in a moment”. Most bizarrely, however, has been the dictator's order for border guards to kill snakes - amid 'fears' the snakes are spies working for his enemies. A source from within Pyongyang revealed: “From early this month, border patrol units received orders to capture snakes before they crawl over the banks of Amnok River. “The key message from the Party was that the South’s National Intelligence Service had released snakes as part of a ‘cunning scheme’ to challenge our unity. “Under orders to capture the snakes before they reach land and hatch eggs, soldiers have no choice but to wade into the river to do so, naturally leading to complaints. “Some grumble among themselves about the nature of the state’s claims, justifiably pointing out that not even a three-year-old would believe that the South would attack us with snakes over propaganda leaflets or CDs.” Source: http://onomenews..com.ng/2016/08/you-want-war-youve-got-it-us-deploys.html

Two pensioners of the Benue State Civil Service slumped on Wednesday during a protest staged by retirees under the umbrella of Concerned Benue Pensioners in Makurdi, the state capital. The retirees staged the protest against the Benue State government over alleged unpaid entitlements and gratuity which spanned 11 months. The protesting pensioners took to the streets of Makurdi carrying placards with various inscriptions demanding for the immediate payment of their pension arrears. It was during the protest that two of them allegedly slumped and became unconscious. All efforts to revive the affected retirees proved unsuccessful. They were taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention. Some of the inscriptions on the protesters’ placards read: ‘’Gov Ortom fulfill your campaign promises’’, ‘’Do not starve us to death,’’ ‘’Pay us our pension’’, ‘’We are more than 30,000 pensioners and we are dying like chickens everyday’’, “We are unable to buy our drugs’’, “Our children have stopped going to schools” and so on. The protesters barricaded the popular CBN- Government House Roundabout causing gridlock for several hours while all efforts by security operatives to calm them down and allow free passage of vehicles failed until they finally decided to move themselves to the main Government House. The protesters were received at the Government House by the Acting Secretary to the Benue State Government, Dr. Bem Meladu, commissioners of finance, education and the Head of Service. Presenting their protest letter to the SSG for onward delivery to the governor who was said to be out of the state, the Chairman of the Concerned Benue Pensioners, Mr. Peter Ikyado, said the protest would not end if the state government failed to attend to their plight. He added that his members were tired of “continued failed promises” by the state government on the payment of their pension arrears. Ikyado said, “We had variously addressed letters on the issue of our unpaid benefits to President (Muhammadu) Buhari, Governor Samuel Ortom, the state Head of Service and other relevant stakeholders including the media. This is because we pensioners feel that we have suffered enough and have been short-changed. Irregular pension payments have become the order of the day. The payments do not even reflect what the pensioners should be earning due to lack of harmonisation of pension rate increases over the years.” The chairman, who could not hold back his tears while delivering the speech, had to discontinue with it and directed his secretary to complete the message. Meanwhile, the Acting SSG, Bem Meladu, appealed to the protesting pensioners to be patient with the state government as all measures were already in place to commence the payment of pensioners in the state.
