Although the new government have plans to carry out some developments, the question is will these project produce top quality development like the private real estate companies? My Questions are: 1. Can the government alone provide the number of structures needed to solve the housing problems? 2. If not, Can the government regulate property valuation to help reduce the cost of owning a home? 3. In your own opinion, What should the government do as regards the cost of rent and home buying in Lagos and Abuja, particularly Abuja? 4.What should the value of a house be based on? MRBrownJ: I agree and disagree at the same time, yes i agree some people buy homes in what u regard rubbish areas, but also keep in mind that someone who buy's a house in a rubbish area for N5m, that house value would probably double few years from the time of purchase, owning a house is not just for having somewhere to stay, most times its an investment. He can sell the house and use the money to buy a house in what you might consider a correct area in the future. 69 Likes 5 Shares |

NaijaFutbol: Well, For someone who is starting a job, don't you think other stuff like wardrobe (he has to dress up to office expectations), Feeding, Transportation (considering the fluctuating cost of transportation due to unending arising factors ), Utility bills, etc. I believe there has to be a certain level of financial stability before one can start saving for a home, besides its easier to save with a spouse if the person is married. 29 Likes 1 Share |

drkay: Impressive Regardless of what the new guy building his house is into, I don't judge people but he still thought of owning his own home. Lots of these so called yahoo boys do not think that way so there must be something different about his reasoning. 21 Likes 1 Share |

In your own opinion, at what age do you feel one should start thinking about owning his own house and make it a priority. I personally think Age 30, while some might say age 40. Remember that planning to own a house either through buying or building from scratch does not necessarily mean one has the whole money but one could decide to save towards building/buying a house or secure a financial aid. Properties / It's Now Time For Your Home To "Go Solar" - Agree? by onotukabiru(m): 10:44am On Apr 19, 2016 |
Abuja property developer puts up a building that runs exclusively on wind and solar power, 40KW of renewable energ. (The Go Solar Project) In what the authorities attributed to system failure, Nigeria’s grid system totally collapsed recently, leaving millions of citizens in utter darkness. Although, Power, Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola said it was because “four turbines had stopped working,” the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) was unable to give any reason on its website. Statistics however obtained from the TCN website indicated that power allocation to all distribution companies across the country dropped to 0 Megawatts (MW) during this period. Coincidentally, this happened when President, Muhammadu Buhari was in faraway United States of America (USA) to press that the country be allowed to exploit its nuclear and other renewable energy resources to boost power infrastructure in Nigeria. But what is really the lasting and cost effective solution to the power problem in Nigeria? An Abuja based Renewable Energy Company seems to have an answer to the question. Within the newly developed Guzape District in the heart of Abuja lies a unique 10-apartment block building built into 5 Terrace duplexes. Interestingly none of the apartments is connected to the electricity grid even though the grid has reached Guzape District. Completely powered by Blue Camel Energy Solution, the building currently runs on a hybrid system of solar and wind energy, providing enough electricity for the residential apartments, including air conditioning. For Sulaiman Yusuf, the renewable energy entrepreneur behind the construction, the buildings are proof that Nigeria’s energy future has a large off-grid component.
