Car TalkHow 'tokunbo' Car Dealers Deal With Ban On Vehicle Importation by ontolegit(op): 9:36pm On Mar 02, 2017
Many dealers of fairly-used imported cars otherwise known as “tokunbo” in Kano have resorted to other businesses since the Federal Government banned the importation of vehicles through the land borders.

Some of the dealers said on Thursday that they found it necessary to shift to other businesses in order to survive the current economic recession.

The dealers said that the Federal Government’s ban on importation of vehicles through the land borders has negatively affected their business, forcing many to switch to other businesses.

One of the dealers, Alhaji Nura Sheka, said he had been in the business for the past 10 years but never had it so bad like this year, following the introduction of the new policy.

He said, “I lost four cars because I could not clear them before the deadline given by the government to clear our goods and the ones I have on ground have not been sold due to lack of patronage.”

Another dealer, Alhaji Haruna Babba, said following the introduction of the new policy, he had since joined his brother at the Sabon Gari Market where they were currently selling food items.

He said, “I can no longer rely on a business which has no future anymore. I have some cars on display in my boss’s shop at Olusegun Obasanjo Way in the metropolis.”

Babba said that his decision to take to food business was borne out of his belief that the business would always be profitable because people must eat under whatever situation.

“Business of food items is profitable and thriving because people must eat under whatever situation they find themselves,” he said.

Babba said that the few who were still in the business had to travel to Lagos to clear their imported vehicles, pointing out that most of those who remained in the business were used to Lagos.

Alhaji Ja’afat Jikamshi said most of the car dealers who switched to other businesses were those with small capital.

“Some dealers who cannot go to Lagos, now prefer to buy used cars from people in the town, repair them and sell to interested buyers,’’ Jikamshi said.

According to him, there were many other dealers who were happy with the new policy.

He said that such dealers found it easier and less stressful to go and conduct their business in Lagos because of its proximity.

“Even though the recession has adversely affected the business, many car dealers are still happy with the new policy as it is less stressful for them, ‘’ Jikamshi said.

PoliticsWhy We Visited Nnamdi Kanu In Prison-soludo by ontolegit(op): 8:29am On Mar 01, 2017
The former governor of the CBN, Charles Soludo has given reasons why he visited the leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Soludo who spoke to journalists after the visit to Kanu at Kuje Prison said the act was in solidarity with the detained IPOB leader.

Soludo visited Kanu in company of renowned economist, Pat Utomi, Law Mefor, national secretary of the Alliance Democracy, Udenta Udenta among others under aegis of Nzuko Umunna, a coalition of all major groups in the South-east and South-south.

The former CBN governor also added that the visit was also to consult with Kanu on his agitation for Biafra and the propostion of the way forward in liberating and ensuring development in the South-east and South-south region.

He said: “We visited to hear his own point of view and also Nigeria has never been divided like it is now!”

Soludo said the agitations in the region is due to corruption via looting by elites and the failure to address issues and challenges ravaging the country.

He also said that no citizen of Nigeria deserves the kind of the treatment meted to Kanu and his co-accused.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not above the law, neither should he be put beneath it,” Soludo said.

Soludo had urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the federal government to release Kanu and his colleagues.

PoliticsAustralia Goes 25 Years Without Recession by ontolegit(op): 7:46am On Mar 01, 2017
Australia's economy has jumped sharply in the last quarter of 2016, allowing the resource-rich economy to mark 25 years without recession.
It brings the country close to breaking the Netherlands' record of modern-era uninterrupted economic growth.
Australia's economy had contracted in the third quarter but the surprise rebound pulled annual figures back to a 2.4% growth rate.
The recovery was attributed largely to strong exports and consumer spending.
Australia has not seen a recession - defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth - since 1991.

It is now just one quarter short of the Dutch record set between 1982 and 2008.

Australia is heavily dependant on global commodity prices
"The outlook for the next year is reasonably bright," Shane Oliver of AMP Capital told the BBC. "We are seeing a pickup in export volumes and we have seen a big rebound in key commodity prices."
Mr Oliver added: "Growth should probably get back to 2.5%, maybe 3% over the course of this year."
Estimates by the country's central bank see growth picking up to around 3% for 2017 thanks to the recovering commodity prices.

CrimeBreaking:nigerian Police Storms Peace Corp Office, arrest National Commandant by ontolegit(op): 7:27am On Mar 01, 2017
The ongoing onslaught by the Nigerian Police against the Peace Corps of Nigeria, took a dramatic step on Tuesday, when the Officers of the Police invaded the new National Headquarters of the Corps, taking into custody, the National Commandant, Amb. Dickson Akoh.

The youth based organisation whose Bill was recently passed by the National Assembly, had recently come under serious attack by the Police, which had kicked against the establishment of the Corps, during the public hearing at the National Assembly.

It could be recalled that the Nigerian Police shut down the training orientation camp in Kwara and Abuja, a week ago, thereby, forcing cadet officers to vacate the camps.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police were seen on Tuesday at the official opening ceremony of the National Headquarters of the Corps, opposite Jabi Lake, Abuja, with the Nigerian Customs Service and other paramilitary and security agencies.

The event was also attended by the Minister of Sports and Youths Development, members of the National Assembly, Traditional Rulers, Religious bodies and youth organisations.

The report DAILY POST showed that the Police in a dramatic way, invaded the premises around 11.30pm on Tuesday, when the event for the official opening of the office had rounded off and the National Commandant was about taking his leave.

“We don’t know where they have taken him to”, a fainty voice from the Corps told our Correspondent.

Investigation, however, revealed that, Dickson Akoh was held by the FCT Command of the Nigerian Police.

As of the time of filing this report, the reason for the arrest was unknown.

Romance5 Ways To Make Sex With Condom Much Easier by ontolegit(op): 4:02am On Feb 28, 2017
Like flossing your teeth, using condoms is one of those things that's necessary but not always enjoyable. But as we all learned back in sex ed, when used properly, a penis raincoat can protect you from STIs and pregnancy more effectively than any other method.

That’s why we freaked when we saw this study, which suggests that pretty much no one is using them. Of the 25 women aged 18-24 that were interviewed, only two of them said using condoms consistently is important. And even those two women didn't use them every time they had sex.

“A lot of women are using birth control, so they’re less concerned about an unwanted pregnancy," says NYC-based sex therapist Michael Aaron, Ph.D. "But it’s worrisome because you can’t mitigate STIs using the Pill or an IUD.”

In the study, the top reason why women skipped the love glove was because they thought sex feels better without one. But that doesn't have to be the case! Here are five surefire ways to make getting down with condoms sexy as hell.

5 Ways to Make Sex with Condoms Feel SO Much Better

“Condoms feel rubbery and there's more unpleasant resistance than skin-on-skin contact,” says Aaron. Word.

Luckily, there’s a simple fix for this dilemma: lube, people! “Even though condoms come with some lubrication on them, I advocate for adding more,” says Aaron. “It reduces friction, which enhances physical sensations.”

You may want to try a silicone-based formula, which is thicker and longer lasting than water-based varieties. (Steer clear of lubes containing oil, which can cause latex to deteriorate.)

Apply one to three drops, focusing on the head of the penis. “This is the first point of entry, and the thrusting motion of sex has a suction-like effect that disperses the lube all around,” Aaron says. We always wondered how that worked.

The upside of dulling his below-the-belt sensations with a condom is that “it lessens the intensity for guys who struggle with rapid ejaculation, which helps them last longer,” says Aaron. That means you reap the rewards. Hello, O-town!

Take advantage by indulging in high-friction positions like doggy style and side-by-side, which research shows are particularly stimulating for guys.

Condom inventors have been busy, and it’s worth experimenting with some of their creations. We're talking ribbed and studded textures (external for your pleasure and internal for him), thin designs, channels created to help the flow of lube, warming condoms, tingly condoms, twisted and enlarged heads, and glow-in-the-dark materials. There’s something for everyone!

“Textured condoms may be appealing to women because they can rub up against the wall of her vagina more effectively,” says Aaron. Duly noted.

When you’re in the heat of the moment, the last thing you want to do is race to the bathroom for a sperm goalie, unwrap it, and maneuver it onto his joystick.

Solution: Keep the condom in your bedside table and put it on in a sultry way. “Incorporate it into pre-intimacy so it feels like part of the flow, rather than a disruption,” says Aaron. Depending on your oral dexterity, you can try using your mouth to roll the rubber onto his penis. Alternately, you can give his family jewels some oral love while he puts it on himself.

Other options from Aaron: Straddle his chest (facing his peen) so he gets a sexy view while you slide it on. Lastly (and our personal favorite), you can position yourself over his mouth and have him go down on you while you roll it on. Think of it as a safe and sexy 69.

If condoms are taking a toll on your pleasure, try certain moves to amplify the amount of pressure you feel, says Aaron. He suggests missionary with your legs closer together, the G-Whiz, or the Seashell.

“These modifications and positions temporarily change the dimensions of your vagina during sex, making the vaginal canal narrower and/or shorter,” says Aaron. “As a result, his penis will feel bigger and tighter inside of you, which will increase sensation.”

All of that plus a generous amount of lube = a solid roll in the hay.

EducationStudents Of Kwara State Origin In All Tertiary Institutions by ontolegit(op): 7:40pm On Feb 27, 2017
Updated February 27, 2017
Students of Kwara state origin under the aegis of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), have staged a demonstration demanding the payment of three years bursary allocation to them by the state government running into nearly two billion Naira.

The students have alleged that the yearly allocation of over 500 million Naira for bursary to students should be paid, wondering how the government could renegade on its promise.

Taking off from the state headquarters of the Nigerian Labor Congress where they assembled, the students moved to the police headquartes, where plain clothed security men had attempted to stop them.

The Acting National President of NAKSS, Kamal Dosunmu, explained that for the past three years, the state government has been allocating 500 million Naira yearly to the students bursary which they never received.

In reaction to this, the State Commissioner For Information and Communication at a media briefing noted that the Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, had met with the students where he assured them of the readiness of the government to pay them when the 2017 budget is passed.

“The governor in the spirit of transparency and all-encompassing leadership broke the council meeting to attend to the students demonstrating over the non-payment of bursary.

“He made it clear to them that provisions had been made in the 2017 budget for the payment of bursary”.

According to commissioner, Ahmed also made them realise that the bursary was a privilege to cushion the responsibility of their parents and not right.

This is my story and that of my other colleagues.i have been to the school clinic several times this semester but no drug,no test. At one time I was there to treat malaria, but the attending doctor said no test to diagnose hence no drugs.some weeks later I went there to deworm and I got the same response. This is what we are facing here,my colleagues and I.if this trend is not quickly averted then the end may be fatal.
