Bukola Saraki or “Uncle Bukky” as he is called has shown immense courage throwing around the word “corruption” seeing as he is the first Nigerian Senate President to be issued an arrest warrant while in office. He was also the recipient of a 13-count corruption charge in 2015, a suspect in a robbery case, was the subject of a joint investigation by the EFCC, CCB and DSS. While in power as governor, investigations showed that he abused his office, borrowedbillions from banks and used these loans to buy properties in Lagos, London and Abuja. As Senate President, he falsely declared his assets, owned assets beyond his legitimate earnings, operated foreign accounts. In response to the dismissal of charges filed against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau, the Federal Government filed an appeal against the dismissal because of the gravity of his crimes.As Senate President, Saraki was apparently too busy planning and financing robberies and illegally acquiring assets to pass any meaningful laws. He has been in the primary place of power, the Senate, for over 3 years and did not manage to sponsor even one legislation. He did not have the peoples’ best interest as a Senate President and will not have our best interest in any other capacity. Saraki did nothing with his office; how can a man who had the power to draft and change laws that could positively affect the lives of Nigerians refuse to do so but has the audacity to tell us who or what is best for us. If he is so knowledgeable on what Nigeria needs, why
has he made zero efforts to work towards that. His time in office, however, has been inundated with criminal charge after criminal charge. How can an officer charged with creating our laws also be the criminal who breaks the same laws he is meant to protect? Saraki’s Chief of Staff was also recently arraigned by the EFCC on a 13-count charge of financial fraud of over N3.5 billion-he is simply following his boss’ footsteps. It would either mean Saraki was also complicit in this crime or was careless or not intelligent enough to notice such massive looting by his direct staff. - The Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (details below) has made
available N82 billion in funding to 350,000 farmers of Rice, Wheat, Maize, Cotton, Cassava, Poultry,
Soy Beans and Groundnut; who have
cultivated about 400,000 hectares of land.

- The ABP has substantially raised local production of rice; yields have doubled from 2-3 tonnes per
hectare in areas; Nigeria’s paddy production has doubled compared to 2014 levels.

- Between 2016 and 2018, eight new rice mills have come on-stream in Nigeria.

- More than a billion dollars of private sector investments in the production of Rice, Wheat, Sugar, Poultry, Animal Feed, Fertilizers, etc, since 2015.

- Nigeria’s milled rice production has increased by about 60 p
ercent, from 2.5 million MT in 2015, to 4
million MT in 2017.

- The Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (which involves a partnership with the Government of Morocco,
for the supply of phosphate), has resulted in the revitalization of 14 blending plants across the country, with a total installed capacity in excess of 2 million MT. The benefits include annual savings of US$200 million in foreign exchange, and ₦60 billion annually in budgetary provisions for Fertilizer subsidies. The Scheme has also made it possible for Farmers to purchase Fertilizer at prices up to 30 percent cheaper than previously available.

In August 2016, Atiku Abubakar was issued a letter by the EFCC requesting him to shed light on his alleged involvement in the unconstitutional release of funds to the PTDF and placing these funds in two different banks that he chose. In his well-rehearsed reply, Atiku claimed his indictment by the EFCC was an attempt to muddy the waters of his political ambitions.
However, the report, which was an audit of the PTDF from the 1990s to May 31, 2006, found Atiku culpable for mismanagement of funds. According to the report, Atiku’s improper approval for the release and placement of $125million in 2013 without following due process amounted to abuse of office. These funds were transferred to Atiku’s private businesses. Nigerians curiously wait to see how Atiku attempts to explain his tremendous fraud allegations both home and abroad, how his twenty years in public office was enough to transform him from a modest official to a multi-millionaire and one of Nigeria’s richest business men. How can this poster boy of corruption possibly hope to lead Nigeria’s corruption fight? That could be likened to a naked man offering to clothe another person.

FIERY Enugu Catholic Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka has urged Nigerians to pray hard to overcome what
he tagged “impending unimaginable difficulty” in 2019, urging Nigerians to support President
Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection in 2019.
The call by Rev. Fr. Mbaka who is also the Founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, to back President
Buhari, came after few weeks the Catholic Bishops in the country barred Catholic priests and religious
leaders of the catholic faith from endorsing any candidate for the forthcom
ing general elections. Mbaka had on Tuesday during his New Year prophetic message and crossover service stated that the
