can u try restoring the system to the tim it was bfor wen it was workin
or beta still get an antivirus that is workin fine n then after cleaning it restore the system.

or better still if it still persist,
try reinstalling the system i.e repairing with windows xp cd or windows vista whichever one. it will return back to normal

if you are using vista.

i will advise you to get advanced vista optimizer.

you can also do this on vista

if not go to start- run then type msconfig.then press enter. go to the startup tab, uncheck everything there except for your antivirus. then click apply and ok
it will prompt you to reboot do that.

to defragment go to my computer, right click on c drive and then pick properties.
go to the tools bar then click on defragment and then ok

that will do it

there are different softwares that are gud enough that you can use to download from rapidshare. the only thing is that you must an internet connection that doesnt break often, cos if it does it interrupts the downloading. just input in the sites and leave it overnight. it will surely will have downloaded ur stuffs for you
