Business / Re: No One Is Talking As Naira Falls In Dirt Mire Against The Dollars by opendo89: 9:16pm On Aug 04, 2016
The question is whether we peg, or don't peg the naira, All these rates are just being fuelled by speculation and greedy cohorts! Nothing more, We need to ask ourselves serious questions.
Has there been any major surge in importation in the past 2 weeks. If so, who is importing what?
The crude oil. Price has been relatively stable for about 2 months or so. What then is fuelling this increase in rates.
Consumer items have already increased by over 50% over the last quarter an basic economics tell me that as prices rise, the propensity to spend reduces. Is it that Nigerians are no longer saving but spending.
The govt set up entities to control prices, but these people appear to be either s or hold just a fraction of the true exchange market and are thus powerless. The only way will be to peg the Naira, till this noise is over. If the govt is percieved as not moving it's stance. Rates will adjust. All those vodoo economists that don't want us to peg. Is this you solution till we become Zimbabwe?

Please I want to understand what the standard process is in other climes. Although I am not certain, I think royalty controls the blocks in places like Saudi and Abu Dhabi. However, if we begin to agitate and these oil blocks are taken away from these people, are we not going to allocate it to some other persons. If the government as it is today takes over all oil blocks, the money will still enter private pockets. What the government should demand is just that the correct amount of taxes be paid plus all outstanding amount from IBB Era till date.

Isn't it an anomaly that 95% of these loans were taken between 31st Dec 2010 (last day of the financial year) and 31st March 2011. Was this a conspiracy?

@ Blogabiz, Please are you talking of the Bank or their Insurance arm because I am getting a bit confused with your story. If it's the insurance arm which I believe, because it looks like you were give a policy document. What you took is an insurance policy with a savings component.
Do you mind stating the exact product you bought, and the terms of surrender as stated in the policy document.
Are there any risk premium charges stated in the schedule and what is the premium frequency?
How long was the policy in force before you decided to terminate?
Was it the agent or the company rep. who told you that you couldn't terminate the policy?
You can try reporting the case to NAICOM. which is the regulatory body for insurance companies after properly reviewing the document.
Also ensure that you have your facts stated in your mail/letter.

I had this idea. Let me introduce her to them, and see if they both accept her for who she is first. Then somewhere along the way (probably a few months after) when I sense they've approved. I'll just throw that line in. It's more difficult to reject who you've become acquainted with, than a total stranger. God help me with this coup oo! kiss

The topic is quite confusing. It should be guys who marry single mums not single ladies.
Corrected:- Lol, Guess I still see her more as a lady than a mum

I feel a lot happier and at peace when i'm with her. The only but is she has a little daughter who I have become fond of. The only problem now is: How do I convince my parents to buy into this idea of me marrying a single mum with little drama

Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Not Sick” We Don’t Need IMF Loans – Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun by opendo89: 6:49am On Apr 17, 2016
If our youths could just do some research an back their arguments with constructive statements, things here will be a whole lot better.
America is the largest debtor in the world. They live and thrive on debt, Their saving grace is that they are they have the world's most dominant currency (Dollar). We cannot tow that line. So we need to look at sound economies with which we share similar characteristics and see how they are borrowing. Let's take a look at Britain. Total national debt is just above. £1.5 trillion, a third of which was borrowed from bank of england through quantitative easing program. Interest rates 4%. Compare this with America. National debt is $18.9 trillion. 47% of which is owned by foreign investors.
With our penchant for corruption in this country. A cash loan has and will always be useless, because your politicians will waste it on constituency projects. (borehole, overseas trips, town hall et al) Things that won't add any value to your GDP. Then another govt starts paying loan. Our saving grace was that crude oil was priced way above it's true value, due to OPEC and Co placing restrictions on production to drive up market price. We were able to pay back the loans and also suffer devaluation due to the ridiculous conditionalities that came with the loan.
Now a govt is saying, enough is enough, no more cash loans. Let's reduce dollar demand starting with our largest import partner. Let's agree on a fixed exchange rate so there will be no fluctuations for the next 3-5 years. And let them assist us with their technology.( Truth is no country will transfer technology to another). The questions we should be asking ourselves as youth is. How can I benefit from this govt deal.
