National leader of the All Progressives Congress and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has denied allegations raised by online journal, Sahara Reporters in its report titled: “Threat of perjury trial: How Jonathan Blackmailed Bola Tinubu before 2011 Presidential election”, threatening legal action if the publishers fail to issue a retraction.

According to Vanguard, Tinubu Media Organisation has also confirmed his interest in the Vice President slot of his party.

A human rights lawyer and activist, Olatunji Abayomi, has demanded a retraction arguing that the report is not only false, but defamatory.


“We demand a statement acknowledging your error of trying to damage our client’s reputation as well as a statement regretting the same.
“Please this matter must be attended to immediately otherwise you run the risk of multiple civil suits all over the world in defence of our client, “Abayomi wrote.

The lawyer said the report attempted to defame Tinubu’s reputation by spreading old, utterly false gossip in hope of wrongly destroying his prospects, adding that there was no charge at the Federal High Court numbered FHC/ABJ/CR/04/2011, nor was Tinubu tried or convicted.
Abayomi noted that the United States Embassy, in its February 4, 2003 response to an inquiry by the Inspector-General of Police, stated that there is “no criminal arrest, records, wants or warrants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

“If you had checked readily available records, you would have found that he travels periodically to the United States. Had he been engaged in criminal wrongdoing, he would have been ineligible for entry into that country,” Abayomi wrote.

The said story generated reactions on the social media, as the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, urged Tinubu to come clean on the issue.

In a related development, Senator Bola Tinubu has confirmed his interest in the vice presidential ticket of the APC, stating that governance had little to do with religion, region or rumour but more with vision and competence. This was disclosed in a statement by his media aide, Sunday Dare.

A member of a kidnappers’ gang which abducted the daughter of the Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Usman Bibire, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Bibire’s 20-year-old daughter, Sa-adat, was abducted by the gang on Thursday, November 6, in Uzoro, Delta State.

Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers, who were students of a polytechnic in Delta State, had opened a fake Facebook account where they posed as Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

According to the police, the gang allegedly lured Sa-adat, who was a recent winner of a beauty pageant, to come over to Delta as Dangote was ready to make her a brand ambassador of Dangote Noodles.

Our correspondent learnt the victim travelled from Lagos to Warri to meet the gang, from where she was driven away to Uzoro and locked up in a hideout.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the gang, which abducted the lady for about two weeks, allegedly demanded a ransom of N20m from the special adviser’s family.

PUNCH Metro gathered that upon the information received by the police on Thursday, November 20, the Special Anti-robbery Squad team headed for Uzoro, Delta State, where they secured the release of Sa-adat.

The police also arrested Patrick Ifada, a member of the gang, while other gang members fled on suspecting the police’s presence.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, 23-year-old Ifada said the gang had set up a bank account in Malaysia where they instructed Bibire to pay the ransom.

He said, “We opened a fake Facebook account bearing Alhaji Aliko Dangote. We met the lady on Facebook as a beauty pageant winner and convinced her to come to Delta State. We said she would sign an endorsement with a company under the Dangote Group.

“She fell for the bait and came. When she arrived in Warri, we sent a taxi cab to meet her and she was taken to Uzoro ─ our base.While she was with us, we made her to call her parents in Lagos and we demanded a N20m ransom.

“I was the one assigned to stay with her in the hideout. She was with us for about two weeks.

“We asked the special adviser to pay the money into a Malaysian account we had set up. It was owned by one Fred.”

Ifada, who claimed to be a National Diploma 1 student of the polytechnic, added that he was warned by the gang leader, identified simply as Destiny, not to rape or assault the lady.

“The five of us in the gang are students of the polytechnic. I accepted to join the gang because of the money they promised to pay me.

“Nobody raped her while I stayed with her. Destiny warned us that we were to make money from her family and not to assault her,” he said.

Our correspondent learnt that the police arrested Ifada and rescued the victim inside a private school’s hostel on Onitsha Street, Uzoro, Delta State, which they used as a hideout.

Other fleeing members of the gang were identified as Destiny, Omajuwa, Ugada and Chuka.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Aderanti, while noting that efforts were on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang, assured Lagos residents of a crime-free yuletide.

He said, “We received the complaint in Lagos from the S.A. and I promised him that my men were going to rescue his daughter.

“Two decoy teams were deployed in Warri and after seven days, the victim was rescued in a house on the outskirt of Uzoro in the Isoko South local Government Area of Delta State.

“Efforts are on to arrest other gang members presently at large.

“Once again, I assure residents of Lagos that the police will ensure a crime-free Yuletide as we reduce crime to the barest minimum.”

CONTRARY to popular opinion that influential ministers of God are superhuman and immune from challenges which mere mortals face, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye recently shocked members when he declared that he was susceptible to fear, including other human weaknesses.

Ministering at the November monthly Holy Ghost Service with the theme: ‘Great Expectations’, Daddy G.O., as he is fondly called by members and non-members, at the Redemption Church revealed to the mammoth crowd how he was gripped with the fear of death during one of his numerous ecclesiastical trips outside the country.

Known for using personal experiences to illustrate his sermons despite series of criticisms from such personal testimonies, Pastor Adeboye recalled how he was gripped with fear and close to death during one of his trips with the then Nigeria Airways.

In his words: “Contrary to what many of you may think I am human and I have my fears too. There were times I have had cause to fear and doubt because I am human but God always ended up disappointing my fears and doubts.

“In one of my trips with the then Nigeria Airways, the pilot had announced, when we were already airborne, that there were indications that the plane would crash-land. Immediately the pilot made the announcement, I was afraid and as if that was not enough, he said there were expert fire fighters who would put out the fire when the plane crashes.”

Continuing, Pastor Adeboye said: “Immediately I embarked on a quick run through my life just to be sure I was ready to meet my Maker. I also told God that I never knew this was how I would end my race. I was really afraid,” noting that there are some things that will happen to people that will make them to be really afraid, anointing or no anointing.

Hmm! Did u ever imagine that it was supposed to be two schools to be bombed on Thursdays attack in Niger?

The first was a tertiary institution – Federal College of Education, Kontagora – while the other was Maryam Babangida Science College named after a former first lady, Maryam Babangida, by the government of Dr. Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu. Two bombers were involved. That of the Federal College of Education, Kontagora was perpetrated by a female and the mission was accomplished but with low casualty while that of Minna by a male was aborted.


Maryam Babangida Science College is a female college planned to be a model school.
On the fateful Thursday, the students were at the assembly ground not knowing that there was a sinister move meters away by a bomber. At about 7.30 a.m., a female teacher hurrying to school suspected strange movements in the bush. She also perceived the odour of Indian hemp which sent a signal to her that something strange was happening nearby.

This led her to quickening her steps, but ahead of her was a young man carrying a school bag who pretended as if he was answering nature’s call.

Then her phone rang and this caught the attention of the suspect who stopped her and threw some questions at her in Hausa.

President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated the Super Eagles on their victory over the Red Devils of Congo in Pointe Noire on Saturday, describing it as “dogged and hard-fought.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Eagles defeated their Congolese rivals 2- 0 to revive the country’s hope of qualifying for 2015 African Nations Cup Finals.

Jonathan, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, applauded the Super Eagles’ “patriotic, determined and courageous display in front of a vociferous and partisan home crowd.”
The victory, he said, had placed Nigeria in good stead for qualification to defend the African Nations Cup, which it currently holds, at next year’s finals, to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
“On behalf of all soccer loving Nigerians, the president heartily commends the Super Eagles for their winning performance in Pointe-Noire.
