Good day everyone, concerned fellows, optometry and non optometry students alike.

I have the been silent for the past week because I was banned...yes banned! For writing about the truth, for telling the world. Even my honest topic was taken down. I know I spammed threads but in a way, it shows people read.
The mod that took the first topic down, God bless you. Take this one down too when you are ready.

This movement hasn't changed it course. We are still on the path, the path to making sure our voices are heard and we are listened to.

Has the VC heard it yet?

Does he know that outside his "ACed" office and beautiful edifice, some students still suffer like they belong in the era when education was newly introduced.

"Optometry program was also founded (established) within the Faculty of Science in 1972 under the headship of Dr.Paul Ogbuehi (department of Physics). By 1976, Optometry program in UNIBEN had on its faculty qualified professional with practice licences from Canada, England, and United States of America. The program had a faculty-student ratio of 2:1, many from College of Medicine and Medical Sciences earned its accredited On 1 April 1975 the University at the request of the State Government, was taken over by the Federal Government and became a Federal University."

Great respect to our College of Medicine brethrens.

How old is Optometry, University of Benin and we can't even boast of a hut to call our own.

Students over the years, have gone through the "great department" and watch each year as it detoriate. They complain but how many action have they taken. What was the outcome?
Set by set, Optometry students eat the worst of dirts every year and now we are tired of inhaling the stink!

We do not want a "no venue" excuse for our class to be cancelled. We are tired of the nomadic way of life. Optometry is tired of her classes camping out under trees.

We want a new lease of life. We want to be heard and listened to. Uniben belong to us too and we are not outcasts.

This fight isn't for the present, it is for the future of our growing department and more sets to come.

A new age of OPTOMETRIST WILL ARISE AND THEY WILL TAKE THE STAND. THEY WILL SCREAM TO THE HIGHER AUTHORITIES, "VC Prof Faraday Orumwense,

MEN THAT PULL THE STRINGS OF UNIVERSITY OF BENIN,
WE WONT HIDE OUR TAILS AND COWER.
WE WON'T GO VIOLENT BUT DONT PUSH US!
WE ARE NOT PLEADING, FAR FROM IT. WE ARE DEMANDING! We DEMAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT AND JUST. YOU ARE NOT TRAINING COWS AND SHEEPS TO BE BETTER DOCTORS THAT CAN FUNCTION ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. YOU ARE TRAINING HUMANS.
IF WE CANT BE TRAINED IN A CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT, THEN WHY HAVE THE DEPARTMENT.
Change the status quo and GIVE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, OPTOMETRY A BUILDING!
