A vicious, cocaine-addled husband tried to kill his wife and attacked her sister in a row at their family home.

Dan Draghici has been jailed for 20 years after leaving wife Elena, 31, with serious injuries in the attack on March 1.

He was found guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday.

Draghici had also tried to stab Elena’s sister and threatened to kill his daughter after an argument at the family home in Smethwick .

The court heard how he, a habitual cocaine user who was seeking treatment, had tested positive when taken into custody and had been drinking prior to the row.

On the day of the attack he had spoken with Elena’s sister about his fears that his wife was seeing someone else and had said he was going to get her out of her job.

He then went to a shop in Smethwick and bought a packet of three knives and a stainless steel knife.

Later that evening, Draghici attacked his wife while their daughter was upstairs with Elena’s sister, who came downstairs after hearing the screams.

She jumped on Draghici’s back and managed to pull him off Elena allowing her to escape, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Draghici then pushed Elena’s sister to the floor and tried to stab her, but she managed to get hold of the knife and bent it.

Draghici then ordered her to bring his wife back, threatening to kill his daughter if she didn’t.

Meanwhile Elena had managed to flag a passing taxi down and ask for help.

Her sister found her moments later, still holding the knife she had taken from Draghici.

Draghici was found shortly afterwards, sitting in his car with his daughter. He had stabbed himself in the leg.

The 42-year-old had pleaded not guilty to attempted murder but was convicted in a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Following the court hearing, Detective Inspector Jason McMahon said: “This has been a truly horrific time for Elena and her family who are trying to come to terms with what has happened to them.

“Elena sustained serious injuries during the assault which she is still recovering from, I hope that the sentence will be of some comfort to them and help them rebuild their lives.

“I would also like to thank the community, who gave crucial evidence at this trial which has undoubtedly assisted the jury reach their guilty verdict and offered tremendous support to Elena through this difficult time.

"The judge has told Draghici that he must serve at least two thirds of his sentence.”

12-year old Victoria Oyindamola Oluwadare, an Ibadan-based little girl from an average Nigerian family has been described as a very bubbly and brilliant kid with excellent academic records to show for it.

The fresh Junior Secondary School graduate's display of rare leadership qualities and high level of maturity at such a tender age made her the golden child in the family of 5 with massive future expectations from her parents.

Unfortunately, Victoria's shine got covered by a dark cloud in the month of May, 2016 when she suddenly became very sick and was rushed to the University College Hospital, UCH in Ibadan, Oyo State where she was diagnosed of a life-threatening heart disease named Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) coupled with a severe pulmonary hypertension.

Due to the severity of the heart defect and inadequate medical facilities to undertake such a critical surgical operation in Nigeria, Victoria's parents have been referred to an Indian hospital - Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. Preliminary inquiries revealed the medical treatment in the Asian country will cost a sum of $6,500 but travelling cost and other logistics involved in medical tourism upped the bill by an extra $3,000 to make $9,500 on the whole which her family can't afford.

This has necessitated an online appeal to the general public to come to the aid of the family and save Victoria's life.

A Tori News correspondent who independently verified the veracity of Victoria's medical condition with documents from her health file as earlier posted on this platform reached out to her distraught mother, Funke Oluwadare, a staff of Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Jericho - Ibadan. The tearful woman used that juncture to appeal again to good Samaritans to help salvage her daughter's life.

She said amidst tears and gnashing of teeth "I am appealing to Nigerians to assist in saving my daughter's life. She keeps getting sicker daily. It is traumatic to watch her go through this helplessly''.

"I have gone against all odds to save money but all to no avail"

"My husband and I are just average civil servants living from hand to mouth due to the high costs of stabilizing our daughter's ill-health pending on when she gets proper treatment''

''I feel torn apart watching my daughter in such sickly state as she constantly vomits and complains of severe body weakness, irritation and other sorts of unimaginable discomfort'' she reiterated.

When asked about the state of the financial contributions thus far, she averred that some Nigerians have been forthcoming but the family is lagging far behind in meeting the current target sum of $9,500 which is N2, 995,000 approximately.

This video has gotten people laughing really hard on social media.

The video which has since gone viral online shows a man trying to steal another man's money.

He had actually succeeded in taking the money when he looked up and saw that he was being watched by a CCTV camera.

The man, obviously shocked, immediately became remorseful and did something else that got people laughing.

He dropped the money on the floor and tapped his victim to notify him of the money on the ground, like an honest god-fearing man.

He then placed his hands together in a sign of plea while looking up at the camera.
