Carry along, the originals of all the documents you uploaded. Use Paper clips to hold one photocopy behind each original and arrange them according to the checklist so the interviewer don't bounce you quickly. You will be asked questions like; 1. Do you speak German? 2. Why Germany? 3. Do you have a reference 4. If Yes, Provide details. 5. Do you have any other friend or relative in Germany? 6. If yes, give details about them. 7. Do you already have job offer? 8. If you don't get a job within the period, what will you do? 9. Why Germany? 10. What will you be doing in Germany? 11. Where will you be living in Germany? 12. How long do you intend to stay in Germany? 13. Have you been to Germany before? 14.Have you been to any other European country before? 15 If yes, for what purpose? 15. Have you been applying for jobs in Germany already? Basically, your answer leads to the next question. Your course of study will determine the type of question you will be asked on the Written test. Make sure you have a photocopy of all the document you already uploaded. As you approach the Consulate area, some guys around will try to convince you to do extra copies of documents you already have or will try to convince you to pay a token to keep your phone for you. Just ignore them. Switch it off when you get to the gate, and as soon as you are admitted in, they will put your phone and other valuables in a locker. Before you are allowed in, the security will check your printed appointment confirmation and stamp the time of arrival, so make sure to arrive 30 minutes or more before your appointment time. Just follow every instruction from the security and you will be fine. Make sure to use the phone while speaking so the interviewer doesn't keep repeating Himself/Herself. I didn't realize that early and it made the interviewer repeat himself several times. I pray to receive a positive response from the Consulate. Lastly, the interviewer won't ask you for any document you didn't upload. Wish you all the Best. Smokyasl: Trust you’re good man, please can you brief us on how your interview went and the required documents you had to carry along ?

Since you've booked appointment, you have no business with that anymore.
Just keep your appointment confirmation and focus on the forthcoming interview.

Thank you very much Helenaaa: Yes, I did mine through DR-WALTER via Expatrio (instead of buying directly from DR-WALTER). It was more straightforward, I didn’t have to choose between many options, and you won’t need to pay anything until you activate the policy after you arrive in Germany. - Just create an Expatrio account and choose the Health Insurance option that includes DR-WALTER (travel/visa insurance). - Enter your details and set your planned arrival date. - Expatrio generates the insurance confirmation PDF immediately you can use it for your application and at your interview. @ Helenaaa My appointment date is 6th October. From the information provided by the Consulate. it takes approximately 3 weeks to process the Visa. when is the best arrival date to pick in EXPATRIO assuming I want to travel 2 weeks after I get my Visa? From your experience

@ Hannania has really been helpful here. Lets see we can reach out him. @ cyberbro Please Can you also help here? You seem to be knowledgeable too about the Opportunity card. We need all the help we can get. victorygiven: OMG, does anyone have his phone number or E-Mail so we can reach out to him? He has been such a supportive and valuable member of this group from the very beginning — always ready to help and share his knowledge. It would be a real loss not to have him around. I truly hope he comes back; misunderstandings happen sometimes, and we should all be able to move past them. Let’s remind him how much we appreciate everything he has done for us and encourage him to return. |

@ Helenaaa I love your "Never say Die" spirit I guess we won't be notified via email. It seems one has to keep checking at regular interval for available appointment date. I also have a question. Have you done your insurance?, and which one did you do? I tried Dr. Walter but I need some guidance on how to go about it while trying to get my appointment date. Helenaaa: Yes, I’m actually the person being referred to here. To be honest, I knew my account being blocked was connected to my choice to follow @Hannania’s advice at the time, but I accepted it and moved on. What else could I do? It had already happened.
Looking back, I don’t blame anyone. I should have trusted my own intuition and handled it differently. I also don’t want people to dismiss the person who shared that advice; he’s genuinely trying to help, share knowledge, and carry everyone along.
What I’ve learned (and said before in this forum) is: always do your own research. Follow the threads and listen to others who may know more, but, at the end of the day, cross-check and confirm things for yourself, especially when you feel confused or stuck.
In my case, I've lost time. My application was blocked and I had to start over.
Fortunately, things later worked out and my new application process was somewhat fast-tracked because of what happened through so much back and forth. I’m back in and now in the process of picking an appointment date for my interview/submission.
The moral is that this could have been avoided. Had there been clearer guidance, even a simple 'I don't know' instead of 'The Embassy responds in real time' I probably would have submitted on time and might even have had my visa by now, like @Haliimmaa, who submitted around the same period.
So please learn from me: don’t rely solely on anyone’s advice, no matter how helpful they seem. Double-check, do your own due diligence, and don’t get carried away. If you lose your application, you’ll be starting over again and with the pool getting bigger by the day, delays will only get longer.
Wishing everyone the best, let’s all put in our best effort and stay on top of our own applications. |

@Hannania Good morning,
I have two contacts in Germany, one is my reference. He is my very good friend, and he lives in Berlin and the other is my sponsor, he and lives in Nürnberg. Whose address is better to use for my "Intended place of stay in the Federal Republic of Germany"?
My second question is this: when uploading my university degree, should I put the transcript first before the Bsc. Certificate in the combined document?
I have 1-2 weeks to for the portal to be opened to submit. I just want to know beforehand so there are no delays at the time of submission.
Thank you |

Thank you for the clarity you always provide. Hannania: SL is valid for 6 months from date of issuance to the day you'll use it at the embassy. When your visa is approved, the validity in Germany starts counting from the day your visa is stamped as indicated on your passport |

I have my SL already but this is my 4th week of 2-8week waiting to submit. here is my question: My sponsor applied for my SL in June 2025. I guess it supposed to expire in one year. will it affect anything since we are to select a one year duration of stay in the travel data form, and the SL is already counting. |
