morikee: On Starlink i have never gotten lower than 200 except few days back that i got 100+ I don't doubt it.I used SL for more than 2 years at a less congested area also. But I don't think you can get that in Lagos, or other saturated areas. Or are you in one? |

georgee: You get 100Mbps all day.. All night.. Peak period? Yes. All the speed tests I've done are between 99-100Mbps at every time of the day. Maybe this will change as more people joins. But maybe not, since it's fiber |

QuoteJust1nce: Yeah boss, na just to show say everything wey get pro get con. MTN is my default internet (used to be Starlink) because na fire for my location. quite expensive ooo but more coverage as i can either used it fixed (or wireless) at home or on the move wireless within my vicinity via 5G. But starlink dey try just be say i don tire for am cos of saturation leading to abysmal speeds in urban cities Same shoes. I ran Starlink side by side with MTN Fibre for 3 months in Lagos and I decided to ultimately stay with MTN Fibre. The 45k 100Mbps plan is cheaper, more stable and faster (Starlink is only faster between 1am - 8am). But Starlink would still be my choice for less saturated / more rural locations |

floflo12: It's really crazy. The customer support is very useless. Is yours working well now ? Yes, so far. The feeling I got from the issue I had was that the customer support can do little other than escalating the issue. After that you're at the mercy of the people with the technical knowledge to debug the issue. I hope yours has been fixed |

floflo12: Has anyone encountered this type of issue with mtn fibre x? Abeg o wetin I fit do like this. If you read some messages back, you'll see myself and someone else complaining of a similar issue. Mine is the exact same as yours. But I just checked now, and it's working now for me. It started on Friday. I called 217 Friday, Saturday and Today. I also reached out on Whatsapp more than once. |

It's been over 24 hours of downtime now with the Fibre installation that isn't even up to a week. Everything is green on the router but there's no Internet. I've reached out to them via call and Whatsapp but no resolution. And coupled with the existing Ethernet port issue that remains unresolved
Looks like it won't be time to retire Starlink anytime soon |

honourdan: Nice one, then maybe the installation time is location dependent. Have you been able to figure out your Ethernet port issue on your router? nani667: The Ethernet cable came with the package.. that was about the only thing that came with the package.
I connected the Ethernet cable to my TV. There are no issues, it has always been working fine.
If your wired connection has issues it may be an issue with the cable, have you tried with a different Ethernet cable...? Thanks. I did try with multiple cables and devices but none worked. From troubleshooting and reading online, it seems it might be because the ports are not bound to the WAN. But the settings to change this is missing from my router admin page. I've reached out to MTN via several channels repeatedly and they've taken my details but they haven't gotten back to me. |

honourdan: Your installation was done fast, mine that I paid for since last week Wednesday has still not been installed. Pertaining your Ethernet cable issue it might be a setting within your router that is causing it. I was surprised when they called me the next day. Even MTN was surprised because they called me a day after it was installed to ask me to say the installation time might exceed their usual timeline of 7 days and to allow for up to 14 days. I had to tell them it had been installed already |
Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by orimion(m): 5:50pm On Jan 20 |
nani667: The installation is free.. you just pay for subscription, and an agent contacts you for installation.
The router is connected to the cable. The connection runs from a pole outside the house straight to the router. Hi, I see from the picture attached to this post that there is an Ethernet cable attached to the router. Do you use it with any device? Does it work? And if it does, did you have to do anything other than inserting it? I have the same router but wired connection doesn't work as I explained above |
Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by orimion(m): 5:13pm On Jan 19 |
I've just got this installed in Lagos. Ketu/Alapere area. Although the street is not listed on the MTN application, they installed the pole about a month ago. I saw a sticker on the pole with an agent's phone number and I reached out yesterday. She registered it for me and it was installed today.
So far so good. I'm connected via wifi but the latency is a kind of poor for fiber at about 120ms. Even worse than Starlink which I currently use. The download speed hovers around the 50 Mbps I paid for.
One issue I'm still facing is that none of the ethernet ports work. The indicator light on the router blinks but there is no internet. I've tried the cable that came with it and other with different devices. The router is a Huawei router |

dustmalik: If it's possible, could you post pics of how the mount goes into the base of the Starlink Gen 3? @ijeezlux @johnnyholtby I also need this. Please, can you share more details about the mount? Images and what I'll need to tell the welder will help I want to raise the Starlink installation I have above a water tank beside it which is obstructing it to the west. It does work currently, but it's less stable that the experience I had before and the mobile application reports higher number of outages.

orimion: People of God. My current Starlink location is the Redemption camp, around Mowe. However I'm moving to Lagos soon, say around Ketu. Is there a possibility of continuing to use it without needing to change address? If not, will I be able to change the address seamlessly? Will I need to pay an activation fee? Unfaized: Move first and test in your new location. In most cases you won't have to change anything. orimion: Alright. Thanks. I'll give an update once I do Update: I eventually moved. And everything seems to be working fine so far. I didn't need to do / change anything. |

Kobonaire4: It is kind of the fault of our education system and the way the economy is set up
Educated people leave the villages and head out into the cities to look for work and other opportunitues. This leaves those who cannot leave because they are not educated enough.
The main parties build their structures and their support on the people left behind. And since these are the people that the villagers see...not the educated man in the city that may come home once in a year or sometimes in years....they win elections for their main parties.
I don't like it when people call them illiterates for voting APC and PDP.(I reiterate that that is a mistake...something that the Democrats learned the hard way in 2015, and even still make, and something seen to some extent in the UK). APC and PDP are sadly the only parties that at least give a damm. LP? Lord knows I used to live in the North. LP is not to be seen anywhere in the rural areas. If LP at least did some mobilization and came with some ideas that suit the rural areas, or even some of the educated people came home and ran for councillor, and suchlike, or even engaged in local activisim so that people could eventually see that APC and PDP are fake parties who just want power...maybe things might change. But it is hard work, and most of us educated people ain't got time.
LP is also not above using tribe and religion to to woo voters...plus a lot of the educated vote for all three parties on tribal and religious grounds.
At the end, politics in Nigeria is not about issues. I don't consider Atiku, Tinubu or Obi have anything new for Nigerians. At the end, they would just do what has been done year in, year out;;;;over subsidise, take loans to cover the deficit, find jobs for the boys and girls, and the rest of us will complain and grumble as we always do about 'corruption' and look for the next 'hero'. You've made the most sense between the supporters of all parties. You made so much sense that I had to go through your post history and it's sense all through. Thank you and well done. |
