Why cant the failed PDP leave Edo State alone? We have rejected you, so leave or switch over if you have something good to contribute.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has sought a role for Qatar-based Nigerian, who hails from Edo State, Mr Michael Jonathan Asemota, in Nigeria’s quest for role models for Nigerian youths.

Dabiri-Erewa said that Mr Asemota, a businessman with the business name, Fidelity Contractor and General Services, based in Qatar, returned N150 million wrongfully posted into his account to the bank.

In a letter to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa said: “I write to bring to your attention, an uplifting report from one of your indigenes in Edo State but based in Qatar, Doha, Mr Michael Jonathan Asemota a.k.a. Teddy, for his sincerity and honesty by returning QR 1,502,000 equivalent of ($441,127.99 USD) and over N150 million, wrongfully posted into his account in Qatar.

“This singular act has given Nigeria and Nigerians a positive image in Qatar and indeed all over the world. Consequently, I am of the view that this success story of one of ours, Mr Michael Jonathan Asemota, could be used to positively impact the lives of many youths across the country,” she said.

The Presidential Aide explained in her letter that Asemota had opened an account with a cheque of QR150,200 with a Qatari commercial bank, where he is the sole signatory of the account.

Dabiri-Erewa told Governor Obaseki that Asemota received an alert from his bank showing that a QR1,502,000 had been credited into his account by mistake, instead of QR150,200. He went to see the manager to report the error of QR1,502,000 deposited into his account and after checking for confirmation, the manager of the bank gave Asemota a warm handshake in appreciation.

Asemota is an official of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation-Qatar (NIDO-Qatar) the umbrella body of Nigerians resident in the country.

The Edo State Government said it has uncovered a plot by some members of the opposition political party to disrupt the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

The government said reports and several checks with the relevant security agencies in the state confirmed that “the plot has been perfected to cause unprecedented mayhem and a general sense of insecurity in Edo State to disrupt the forthcoming local council polls.”

The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media and Communications Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said the plan also includes the hiring of militants from neighboring Niger Delta states to instill fear in the electorates and stop them from exercising their franchise during the elections.

Osagie said “the recurring name in this irresponsible plot is the faint-hearted and dying Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after failing abysmally to dissuade anyone at a press conference it organized recently in Benin City, where it threatened to go to court and restrain the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) from conducting the election.”

He explained that the PDP is scared of the failure that awaits the party at the polling booths and is inventing devilish means to disrupt the process.

He however assured that “the respective security agencies have been fully briefed and are on alert to intercept the would-be assailants and aggressors from carrying out their evil plans. The Edo State Government will not be intimidated by the shenanigans of the PDP and will ensure it carries out its constitutional role of ensuring the security of life and property and that the citizens perform their civic duties.”

The governor’s aide said the state government will deploy a mix of overt and covert strategies to secure all parts of the state before, during and after the exercise.

He urged all political parties in the state to behave as good sportsmen and put forward their best feet for the political contest.

“Free and fair elections are strange to the PDP. For them, it is either their fraudulent way of writing results in their bedrooms or no way. They know that never again will Edo people make the mistake of filing behind any PDP candidate in the state, that is why the dying party is plotting to scuttle the forthcoming council polls and they will surely fail,” Osagie said.

He called on Edo people to be calm and go about their lawful businesses, and assured that the Obaseki-led government is on top of the situation and will quell any sinister plots of the PDP and its cohorts before they are hatched.

Edo is actually on a steady rise. Thanks to the tenacity of Governor Obaseki.

I am sure you really don't know an inch of what you are talking about. I doubt if you are in Edo, for if you are, you will know that Obaseki deserves every award. He can to emancipate us from poverty, and that has already started yielding fruits with regards to job creation following the massive industrialization and agricultural revolution presently being witnessed in all parts of Edo State.

Come to Edo and see...

I admire Governor Obaseki's focused dedication to his promise to serve, despite the presence of some few remaining detractors that do strive to get him distracted. It is real service that we are witnessing everyday in Edo, and to God be the glory for sending us Obaseki.

Any addition to Governor Obaseki's wealth of experience is a welcome development.

It is even in the holy book; you cannot serve two masters at the same time.

I see no selfishness in joining hands to take our dear state to the best attainable level. With the way the governor is going, I can bet with you that more will join.

This shows that the current administration is indeed performing, even to the admiration of the opposition PDP. I admire Governor Obaseki.
