Oxgital, one of the best digital marketing and advertising agencies in Lagos, Nigeria, has officially expanded into the Billboard and Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising space through a strategic partnership, granting them exclusive access to 156 large-format billboard placements across key commercial districts in the country. With a client base spanning fintech, legal, real estate, product, and service-based businesses, the expansion signals Oxgital’s evolution from a digital-first agency to a fully integrated, 360° marketing powerhouse that combines online campaigns with offline brand visibility. “This partnership gives us the infrastructure to take our clients beyond the digital realm,” said Folorunso Joshua, Cofounder of Oxgital. The agency emphasizes that this isn’t just a media placement offering – it’s a strategic extension of its creative and data-driven approach to marketing. Oxgital will integrate billboard advertising with digital retargeting, storytelling, and contextual audience targeting to maximize campaign impact. “Out-of-home remains one of the most powerful ways to engage audiences in high-impact, real-world moments. It’s not just about visibility, it’s about dominance in the spaces where attention, decisions, and influence converge,” Osungbade Akeem Wizeman, CEO of Oxgital, added. With this move, Oxgital joins a select group of marketing agencies in Nigeria offering full-spectrum 360° marketing services. The company also confirmed that the billboard spaces are open to existing and new clients, with campaign packages tailored to brand goals and location preferences. Expansion to other metropolitan cities across Nigeria is planned for Q3 2025. Oxgital’s entry into the OOH and Billboard Advertising space reflects a broader trend of hybrid marketing models that bridge traditional and digital media to improve message retention, trust, and multi-touchpoint conversion.

Temu, the budget-friendly e-commerce platform has taken Nigeria by storm after it unleashed an audacious ads blitz on Nigerians. You are arguably not in Nigeria if you haven’t seen a Temu ad or a complaint about Temu ads. From Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, these ads are everywhere, on feeds and search pages, and after every story. They have sparked a mix of annoyance and curiosity, dominating conversations in the Nigerian internet space. This campaign is more than just an audacious marketing push; it’s a fascinating case study of how ads can dominate conversations through strategy, accident, or a mix of both. For this blog post, I conversed with some of my friends, and we dissected the Temu ad buzz. This blog post features the gist of our discussion, alongside some insights that could give you another perspective on how digital campaigns work, with a focus on the Temu ads rage in the last week. “Even My Mama Dey See the Ads” Speaking with Ose, he mentioned his mom comparing Temu to Jumia. Ose’s mom noticing the ads and likening Temu to Jumia, Nigeria’s popular e-commerce platform is a huge win for Temu: they’ve reached the older demographic. Their campaign cut across different age demographics — something most digital marketers struggle to achieve. But here’s the twist — most people in Nigeria can’t even use the app yet because Temu doesn’t ship directly to the country. This raises the question: Why spend so much money advertising in a market they’re not fully operational in? The answer might lie in Temu’s long-term play for brand awareness, but it comes with a risk: building curiosity could just as easily turn into frustration. A Campaign of Psychology, Numbers, or Both? Running ads in Nigeria is cost-effective. According to a report by Oxgital, ₦1,000 ($0.57) can show meta ads to 1,000 people — a steal for a company like Temu, backed by PDD Holdings, a $128.79 billion multinational powerhouse. But Temu’s strategy likely goes beyond standard digital ads. They may have orchestrated what I call a “sponsored campaign of complaints.” My friend Azeez backed this up when he mentioned, “I’ve seen more complaints about the ads than the ads themselves.” This suggests a psychological strategy: if people complain loudly enough, it amplifies the ads’ reach, making them seem more omnipresent than they are. Complaints, whether organic or orchestrated, could be Temu’s secret weapon. This could be the heart of Temu’s genius — or madness. The complaints seem to be amplifying the ad effect. Think about it. You might see an ad five times, but if you encounter 50 tweets, funny blurred screenshotted memes, or TikTok videos complaining about it, it feels like you’ve seen it 50 times. This phenomenon is rooted in how we process information. When we see complaints about something repeatedly, our brains exaggerate the actual frequency of exposure, making the ads feel omnipresent — even if they aren’t. This phenomenon, where the buzz outpaces the campaign looks like a marketing gold. “Small Scroll, Na Their Ad” My friend Josh highlighted a fascinating observation: platform disparity. “On TikTok and Snapchat, it feels like Temu ads appear every three to four scrolls,” he said. “Instagram is less saturated, while Twitter has been the space more for complaints than the actual ads.” This disparity suggests a deliberate strategy. TikTok’s and Snapchat’s younger, trend-driven audience is hit hard with ads, while Instagram keeps things subtler, maintaining its aesthetic vibe. Meanwhile, the noise on Twitter ensures that even those who haven’t seen the ads directly are still aware of them. While platform disparity reveals a deliberate targeting strategy, the real genius — or gamble — might lie in the buzz generated by the complaints. The Complaints Strategy: By Strategy or By Accident? Here’s where it gets fascinating: the complaints might be part of the strategy. Temu could be leveraging frustration or complaints as a covert marketing tactic. The more people complain about how annoying the ads are, the more Temu stays on top of people’s minds. Think about it: Blast Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram with ads to ensure visibility. Seed influencer-led “complaints” on Twitter to spark conversations. Watch as the complaints create curiosity and drive conversations. This strategy, if deliberate, is a ‘burna-move’ — a campaign that fuels itself by successfully creating buzz through annoyance is a masterclass. Complaints create a feedback loop, ensuring Temu’s ads achieve visibility far beyond their original scope. It’s risky, but in this case, the reward seems undeniable. The Bigger Picture: Lessons for Marketers What can marketers learn from the Temu situation? Whether it’s a strategy or an accident, every event is an avenue to learn, and this isn’t an exception. Here are some takeaways: Cheap Reach, Big Impact: With a modest investment, at least compared to what would have been spent to achieve such in first-world countries, Temu has achieved unprecedented reach in Nigeria. Nigeria’s low CPM rates make it a goldmine for brands aiming for mass visibility. Temu has shown that a modest budget can create outsized awareness — the secret lies in amplifying visibility through user discussions — whether organic or orchestrated. Complaints Can Be Content: In the words of a popular Nigerian Musician, every disappointment is a blessing. Instead of fearing backlash, Temu leaned into it — whether by strategy or accident. By letting complaints fuel curiosity, they turned negativity into a marketing engine. When Temu finally seamlessly delivers to Nigeria, so far their product delivers on its promise, this initial annoyance might convert to intrigue — and eventually, loyalty. Align Campaigns with Readiness: Running a major ad campaign in a market you’re not fully operational in is risky. For Temu, this may be a way to build brand awareness, but it also risks frustrating potential customers as it’s happening right now. If they want to convert this buzz into revenue, Temu must act quickly to provide shipping solutions for Nigerian customers or it risks alienating them. A Double-Edged Sword Temu’s Nigerian campaign is bold, disruptive, and undeniably effective at grabbing attention. But it also risks leaving a bad taste in people’s mouths. Nigerians are talking about Temu, but this attention could turn sour without the ability to use the platform seamlessly. If Temu’s goal was to test the waters and gauge interest, they’ve succeeded. But for this campaign to translate into lasting success, they must act fast, they’ll need to establish a delivery system that can effectively serve the Nigerian market that they’ve just captured. Without this, all that attention could be wasted. The Final Word Temu has done what brands struggle to do: dominate online conversations in a hyper-competitive market, we’re all talking about them — and that’s the point. Temu’s Nigerian ad campaign could also be an interesting case study in digital marketing — it will open new conversations around audacity in marketing and the potential of using complaints as a strategy. Whether you love or hate the Temu ads, one thing’s clear: Temu has made itself impossible to ignore. This campaign reminds us that in marketing; perception is everything. Whether they succeed or fade away, one thing’s clear: bold strategies like these force us to think beyond limits. Temu’s next move will determine whether they can cement their place in Nigeria or fade as another viral phenomenon. For now, they’ve got our attention. What they do next is up to them. Have you seen Temu’s ads — or the complaints about them? Share your thoughts in the comments! Osungbade Akeem Wizeman

Lagos, Nigeria - September 2024 — Oxgital, a fast-growing digital marketing, website and brand development agency, is excited to announce a major rebranding and strategic shift from a remote work model to an onsite work culture. Alongside this transition, Oxgital has welcomed two dynamic co-founders and secured a new headquarters in the prestigious Lofty Heights Officer Towers, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. Founded by Osungbade Akeem Wizeman in December 2022, Oxgital rapidly established itself as one of Nigeria’s leading digital agencies, delivering outstanding results for clients across diverse industries. Since its inception, Oxgital has stood out for its commitment to innovative digital marketing solutions and professional brand development services, all while operating remotely. However, as the business landscape evolves, so does Oxgital. Companies around the world have been shifting their work models, adapting to changes in technology and operational needs. Major players like GitLab and Shopify have embraced fully remote cultures, whereas others like IBM and Amazon have opted for hybrid and onsite structures to drive greater efficiency and teamwork. Now, Oxgital is following suit with its own strategic transition to an onsite model. This shift is designed to better serve its growing client base, improve operational efficiency, and foster a collaborative work environment. To support this new chapter, Wizeman has brought in two talented individuals as co-founders: Folorunso Joshua and Animashaun Ridwan. Their combined expertise and fresh perspectives promise to elevate Oxgital’s capabilities. "This transition isn't just about moving from remote to onsite," says Wizeman. "It's about positioning Oxgital for growth — not only for the company but for the talented team behind it. With our new structure, we’re set to deliver our services more effectively and efficiently, which will ultimately reflect in the value we bring to our clients." Joshua and Ridwan bring a wealth of experience to the table, with over four years in the digital space. Joshua made a name for himself as one of Thinkific’s top course creators in 2022, earning recognition for his ability to design high-quality, engaging online courses. Ridwan, meanwhile, has built a stellar reputation as a professional website designer, working with clients locally and internationally to deliver cutting-edge web solutions over the last four years. Ridwan Animashaun shared his excitement about the transition: “This change represents more than just a shift in the work environment for us. It’s an opportunity to improve the quality of collaboration within our team, which ultimately impacts the results we deliver to our clients. I’ve worked with many clients remotely, but being in a shared space will unlock new levels of creativity and productivity that remote setups sometimes miss." Joshua, echoed similar sentiments: "At Oxgital, we’ve always focused on delivering results, whether remote or onsite. But transitioning to a physical office gives us the edge to be more agile in responding to clients’ needs. For me, working side by side with our team will spark new ideas and allow us to better serve our community and clients.” This strategic move underscores Oxgital’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve and continually innovating its services. By establishing an office in the heart of Lekki Phase 1, the company aims to build stronger relationships with clients and partners, while fostering a more collaborative internal culture that drives productivity and creativity. Wizeman, an experienced digital marketer with seven years in the field, is also the current Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Cudium, a cross-border fintech startup that has processed over $100 million in transactions for Nigerian businesses. His vast expertise in digital strategy, marketing, and leadership has been pivotal in shaping Oxgital's growth journey. "We’re excited about this new phase for Oxgital," Wizeman continues. "With the new office, new leadership, and a stronger onsite culture, we’re ready to take on bigger challenges and deliver even more impactful results for our clients." This rebranding marks a significant milestone for Oxgital as it prepares to scale its operations and expand its service offerings. The company’s new headquarters will serve as a hub for creativity, collaboration, and growth as they look to lead the digital marketing and space in Nigeria and beyond.

Tell us about yourself. I'm Osungbade Akeem (Wizeman), a 24-year-old fresh graduate of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. I fully began my journey in Tech about seven years ago in 2016 as a Website Designer. Curiosity drove my interest in tech back then when it wasn't a popular venture. I was fascinated by websites, mobile games, the internet space, and I have always wanted to understand how they worked. At the age of 16, I attended Femtech IT in Kwara State, where I earned a diploma in Desktop Publishing. I furthered by self-learning website design and development, which I did until 2018 when I pivoted into Marketing. I ran my first digital Agency from 2018 till 2022, and in September 2022, I worked with some of my friends to build Cudium, a cross-border payment solution platform where I’m serving as the founding C.M.O till date. I'm a versatile person, and my passion for trying new things has kept me here. Aside from Tech, I have an interest in politics, advocacy, and I'm a social butterfly. I enjoy being 'outside' with my friends and loved ones. Why did you choose to start this company? After learning website development in 2016, I freelanced fully until 2018 when I pivoted to digital marketing. Combining my website design knowledge and newfound love in marketing made me understand the dynamics of the Nigerian internet space. I also identified some problems businesses and organizations face in getting the online presence they require. I started Oxgital out of the desire to have a people-focused agency that understands the market needs and solves the complex problems businesses and organizations face when trying to get their desired online presence. This includes everything from branding, website, social media, to their overall online presence. I ran a similar remote agency from 2018 till 2022, with the major difference being that it served international clients. I worked with more than 100 businesses in the United States and some parts of Europe. I felt it was time to enter the Nigerian market and create ‘magic’ for my people, hence the birth of Oxgital. What are your goals for the company in the next 5 years? To be unarguably the No. 1 digital agency in Nigeria, offering businesses and organizations unmatched website design, branding, digital marketing, SEO, and Digital PR services. What is your leadership style? I believe in a situational leadership style. I usually adjust my style based on the specific situation and the capabilities of my team members. I understand the place of individual strengths and weaknesses. My approaches to issues are flexible and usually adapt to suit the needs of the moment. What are your thoughts on the company's culture? The remote culture is quite new in the Nigerian space; however, this is what we adopted at Oxgital, and I'm very comfortable with it. Remote work culture gives flexibility and a more convenient work system while giving us access to the smartest brains out there, as employee location isn't a barrier to having them on our team. Why do you think social media is important for businesses? Businesses need people to grow, and the people are on social media, so you have to meet them where they are. Social media provides opportunities for increased visibility, brand awareness, and direct communication with prospects or customers. Businesses can leverage social media platforms to effectively advertise their products or services at the most affordable rates ever, in my opinion. Social media can also be used as a market research tool; it can serve as a valuable source of getting market insights as businesses can monitor conversations and trends to understand customer preferences and needs. What are the biggest challenges the company faces in using social media? As a company that helps businesses and organizations with their social media, you sometimes get overwhelmed by the clients' work that you pay less attention to your own. Why are you passionate about marketing? Marketing allows me to connect with people, understand their needs, and create solutions that can genuinely make a difference. It's a constantly changing rhythm that follows the beat of people's behavior, responses, and the latest tech trends, and I find the challenge of staying ahead of trends incredibly exciting. What would be the advice you would give to someone who is new to social media marketing? Starting out in social media marketing can be complicated in the beginning. The question of how do you understand Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, Snapchat, etc., knowing fully well they operate with different dynamics is the most tasking aspect for beginners. My advice would be to start by understanding the unique dynamics of each social media platform. Ensure you understand the audience, the tone, and the type of content that works best for each platform. Being authentic has never gone wrong; people love genuineness and rawness, so let your brand's personality shine through and interact with your audience without trying to be what you aren't. What do you think are the most important qualities for someone in your role? Patience, resilience, integrity, visionary leadership, and strategic thinking. Tell us something we don't know about Wizeman. I don't like movies, and I haven't seen up to 10 in my lifetime.
