PRESS STATEMENT
HON. TOPE AGBULU CONDEMNS HORRIFIC MURDER OF TWO AAUA STUDENTS, CALLS FOR JUSTICE AND TIGHTER SECURITY IN AKUNGBA

The Media Office of Hon. Tope Agbulu, Member representing Akoko South West Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, expresses deep sorrow and grave concern over the heartbreaking revelation made by the Ondo State Police Command regarding the fate of two missing students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

The victims, Abah John Friday (25) and Okah Andrel Eloho (19), were declared missing on June 20, 2025. Following swift action by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supported by forensic tracking, suspects were apprehended. The suspects confessed to abducting, sexually assaulting, and murdering the students — allegedly on the instructions of Mr. Oladele Femi, the landlord of one of the victims.

This gruesome and inhumane act is a deep betrayal of community trust and a tragic dent on the image of a peaceful and student-friendly town like Akungba. It is shocking that someone entrusted with housing and sheltering our students could allegedly mastermind such an atrocious crime.

Hon. Tope Agbulu strongly condemns this disgraceful act and emphasizes that Akungba has always been a land of peace, tolerance, and love, especially for students who form a vital part of the community. He calls on the police to ensure that justice is served swiftly and thoroughly to bring closure to the grieving families and to serve as a deterrent to others who may harbor similar evil intentions.

The Honourable Member assures the families of the deceased, the entire student body of AAUA, and the residents of Akungba that:
- He will work closely with the Ondo State Police Command and relevant security agencies to implement improved security strategies within Akungba and its environs.

- Necessary legislative action and community engagement initiatives will be undertaken to ensure the safety of students and residents.

-Collaboration with the university management and local stakeholders will be strengthened to identify and root out criminal elements operating within the town.

Hon. Agbulu extends his deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of Abah John Friday and Okah Andrel Eloho, praying for strength in this time of immeasurable loss.

This tragic incident must mark a turning point in how we collectively approach security and youth protection in Akoko land. Evil must not be allowed to thrive under our watch.

Crime › Barr. Tolu Babaleye Condemned The Gruesome Murder Of Two AAUA Students by Oscent01(op): 9:15am On Jul 17, 2025
PUBLIC STATEMENT BY BARR. TOLU BABALEYE ON THE TRAGIC ABDUCTION AND MURDER OF TWO AAUA STUDENTS

It is with a heavy heart that I, Barr. Tolu Babaleye, an APC Chieftain and concerned indigene of Akungba-Akoko, react to the deeply disturbing revelation by the Ondo State Police Command regarding the heartbreaking fate of two promising students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Abah John Friday (25) and Okah Andrel Eloho (19), who were declared missing on June 20, 2025.

According to the police, through the diligent work of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the use of forensic tracking, it was discovered that the students were abducted, sexually assaulted, and eventually murdered. Even more distressing is the revelation that this heinous crime was allegedly masterminded by Mr. Oladele Femi, the landlord of one of the victims, Abah John Friday.

This act is not only a betrayal of trust but a dark stain on the peace-loving and hospitable reputation of our dear community. Akungba has always been a land of peace, love, and intellectual pursuit, especially for the students who come from all over the country to study and thrive in our town.

I strongly condemn, in the most unequivocal terms, this disgraceful and evil act. There can be no justification for such wickedness. I commend the Ondo State Police Command for their swift and professional handling of the investigation so far and urge them to ensure that justice is served without fear or favor.
The perpetrators of this monstrous crime must face the full wrath of the law. Justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done, to serve as a deterrent to others who may be nursing similar evil intentions.

In this moment of collective grief, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased students. May God grant them the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.

I also want to assure the students of AAUA, their parents, and the entire Akungba community that I will work hand in hand with the police division and all relevant authorities to strengthen security measures in and around Akungba. We will not fold our arms and allow evil elements to destroy the sanctity and safety of our community.

Together, we must rise to protect our students and our town from the infiltration of wicked and inhumane elements. Akungba must remain a sanctuary for learning, not a hotspot for terror.

May the souls of Abah John Friday and Okah Andrel Eloho rest in perfect peace.

Business › An Open Letter Of Appeal To Akungba Youth President by Oscent01(op): 11:24am On Apr 04, 2025
The President,
Akungba Youth Forum,
Akungba Akoko,
Ondo State, Nigeria.

Dear sir,

RE: UNBEARABLE INCREASE IN MOTORCYCLE FARES IN AKUNGBA-AKOKO

I write to bring to your attention a pressing concern affecting the youth and general residents of our community, the sudden and unbearable increase in motorcycle fares within Akungba.

For many of us, especially students, traders, and low-income earners, motorcycles are the primary and sometimes only means of transportation.

However, the recent hike in fares has made daily movement a major challenge. People now have to spend almost double the usual fare, and this is taking a toll on our already strained finances.

As the youth leader of our community, I believe your voice and position can help bring relief to the people. I respectfully suggest the following steps:

1. Engage the motorcycle rider’s union to understand the reasons behind the fare hike and to negotiate a more reasonable and affordable rate.

2. Organize a stakeholder’s meeting or town hall forum involving youth representatives, student leaders, transport union officials, and community elders to deliberate on the issue.

3. Work with local authorities to consider a possible regulation or monitoring framework to prevent arbitrary fare increases in the future.

4. Encourage the introduction of alternative transport options, such as shuttle buses, to reduce pressure on motorcycle transport.

This issue affects us all, and I trust in your leadership to help champion a lasting solution that will ease the burden on the people of Akungba.

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to seeing positive steps taken on this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Education › Akure High Court Nullifies Creation Of 33 Lcdas By Former Governor Akeredolu by Oscent01(op): 1:21pm On Jun 20, 2024
Akure, Ondo State – June 20, 2024 - The Akure High Court has rendered a landmark judgment nullifying the creation of 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) by former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. The judgment, delivered by Justice Adebusola, underscores significant constitutional breaches in the creation of the LCDAs.

Justice Adebusola ruled that the Local Government Creation Law 2023, signed by Governor Akeredolu in Ibadan, outside Ondo State, is unconstitutional. The judgment highlighted that it is illegal for a Governor to sign a law outside the jurisdiction of their own state, rendering the law and the creation of the LCDAs null and void.

The court's decision reinstates the original 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ondo State. It was noted that the process of creating the 33 LCDAs did not adhere to the steps stipulated by Section 8 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria. Specifically, there was no referendum conducted to confirm the creation, which is a fundamental requirement for such an administrative change.

Justice Adebusola stated, “The creation of the 33 LCDAs is unconstitutional, illegal, null, void, and of no effect whatsoever. The actions taken by the former Governor in this regard are beyond the legal bounds set by our Constitution.”

Speaking after the judgment in Akure, Barr. Tolu Babaleye stated that “the ruling serves as a crucial reminder of the constitutional boundaries within which state governance must operate and reaffirms the legal processes necessary for administrative alterations.”
