AyarmBoye: Good afternoon guys….so I’m new to this solar stuff and even though I have read many of the pages o still couldn’t find what I want..hopefully someone will help me.
A friend sold me his old 1.2kva luminous eco volt inverter because he’s upgrading…his batteries are dead so I only got the inverter..
I dont like this tubular batteries and one installer said I can’t use lithium battery with this 1.2kva inverter that I will have to get another inverter….
So what do you think?
Can’t I truly use this inverter with lithium battery? I plan to charge more with solar panels though and perhaps once in a while use the grid since the inverter can charge battery….true at the back of the inverter,,no selection for lithium battery….
Please don’t ignore me …I don’t have money for another inverter o. snap and send the specs on the inverter, we need to see the charging parameters. Since you plan using solar majorly, right? if yes, then get a good charge controller, CC. Note a good CC is almost equal to a new inverter |

CuteMaro: I don't think it's just about cost. There are DIY enthusiasts too, I see nothing wrong with it.
I can say we have a kind of lazy culture in Nigeria. In most advanced countries like the US for instance, some basic mechanic, plumbing, electrical and carpentry jobs are done DIY. A man is supposed to be handy so there is nothing wrong in showing interest or suggesting someone try DIY.
It's fun as long as you know your limits and don't mess with high voltage DIY enthusiasts go the extra mile to understand what they’re getting into, even to the point of learning the rudiments. Lazy ones, however, only think about cost—they don’t bother to read or consider safety at all. Once you become a true DIY enthusiast, you’ll definitely know your limits. Note; na high voltage DC regime we dey now, and my people are lazy around it, hmm, I pray we don't learn the hard way with HV. |

Trippledots: For PV over voltage?? 😳 We really need to open a thread about CS operations or normal medical procedures on human beings, because the rates doctors are charging for these services are just too high! #DIYoperation But let’s be careful—some people might even advise you to risk your property or family because of #DIY. When it comes to electrical or solar issues, you need professionals. How much do you really want to save if the cost could be your life or the safety of your loved ones? If you don’t have basic training in these areas, please seek a professional to handle the job. Honestly, if you get it wrong, the outcome is far worse than the money “saved.” |

Ofejiro20: Good morning guys. I just bought 6 sets of jinko 715w panels but lately I heard the jinko 615w is more better than the jinko 715w panels. Is the true because the installers will be coming today to install them?
I'm thinking of changing all 6 jinko 715w panel to 615w. I need your opinion guys No, that is not correct. Maybe the person is looking at it from the angle of easy of carriage when it comes to installation. Download the data sheet for both panels and check their efficiencies. |

Edrizz: My people abeg who has handy information of the power consumption of a typical 1hp air conditioner (non inverter models)
Conversion of 1hp to wattage is around 749watt but some 1hp air conditioner n even 1hp pumping machine consume as high as 1kw+, the thing no con clear again Its very clear my brother. you are correct with 749 w, but once you wire the machine, be it subpump or AC or any other stuff with a wire of low gauge, it will consume more power, aka wattage, eg, you are to wire a 1HP pump with 4mm2 becos of the longer distance (say 50m) of the pump to the source of power, but you now use 2.5mm. it will definitely consume more power (due to heating up of the wire). whereas the same 2.5mm2 is adequate for the same 1HP pump with a shorter distance (say 10m). |

teejx13: I get you boss. Thanks for the concern and warnings.
I think it's important to be aware of risks in anything we are doing. That's why I came to ask instead of just taking what people have said and running to market to buy and connect. You are welcome bro, I will give you mine own quote and point you to where and from whom you may buy, foc. It's not nice to loos money, 500k is not that easy to come by in this economy, you have tried. Setup 12v 2kva inverter, I prefer hybrid, no need for external charger, Sako inverter will be ok here, contact @Dam5reey 12v 4.2kwhr Lifepo4 contact @Valto, I don't know if he has lower capacity of 12v 500-590w solar panels, two connected in series is ok. protection box, get this also from @Dam5reey PV wires and MC4s (never do a cut and twist wire connection) get from @linov he sells his wires at a good price 2m max of 25mm2 wielding cable and ring connector for battery to inverter connection. I am not and will never be a fan of grid charging, that where things go south very quickly. infact, we are entering the season(onset of rain) when inverter charging of battery via grid will set getting fried. I prefer solar charging only, if and when Sun no too come out, use gen to charge. |

Why you carry this thing for head sef? How is this your problem?
All you see is just negative not a process to knowledge. That's the point, how did I start!!! I never started like him or you, I had the fundamental knowledge of these things, from secondary school self, and I am a student of Physics with foundation in electronics. By God's grace, I will graduate from Futa this year from dept of Physics with electronics. And pls, inform the guy that he can also loss part of his 500k via DIY route, we all did. bassdow: Funny enough, You and @dollarnaira are both RIGHT. just depends on what perspective you choose to view things.
e get things wey I dey use, we I no fit do for someone else because e sure me say na recipe for wahala. BUT what @dollarnaira suggested would work even for a novice so long the person who made such suggestion is the actual knowledgeable person that would set things up to avoid said Novice going to copy BUT paste something different. Some chargers out there are cable of getting your batteries pregnant to say the least. The person involved get the knowledge wey @dollarnaira get? That's my issue here, the first Lifepo4 I used sometimes in 2017/2018, 40ah, the blue calb cells, was without a BMS or any protection, the thing never born the pikin since then. |

His set up will look like this with just an active balancer. Let me ask you a question, is that what you are using in your own home? Kindly post your setup. You are telling someone that has little or no experience to use a setup like this? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Oshomo12(m): 6:55pm On Feb 24 |

How will I go about this and the rest of the setup? kindly share with us when you achieve your solar goal with 500k that will power your loads... cells only for 360k, how much BMS will he buy with it, 30K abi, casing etc unko? no go enter express like this oo |

teejx13: Key loads: Freezer of 110W Laptop 65W Phone + Light, Fans, etc 150W
I'm okay with 4-5 hours of backup. It is not possible with 500k, don't put hope at all. 4 to 5hrs of freezer is a premium taste 1200whr of battery will give u 960whr with 80% DoD and you listed a load of 400whr divide 960/400, then you will get your backup time, all other things assumed ok nii oo!! |

KudozInteriors: This is the wattage I got from the panel this afternoon but the inverter was showing 547watts or so. (NB: I attached picture from shunt below)
And on the day this system was finally installed, I asked the installer why the wattage on that hot afternoon was only 300watts. He said that it’s because that’s what the inverter needed from the sun to both charge the batteries and give me light. He now asked me to add more load to it to see how it behaves. I added more load and it rose up to above 700watts that day. He said if I keep adding more loads, it will keep increasing and taking what it needs to both give me light and charge the batteries. I don’t know if this is true though I saw it with my eyes.
After that day, when they said that the battery has been dying fast because I was charging it at 60ahms instead of 15ahms. The distributor gave him directions on how to reset my inverter and I don’t know what he did reset on it that day. I have told you what to do very fast, you have not done it. Okay o, don't waste your time with capacity test. The guy should have slept like 10 days in police cell already. I will be frank with you, hope you are not the Alaroro type of person, cos na people like this technician (he is not an installer) dey show pepper. No vex o |
