Foreign Affairs › Re: U.S. Confirms Ukraine's First F-16 Air-to-air Victory Over Russian Su-35 by OSPRO: 7:30pm On Jul 27

I'm this world, only CHANGE is constantly constant.

BornofGod108:
U.S. Confirms Ukraine's First F-16 Air-to-Air Victory Over Russian Su-35

Ukraine has recorded its first confirmed air-to-air victory using a Western-supplied F-16 fighter jet after shooting down a Russian Su-35 fighter aircraft, according to the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine.

Speaking before U.S. lawmakers in Washington, Gen. Caine confirmed that a Ukrainian F-16 successfully destroyed a crewed Russian warplane in aerial combat. The announcement matches earlier reports that a Russian Su-35 Flanker-E was shot down over eastern Ukraine, marking the first confirmed fighter-to-fighter kill by Ukraine's F-16 fleet since the aircraft entered service.

The reported success is seen as a major milestone for Ukraine's air force. Although the donated F-16s are older upgraded variants, they are equipped with advanced weapons such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile, allowing them to engage enemy aircraft at long range.

Military analysts say the victory demonstrates that Western aircraft, when combined with modern weapons, tactical coordination and battlefield intelligence, can effectively challenge some of Russia's most advanced fighter jets.

Until now, Ukraine has mainly used its F-16s to intercept cruise missiles and drones. The latest engagement suggests the aircraft are now taking on a broader combat role, including direct air-to-air operations against Russian fighters.

The development is also expected to strengthen Western confidence in continued military support for Ukraine, including additional aircraft, missiles and spare parts.

Politics › 10 Reasons To Vote Bola Tinubu Again by OSPRO(op): 6:26pm On Jul 24

1. Track Record in Urban & Economic Governance

During his tenure as Governor of Lagos State (1999–2007), Tinubu oversaw a major restructuring of the state's internal revenue generation. His administration built economic and institutional frameworks that laid the groundwork for modern Lagos, turning it into one of Africa's largest urban economies.

2. Talent Identification & Governance Team

Tinubu is widely recognized for identifying, mentoring, and assembling competent technocrats, private-sector experts, and experienced administrators across political and regional divides.

3. Decisive Macroeconomic Reforms

Proponents point to his willingness to take tough, long-delayed fiscal measures—such as removing the costly fuel subsidy and unifying exchange rate windows—to stabilize federal finances and reduce long-term debt pressures.

4. Institutional Reform & Infrastructure Investment

Supporters emphasize his focus on expanding critical national infrastructure, including transport networks, deep-sea ports, and regional power initiatives aimed at boosting local manufacturing.

5. Defense & National Security Strategy

Under his administration, defense investments have targeted intelligence gathering, modern hardware procurement, and inter-agency coordination to combat insecurity across various geopolitical zones.

6. Political Strategy & Coalition Building

As a key architect of the All Progressives Congress (APC) merger in 2013, Tinubu demonstrated an ability to build cross-regional alliances, unite diverse political factions, and maintain political stability.

7. Private Sector-Friendly Policies
With a background in the corporate sector (including Mobil Oil), his policy direction prioritizes deregulation, ease of doing business, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

8. Financial Autonomy & Judicial Precedents

As governor, he famously defended state autonomy and federalism—notably when fighting for and winning the Supreme Court ruling regarding the creation and funding of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos.

9. Youth & Technological Development Programs

Supporters highlight federal initiatives designed to support young entrepreneurs and technical talent, such as consumer credit schemes, student loan frameworks, and digital skills training programs.

10. Regional Leadership & Foreign Policy

On the continental stage, his leadership within ECOWAS and regional bodies has focused on defending democratic governance, promoting trade integration, and enhancing West Africa's economic stability.
