PoliticsPresident Jonathan Sneaks To Obasanjo’s Home In Abeokuta by Ossycool(op): 6:06pm On Jan 01, 2014
OBASANJO JONATHAN

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan today made an unscheduled visit to his political mentor and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. Mr Jonathan met Obasanjo playing the popular Yoruba game of Ayo while he adorned a long traditional attire, Jalamia. According to sources who were at the venue of the meeting, Obasanjo was not expecting the President,
hence he did not tell any of his aides.

President Jonathan was reported to have told him that he came to pay homage for the New Year.
He left the venue after discussing some undisclosed issues with him around 3.35pm
The relationship between the Godfather and Godson has recently gone soue after Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan accused ex-leader Olusegun Obasanjo of threatening “national security” by whipping up opposition to his rule.
Mr Obasanjo had “set the stage for subversion” after making false claims of assassination plots and “high corruption” in government, he said.

Mr Jonathan was responding for the first time to a letter Mr Obasanjo wrote to him earlier this month.
He had called on the president not to seek re-election in 2015.
The public spat between the two men shows the deep divisions that have engulfed the governing People’s Democratic Party (PDP), amid fears that it could lose the election under Mr Jonathan’s leadership, correspondents say.
Last week, Mr Jonathan lost his majority in the lower chamber, the House of Representatives, after 37 PDP MPs defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
A powerful faction of state governors have also crossed over to the APC, leaving the PDP with fewer governors than the opposition.

In a rebuttal letter to Mr Obasanjo, Mr Jonathan said his government had taken effective steps to tackle the myriad problems that it inherited when it took office in 2010 – including corruption, oil theft, kidnappings, armed robberies and an Islamist-led insurgency.
“It is very regrettable that in your letter, you seem to place sole responsibility for the ongoing intrigues and tensions in the PDP at my doorstep, and going on from that position, you direct all your appeals for a resolution at me,” Mr Jonathan said.

The president said Mr Obasanjo had accused him of putting more than 1,000 Nigerians on a “political watch list, and that I am training snipers and other militia to assassinate people”.
Such allegations were “unconscionable and untrue” but he had asked the security agencies and National Human Rights Commission to investigate them, he said.
“Baba [father], I don’t know where you got that from but you do me grave injustice in not only lending credence to such baseless rumours, but also publicising it,” Mr Jonathan added.
The president said Mr Obasanjo had “surreptitiously” obtained a letter written by Central Bank governor Lamido Sanusi, alleging that nearly $50bn (£30bn) was “unaccounted for” by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

However, the allegation was “spurious” and Mr Obasanjo should apologise for impugning the integrity of the government, he added.
“In closing, let me state that you have done me grave injustice with your public letter in which you wrongfully accused me of deceit, deception, dishonesty, incompetence, clannishness, divisiveness and insincerity, amongst other ills,” he said.
Mr Jonathan moved from the vice-presidency to the presidency in 2010 after his predecessor, Umaru Yar’Adua, died in office.

He won presidential elections the following year, with the backing of Mr Obasanjo.
A former military ruler, Mr Obasanjo won democratic elections in 1999 and 2003 on the platform of the PDP.
He stepped down in 2007, after failing to win support to change the constitution so that he could run for a third term.

NET presents the 12 flops of 2013 – the embarrassing list.
Maheeda's nude gallery on instagram
Caroline ‘Maheeda’ Sam made sexy look stupid in 2013 with her constant nude ‘selfies’ on Instagram. We guess she was trying to impress us but the Pop singer-turned-Gospel act just looked real thirsty for fame. Then she went on to claim she was just trying to make young women feel more aware of their bodies. We’ll just call that the ‘Gospel according to Maheeda‘.

Tonto Dike
We don’t know why Tonto Dike irritates many; maybe it’s her croaking voice on those songs she released this year, her queer Twitter vocab, the way she flaunts the use of illegal drugs or the absolute ‘I-don’t-give-a f@ck-what-you-think-about-me’ attitude she goes about with.

Open Letters
When former president Olusegun Obasanjo wrote president Goodluck Jonathan blaming him for the woes of the country, he wasn’t prepared for another counter letter allegedly written by his daughter Iyabo criticizing him too. Copies of these controversial letters somehow found their way to the streets of Abuja where they were being sold. Have you finished reading the one from GEJ?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Casillas Reveals Condition For Real Madrid Exit by Ossycool(op): 8:13am On Dec 29, 2013
Casillas reveals condition for Real Madrid exitThe Spain goalkeeper has hinted at a possible departure from the Santiago Bernabeu, suggesting he wants to play for a club where he would be considered No.1
Iker Casillas has dropped the biggest hint yet that his future lies away from Real Madrid.

The goalkeeper, who is currently understudy to Diego Lopez at the Bernabeu, has spoken of his desire to be first choice again at club level.

Casillas has been linked with a string of top European sides ahead of next summer's World Cup when he faces a battle to keep his position as Spain's No.1.

The 32-year-old was expected to attend a training camp in Doha - backed by the Iker Casillas Foundation - for around 20 specially selected, young goalkeepers from around the world.

But, due to the possibility of his wife, Sara Carbonero, giving birth to the couple's first child this week, he opted out after medical advice.

Casillas instead spoke to the keepers on a conference call on Friday, dispensing advice from his own experiences and passing on tips for career progression.

At the end of the discussion, he took questions from the group and was asked directly if he was interested in joining Manchester City, the Premier League club managed by his former Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini.

"I'm not going anywhere I'm going to be No.2," said Casillas, who is under contract with Madrid until 2017.

Casillas has been linked with City after Pellegrini recently dropped Joe Hart, but the England goalkeeper has since won his place back and started in the 2-1 victory against Liverpool on Thursday.

But, intriguingly, the Spanish icon - who has a record 152 caps for his country - has left the door open for any club where he would be guaranteed to be first choice.

PoliticsRe: Doubts Surround Alleged Attack On Oduah’s Car by Ossycool: 1:34pm On Nov 26, 2013
dancewith: While not holding court for Oduah, This story appears sensationally biased against the minister. I am yet to see Punch campaign against the Taraba governor's sons who have looted in excess of billions with their father. The Oduah story seems deliberately kept up in Punch news for some reasons not yet clear, while various other corrupt officials are given little or no coverage. If you must come to equity, do so with unbridled hands.

Lets fight corruption in a way that is non selective. The way Punch is going about it, they are losing a just war
GEJ social media employee, how work now? U don't even know what u are talking about.

AutosRe: Tariff On Imported Cars To Rise By 60% by Ossycool: 7:20pm On Nov 25, 2013
djon78: And people will say Goodluck is clueless, this is an excellent move. When I returned to Nigeria I wept at the number of SUV on Nigerian roads, I factored in the colossal amount Nigeria loses to these cars, I suggested that govt should impose high tariff on them in some countries I have been in they impose up to 150 percent. So I say it is a very good move by GEJ and Okonjo Iweala. And this will encourage local production and job opportunities, once again, nice move.
I believe u don't reside in Nigeria and u don't have adequate info about our country, no investors yet on ground, no stable source of power, and I don't think the political will for them to succeed is there, so many company have left Nigeria to nearby countries because of high cost of production, how many Nigerians can buy a car worth 2m comfortably not to talk of a brand new car in a country like Nigeria full of inadequacies in their policies and structures.

God help us.
