SOME SOCIAL RULES THAT MAY HELP YOU.

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to.

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the person who loaned it to you remembers or asks for it. It shows your integrity and character. The same goes for umbrellas, pens, and lunch boxes.

3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is treating you to lunch or dinner.

4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh, so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids?’ Or ‘Why haven't you bought a house?’ Or ‘Why haven't you bought a car?’ For God’s sake, it isn’t your problem.

5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public.

6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time.

7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember, what may seem like 6 to you might appear as 9 to someone else. Besides, a second opinion is good for an alternative.

8. Never interrupt people while they are talking. Allow them to pour it out. As they say, hear them all and filter them all.

9. If you tease someone, and they don’t seem to enjoy it, stop it and never do it again. It encourages one to do more and shows how appreciative you are.

10. Say “thank you” when someone is helping you.

11. Praise publicly. Criticize privately.

12. There’s almost never a reason to comment on someone’s weight. Just say, “You look fantastic.” If they want to talk about losing weight, they will.

13. When someone shows you a photo on their phone, don’t swipe left or right. You never know what’s next.

14. If a colleague tells you they have a doctor's appointment, don’t ask what it’s for, just say "I hope you’re okay." Don’t put them in the uncomfortable position of having to tell you their personal illness. If they want you to know, they'll do so without your inquisitiveness.

15. Treat the cleaner with the same respect as the CEO. Nobody is impressed by how rudely you treat someone below you, but people will notice if you treat them with respect.

16. If a person is speaking directly to you, staring at your phone is rude.

17. Never give advice until you’re asked.

18. When meeting someone after a long time, unless they want to talk about it, don’t ask them their age or salary.

19. Mind your business unless anything involves you directly - just stay out of it.

20. Remove your sunglasses if you are talking to anyone in the street. It is a sign of respect. Moreover, eye contact is as important as your speech.

21. Never talk about your riches in the midst of the poor. Similarly, don't talk about your children in the midst of the barren.

22. After reading a good message, consider saying "Thanks for the message."

APPRECIATION remains the easiest way of getting what you don't have.

HOW TO STAY POOR

1. PRIORITIZE SLEEPING
Never wake up early. Stay in bed as long as possible, stretching and turning until hunger forces you to get up. If there are no bed bugs, why hurry?

2. PRIORITIZE SPENDING
Never plan on investments. Spend money as soon as you get it. When it's gone, try to recall how it disappeared.

3. AVOID SAVING
Don’t save until you have a huge amount of money. How can you save when you earn so little? Those who advise saving don't understand your very important expenses.

4. PRIORITIZE YOUR PRIDE
Avoid activities deemed "uneducated" or "low class" like selling or small businesses. As a graduate, professional, or someone from a well-known family, engaging in such affairs is a huge insult to your standards and status.

5. WAIT FOR MIRACLES
Wait for an angel to deliver a bag full of money for your capital. It’s impossible to start any business without millions. Sure, some businesses began with little capital, but you know success is 100% guaranteed if you start big.

6. COMPLAIN ENDLESSLY
Complain about everything except your own attitude and mindset. Blame your poverty on your parents, the system, the government, and the banks that refused to lend you money. They are all bad and do not want you to get rich.

7. OVERSPEND
Always spend more than you earn. Buy products on credit and keep borrowing from friends and employers to maintain your lifestyle.

8. DRESS TO IMPRESS
Make sure you look rich so others will be intimidated by your presence. Win your secret showing-off competition. Whenever your neighbor buys a new phone, make sure you get a more expensive one.

9. PRIORITIZE CAR
Purchase a car that costs more than three times your annual salary. It’s an essential status symbol. Don’t worry if you don’t have a house or a place to park it. In fact, don’t prioritize buying your own house because you can’t use it to impress people like you can with a car.

10. SPOIL YOUR CHILDREN
Give your children everything they ask for to show your love and prove you’re the best parent. They shouldn’t struggle for anything. It doesn’t matter if they grow up lazy and entitled. What’s important is that you give them the best so they don’t suffer, unlike those cruel parents who, despite their means, choose to let their children struggle.

11. FOCUS ON ENTERTAINMENT
Devote your time, energy, and resources to watching your favorite sports or playing computer games. It doesn’t matter if you’re not productive. What’s important is that you enjoy life to the fullest. A time spent on enjoyment is never wasted.

12. PRIORITIZE VICES
Indulge in your favorite vices. Whether it's smoking, drinking, or gambling, make these your top priorities. Enjoy drinking with friends and embrace the image of being a smoker or gambler. Fully commit to these habits, regardless of their impact on your well-being or finances.

She smiled in delight. “That will be good. That will be very good.”

“But there is something I must say too,” I put in.

“What is it?”

I allowed a meaningful pause, sipping more juice. “I don’t believe in just boyfriend/girlfriend stuff. I believe in serious relationship, a long lasting relationship.”

I smiled briefly. “Above all, I believe in sex only in marriage. Premarital or extramarital sex, to me, is no, no, no. I will give a lot of caresses, mind blowing ones, but the physical activity will not go beyond that.”

I stared at her face to read her reaction. At first, she appeared shocked by what I said. Then she broke into a long laughter.

“No premarital sex? No sex? Tell me you’re joking, Tayo.”

I smiled at her laughter. So, she thought I was joking? No, she was wrong.

“I’m serious, madam. It’s a policy I love and want to continue with. There will be no sex until we are legally married.”

She saw my seriousness and stared at me. “You’re really serious?”

I nodded emphatically. “Yes, I am.”

“Does that mean you can marry a woman like me – a woman much older than yourself?”

“Of course. Once love develops in the course of the relationship, the target is marriage.”

She stood up from the dining-table and moved to a seat in the sitting-room. She appeared thinking over what I said. I decided to allow her to take her time.

I washed my hands, dried it with the table cloth, took the last sip from the juice and went to join her in the sitting-room. I however took a seat opposite her.

“No man had I ever told me what you said,” she blurted out musingly. “Do you really mean all these? Please, stop hyping me.”

I smiled genially at her. “I mean everything I just said.”

She shook her head. “No, that’s unbelievable. Are you saying if I offer you sex right now, you will say no?”

“Definitely.”

She shook her head again. “No, you can’t be serious.”

She stood up. “Give me one minute.” She left the sitting room. I wondered what she was up to. A minute later, she was back. There was a wad of five hundred naira notes in her hand. She dropped it on the center table.

“That money and a lot more is for you if you can do one simple thing. It’s a favour from me to you, take that money and take me. Yes, I mean it and I’m saying it boldly, I’m all yours right now.”

“What an offer! What a beautiful offer. If taking you is to caress your lovely body, I am in. But if it goes beyond that, count me out.”

I smiled, stood up and walked towards the money. It was crisp and new. I dropped it back on the table and walked towards her.

“You’re very beautiful, madam,” I said. I pulled her up to her feet and kissed her. A knowing smile was on her face as she promptly wrapped her hands around my neck.

I kissed her again, long, deep and breath-taking. It was electrifying and I really felt I was doing all these to a desirable woman. Her body was very soft against mine.

She was some inches shorter and her forehead was where my mouth was. I could feel her big breasts against my mid-rift. I could vividly feel the beating of her heart.

Then, I disengaged from her.

"You have to take me completely," she said gently. "I won't settle for anything less."

I shook my head. “I’m sorry, but what I said still stands; what I said about believing that there should be no premarital sex. It’s a belief I’m not going to discard for anything in this world.”

She looked at me in a shock and flopped back on her seat.

I took some steps away from her. It was now few minutes to ten. “I really want to thank you for the sumptuous meal. Thank you so much for the opportunity to hold you lovingly – and the kiss. I will give you time to think about what I said. I’m ready to give you time to decide if I’m really suitable for you. For now, I will like to take my leave. Thanks for everything.”

I was about to turn and go.

“Wait. Let me ask you this: do you have any feeling for me at all?” she asked.

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Reading is a discount ticket to everywhere.

"There is no friend as loyal as a book." - Ernest Hemingway.

"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Reading brings us unknown friends.

"A book is a dream that you hold in your hands." - Neil Gaiman

Books are a uniquely portable mystery.

A lady worked at a meat distribution factory.

One day, when she finished with her work schedule, she went into the meat cold room (Freezer) to inspect something, but in a moment of misfortune, the door closed and she was locked inside with no help in sight.

Although she screamed and knocked with all her might, her cries went unheard as no one could hear her. Most of the workers had already gone, and outside the cold room it's impossible to hear what was going on inside.

Five hours later, whilst she was at the verge of death, the security guard of the factory eventually opened the door.

She was miraculously saved from dying that day.

When she later asked the security guard how he had come to open the door, which wasn't his usual work routine.

His explanation: "I've been working in this factory for 35 years, hundreds of workers come in and out every day, but you're one of the few who greet me in the morning and say goodbye to me every night when leaving after work. Many treat me as if I'm invisible.

Today, as you reported for work, like all other days, you greeted me in your simple manner 'Hello'. But this evening after working hours, I curiously observed that I

had not heard your "Bye, see you tomorrow".

"Hence, I decided to check around the factory. I look forward to your 'hi' and 'bye' every day because they remind me that I am someone.

"By not hearing your farewell today, I knew something had happened. That's why I was searching every where for you."

Be humble, love and respect those around

you. Try to have an impact on people who

cross your path every day, you never know

what tomorrow will bring..

Stay Blessed.

It’s best to take a deep breath and pause before you show your anger.

This has been a struggle for me. Sometimes I can be quick tempered and it is something I work on every day. I think that I have gotten better as I get older. Honestly, I know from experience that it is always best to take a step back and collect yourself and your thoughts before lashing out. I always try to remind myself that I cannot take back words or actions once I've let them out.

The same goes for sending a nasty email or text. Never send an email or text when you are angry. Write it if you must, but never hit send until you have time to cool down!

YOU are accountable for your actions and choices…and NO ONE else!

I have been trying to instill this fact in my children since they were old enough to understand. A lot of people are very quick to blame others for their misfortunes, bad choices, and situations when in reality, they need to take a good look in the mirror. For some people, it is always someone else’s fault.

The truth is, each of us is responsible for ourselves and need to accept the outcome of our actions and choices. Accountability for your own actions is an important part of maturity and understanding that each choice you make has a consequence is something you can never forget.

What a day it had been – from Ms. Morgan’s good news, to my long stay at work, and now this. T.K would definitely be surprised to learn that right now, I was in Madam Becky’s flat eating fried rice.

“Take more,” she urged, opening the plate of food.

“Oh, thanks, but I’m okay.”

“You’re shy?”

“No o.” I smiled.

She opened a pack of apple juice and poured some into a glass cup. I thanked her again. We sipped the drinks. The smile kept hovering on her face. I would think nothing much of it the way I thought nothing much of Shade’s own.

“Then, take more. You can take more chicken.”
I liked to be modest, but I obliged her on this. I munched the chicken and sipped the juice at the same time.

“There’s something I need to tell you,” she said.

I nodded. “I’m all ears, madam.”

“I’m a woman who believes in going out for what she wants. Without mincing words, I’ll say categorically that I like you and will want us to get intimate.”

Involuntarily, a short cough emitted from me. I nearly got choked. Had I heard the her correctly? Had she really brazenly told me that she would like us to get intimate?

“Are you alright?” she asked out of concern. I nodded and sipped some drinks to calm down.

I shouldn’t be surprised by what she said. Had she not been giving me enough hints since the previous day? Had she not been seductive in her moves and utterances? All the same, I was taken aback by her brashness.

She gave me a moment to be calm. My mind was busy.

“So, what do you say to what I just said?”

“I feel glad and excited about it,” I replied. “But the big fact is I cannot maintain a high class woman like you. You are a successful lawyer and high up. You’re so sophisticated and beyond who I can take care of.”

She laughed shortly. “I’m glad you didn’t say I’m too old for you. Look, forget about you taking care of me. I’m well and capable of taking care of myself. I will even be the one to take care of you.”

I appeared to think over this. It was the first time in my life a woman would be saying such a thing to me. I would not say an outright no. I would have to be very discreet.

“Okay, madam. There’ll be no problem.”

“But, there’s a condition,” she said, almost sternly. “I’m a very jealous woman. I will not condone any rivalry. No other woman, lady or girl will be tolerated.”

I smiled. “That will be no problem. I always cherish faithfulness in relationship. It will be you, and only you.”

She smiled in delight. “That will be good. That will be very good.”

“But there is something I must say too,” I put in.

Some of the Lessons I’ve Learned in Life

1. A good laugh or cry always makes you feel better.

I don’t know why it is, but letting go of emotions always makes me feel a sense of relief. There is nothing better than laughing out loud with friends or family, even if it is laughing at the most ridiculous things.

On the other hand, a good cry through whatever adverse situation you are going through also releases the built up emotions that have been bottled up inside. I always feel a sense of calm after facing situations and dealing with the emotions, good or bad, that go with them.

2. We are all going to fail at some point. Don't miss the lesson the failure is meant to teach you.

It’s inevitable, we all fail sometimes. What is important about the failure is how you deal with it. It takes a while to learn to take a step back from a failure and ask yourself: “What am I supposed to learn from this?”

Maybe the answer is as simple as learning to pick yourself up and start over. Maybe it's an opportunity to give you a reason to try harder. Whatever the lesson may be, it is there to help shape us and mold us into the person we are meant to be. When you view failure as a positive experience, you will decrease the negative feelings that failure can bring.

3. Not everyone will like you, and that's OK!

This was a hard lesson for me to learn because I have always looked at myself as a “likable” person. I always try to be friendly and welcoming, but that doesn't always equate to being liked. It’s hard to accept that there are just some people who do not like me, for whatever reason.

As I get older, I realize that whoever these people are, they have their reasons for the way they feel and they are free to feel that way. As long as I know that I do my best keep my integrity and treat others respectfully, they cannot affect who I am if I do not let them.

Mike Tyson - Fact of Life :
"I had my oldest son who was 16 telling me he wanted to become a professional boxer. But stop there, you're stup!d, you went to a private school! You can't be a boxer, you've taken trips to Europe, you've been around the world. You can't be a fighter with that. You want to fight guys like me? Animals? I don't want my kids to go through that, it's degrading.

Boxing, you do it when you have nothing. It's a lot of sacrifices, pain, suffering. I took the blows so that my children wouldn't have to do it. When I look at them, I see middle-class children, who went to school, who do what they want. Boxing means wanting to be the best, to dominate everyone.

It's possible for any man to ask for sёx in a relationship, but is left for you as a lady to know that sёx, can't keep him..(Sёx isn't enough)

There are two major factors ladies complain about sёx in a relationship:

(1) After giving him my body he left me..

(2)He left because I refused to have sёx with him..

NOTE: Both those who gave and those who refused to give are complaining...

( Whats the difference)

Ladies Listen, Sёx isn't enough, its not the only thing you can offer a man.

If You Don't Have Anything To Offer A Man Outside Sёx, Please remain Single...

A man can't stay with you because his having sёx with you....

Relationship is not buying and selling.

There are much to life than Monkey style, Doggy style, Missionary style, Apple n juice style, step pillows style, etc ...

Are you sound intellectually? Spiritually? Physically? Mentally? Emotionally?

Men love intelligent ladies...

Men love ladies with ideas..

Men love respectful ladies...

Men respect ladies that know what domestic work is

Men love and appreciate a woman who is good and excellent in multi-tasking

Men respect and honor ladies that wakes up very early in the morning to make sure that the kitchen is set.

Men respect ladies that keep their eyes at home than those that their eyes are always outside

Men love bravo ladies

Sёx is very cheap these days, anybody can buy it.

You need to build yourself beyond sёx.

Leave make-ups and be a productive lady.

Men are looking for ladies with ideas and solution not those who paint their faces with different colours.

*What some man wants is beauty with brain not make ups with boobs or hips. Because all these will fail but what you have upstairs will remain.

Your husband complains because you think that you know it but you don't know it. Just do what your own husband wants and not what men want. Hope it help our generations

A Heartfelt Thanks

Oh Lord, our God, we come to say,
Thank you for all, in every way.
For life, for love, for blessings true,
We thank you, Lord, for all we do.

Your grace and mercy, we receive with glee,
Your peace and joy, a gift to me.
In times of need, you're always near,
Guiding us through, dispelling fear.

For family, friends, and all we hold dear,
We thank you, Lord, and wipe away our tear.
For health, for strength, for every new day,
We give thanks, Lord, in every way.

Your love and care, a constant theme,
A shelter from life's stormy dream.
In gratitude, we lift our voice,y
Thanking you, Lord, with heart and choice.

May our thanks rise like incense sweet,

“Right now,” she said grandiosely, “I’m by the door of your flat. Where are you?”

I chuckled. “Oh, good evening, madam. I’m still at work and may not come back until quite late.”

“Work? When did you start work? What work are you doing?”

“I just started the work yesterday,” I told her.

“Oh, that’s nice. I have a little surprise for you. See me to pick it when you come home. See you.”

Madam Becky had a surprise for me? I wondered what that could be. I finally close few minutes after eight.

“You really closed late today,” Betty commented.

I smiled at her and waved her off. The traffic was quite bad, so I could not get home until minutes after nine. I could see that the lights in out flat were on. That meant T.K was back. I decided to go to Madam Becky’s flat, first.

I knocked at her door. I was about to do so again when her voice asked from inside who was it.

“It’s me. Tayo.”

She instantly came to open the door. I was hit by what I saw. Lawyer Becky was in a grey lingerie. Her ebony skin glistened under the soft lighting of the room. Her curves were depicted by the lacy material. It hugged her body at all the right parts.

Her face had full luscious lips that were tinted with red lipstick. Her eyes were glinting with invitation. Arms akimbo, she appeared confident with an alluring smile. I must say she displayed high feminity and sensuality.

“Good evening, Tayo.”

I was awestricken. “Good…good evening, Madam Becky.”

She smiled. Her smile reminded me of Shade, my first girlfriend. That was the same kind of smile she gave me the day she took me to her room. I was nineteen then, and I didn’t understand. She had asked me if I was alright, since I didn’t make any move. Shade had become hostile. That was the end of the relationship.

Now, Madam Becky was giving me the same kind of smile.

“Come in.”

She walked gracefully and seductively towards the dining section of the sitting-room. Her hips swayed. They were big. And they were enticing.

Like somebody under a spell, I followed her. There was a large tray on the table and some plates in it.

“Here, this is the surprise I have for you.”

She opened one of the plates. It contained fried rice and chicken. I realized at this point I could not back out.

“Please, sit down.”

“You mean you went through all this trouble for me?”

She nodded. “For us.”

I sat down at the table.

“You deserve it. A guy like you deserves it.”

She sat by my side. I could perceive the perfume she had on. She dished some food and chicken on an empty slab and handed it to me. She dished some for herself.

“Thanks for the hospitality,” I said. I could not think of any other words.

“You’re welcome.”

I muttered a short prayer and started to eat. After the first take, I gave a compliment. We ate in silence. Had she really cooked all these? If the answer was in the affirmative, then she had tried.

“The meal is indeed delicious,” I said again halfway through it.

“Hmn-hmn.”

What a day it had been – from Ms. Morgan’s good news, to my long stay at work, and now this.

A world without religions

A world without religions would likely present both benefits and challenges. On one hand, the absence of religious conflicts and divisions could potentially lead to greater unity and cooperation among diverse communities. Without the historical tensions and animosities often associated with religious differences, people might find more common ground and shared values upon which to build a harmonious society.

However, religions also provide moral guidance, a sense of community, and comfort to many individuals. In a world without religious beliefs, there might be a loss of some of these sources of comfort and guidance. Additionally, religions often inspire individuals and communities to engage in acts of charity, social justice, and compassion. In the absence of these religious motivations, there might be a need to find alternative sources of inspiration for altruism and social change.

Overall, a world without religions would likely be vastly different from the one we know today. It may present unique opportunities for greater unity and understanding, but also pose challenges in terms of ethical and moral frameworks, as well as the potential loss of valuable sources of inspiration and solace for many people.

Chief of Staff? Ms. Morgan, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker?

I smiled. Well, that was good news. I didn’t know that Ms. Morgan had connections with Abuja politicians. This was a lofty connection.

“Congratulations, madam,” I found myself saying.

“Thank you. That brings us to the second development. You and I will be relocating to Abuja in the next few days.”

My eyes popped out. Relocating to Abuja? I never envisaged that. Gosh!

“As my P.A., you will go with me. Any objection to that?”

My mind was in a frenzy. I was sure T.K and my friends would be surprised by the sudden turn of event. Wasn’t I surprised too?

“Of course, no objection, madam. I’m only utterly surprised by the turn of event.”

“I know you will be. I’ve been in the process long before now. But it’s not too late that my good friend and big aunty, Bukky, has given the appointment now. It’s all for good.”

I smiled and nodded.

“My businesses, of course, will continue. This is just a political appointment that will not last for long. I mean in four years’ time, there would be another general election. Well, for now, I will make hays while the sun shines.”

I agreed with her. It was always good to make hays while the sun shines.

“So, you have to start preparing to move,” she went on. “I will be taking the mid-day flight to Abuja today and will be back by Friday. But the next time I go to Abuja, we’re going together.”
I nodded. The scene was too fast-moving. It was like watching a movie.

“It will be a pleasure, madam, to continue to work for you. Once again, congratulations to you.”

When I got back to Linda, I shared the news with her. She had been told about it, but she didn’t know whether to be happy or not.

“Why?” I asked in surprise. “You are supposed to be happy.”

Linda shook her head. “Madam told me I’m still in her employ, but I’ll remain in Lagos.”
I thought over that and shrugged. “Well, as long as you remain her employee, nothing is lost.”

“What if she’s actually planning to get rid of me?”

“Oh, oh, don’t be so negative. I think there’s nothing to fear about. On my part, I’m really happy for her.”

When it was few minutes to eleven, we left for the local wing at the MM Airport. Madam had already come prepared with a valise in the booth of the SUV. She had done all her travelling arrangements and was just to board the mid-day flight by a local airliner.

As she moved out of the lounge to take the flight, Linda and I bade her farewell and went back to the car park.

My mind was still in a frenzy. In the last hours, so many things had happened. I could still see that Linda was moody. I tried to chat her up but with little success. We returned to the Allen store. I realized I would not have much things to do for now, till I joined Ms. Morgan in Abuja. Before she left, she had said I should oversee the store’s manager at Allen. How exactly was I going to do that?

I sat where I used to sit, just before her office. The manager, Alfred, came to meet me.

“So, you’re the little boss, now,” he said jovially.

“Oga madam already instructed that I should report to you.”

I smiled and nodded. I soon found out that he was a friendly man who was ready to defer to a much younger man. Things went well at the store for the rest of the day. About two p.m., Ms. Morgan called to inform that she had safely arrived Abuja and resumed office. She said I should let her know if there was any problem.

I decided to wait till eight p.m. when the store closed before I too would close. I had to call T.K to tell him I would be coming home late. I would reserve the details of what had happened till I got home.

About seven p.m., I got a call from Lawyer Becky.

“Right now,” she said grandiosely, “I’m by the door of your flat. Where are you?”

A man leaves his house situated near a lake. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out, since it is such a beautiful day. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book.

Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says," Good morning, Ma'am, what are you doing"?

"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious"?)

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her.

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. I'll have to write you up a ticket."

"For reading a book"? she replies.

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her again.

"But officer, I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to write you up a ticket and you'll have to pay a fine."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the Game Warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he immediately departed.

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.

Sure, God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece!!”

A man was asked to paint a boat. He brought his paint and brushes and began to paint the boat a bright red, as the owner asked him.

While painting, he noticed a small hole in the hull, and quietly repaired it.

When he finished painting, he received his money and left.

The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment for painting.

The painter was surprised and said “You've already paid me for painting the boat Sir!”

“But this is not for the paint job. It's for repairing the hole in the boat.”

“Ah! But it was such a small service... certainly it's not worth paying me such a high amount for something so insignificant.”

“My dear friend, you do not understand. Let me tell you what happened:

“When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the hole.

“When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip.

“They did not know that there was a hole. I was not at home at that time.

“When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was desperate because I remembered that the boat had a hole.

“Imagine my relief and joy when I saw them returning from fishing.

“Then, I examined the boat and found that you had repaired the hole!

“You see, now, what you did? You saved the life of my children! I do not have enough money to pay your 'small' good deed.”

So no matter who, when or how, continue to help, sustain, wipe tears, listen attentively, and carefully repair all the 'leaks' you find. You never know when one is in need of us, or when God holds a pleasant surprise for us to be helpful and important to someone.

Along the way, you may have repaired numerous 'boat holes' for several people without realizing how many lives you've save. ❤️

Make a difference.

The following morning, I got to work few minutes to eight. The plaza had just opened and a sales girl was arranging items on the shelves. She seemed thorough and meticulous in what she was doing.

“Good morning,” I greeted.

“Good morning, sir. Welcome.”

I paused. “Can I help you?”

She seemed surprised by my offer. “Help me? Are you not Madam’s new manager?”

I smiled. “Not exactly. I’m her new P.A.”

“Yes, but it’s not your job to arrange goods for sale.”

“I know. I’m only asking if I can assist you.”

“Assist me?” She looked uncertain again. “Ah, no. Thank you very much, sir.”

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“Elizabeth. But you can call me Betty.”

“Okay, Betty. Have a nice day.”

“And you too.”

I left her for the space just before Ms. Morgan’s office. I could always sit on one of the three chairs there. That would be my ‘office’ for now, I told myself amusedly.

My phone beeped to announce a WhatsApp message. I checked it. Surprisingly, it was from a number I had saved as Neighbour Lady. That was Lawyer Becky aka Mummy Favour. I read her message:

Thank you for all the troubles yesterday. I really appreciate all you did. You are a rare breed.

I smiled at the message. A rare breed? Just because I tried to kill a scorpion?

‘Good morning, madam’ I replied. ‘Don’t mention it; it’s a pleasure.’

I will really love to appreciate the gesture, she wrote further. A good turn deserves another.
Now, this was getting interesting. How exactly did she want to appreciate my gesture?

‘As I stated yesterday, you don’t have to bother. It’s okay.’

She didn’t reply again.

Some minutes later, my phone rang. It was Ms. Morgan on the line.

“Good morning, madam”

“Good morning, Tayo. Come to the Opebi store.”

She disconnected the line. I had to leave Allen for Opebi. I met Linda by the car at the car park. This time, madam had come in another car, an SUV.

“Good morning, Ms. Linda,” I greeted her.

“Good morning, Tayo. How’re you?”

“Fine. How are you too? How was your night?”

“Lonely.”

I caught a tone of wistfulness in her voice. I only smiled and moved into the store. Madam was sitting where the store manager was supposed to sit.

Ms. Morgan was a sight to behold in her grey skirt suit. The perfectly tailored cloth hugged her curves in all the right places. The jacket fitted and accentuated her bust down to her waist. She was in a sitting position but I was sure the skirt would be knee length, showing her smooth knees and skin.

Her hair was styled in sleek up do. The makeup was not loud. Rather, it was subtle and natural. Even as she sat, this woman that should be in her late forties exuded confidence, poise and sophistication. She was an epitome of elegance and beauty; and a vision of power and feminity.

“Good morning, madam.”

She smiled at me as if she appreciated my sublime thoughts about her. “Good morning.”

She pointed at a chair for me to sit.

“Thank you, ma’am.”

She nodded. “There are new developments I want you to know. Number one, I’ve got an appointment.”

That was a surprise. An appointment for madam? What appointment? What did she need an appointment for, with this thriving business?

She smiled at me. “I know you’re wondering what I’m talking about. Yes, I have a new appointment. Do you know Mrs. Bukola Abdulahi?”

I thought briefly. Of course, the name was familiar. Wait a minute, was that not the prominent woman in the national assembly?

“That must be the deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,” I said.

She nodded. “That’s good. I can see that you are current. I’ve been appointed as the Chief of Staff in her office in Abuja.”

Chief of Staff? Ms. Morgan, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker?

Ayo grinned and pulled her to himself. At that moment, he was ready to tell her a million times that he loved her, just to get what he wanted.

* * *

A week after visiting Rita, Ayo hatched something special for Rose. As the moon hung low in the velvety midnight sky, the city sprawled beneath them lluminated by a tapestry of twinkling lights. The air was crisp, carrying with it a hint of winter's approach, but in his heart, there was nothing but warmth.

Tonight was the night Ayo had planned to propose to Rose, the love of his life, and his restless anticipation mingled with excitement, making his heart dance within his chest.

They had just returned from a night out, their spirits lightened by laughter and memories shared. Street sounds blended harmoniously with the soft music playing from nearby cafes, creating a symphony of urban life that seemed to celebrate their momentous occasion. Hand in hand, they strolled along the cobblestone pathways, relishing each step, as if the world had turned down its volume just for us.

He had selected an intimate spot in the heart of a glistening park at Alausa, Ikeja, where an arched structure stood in quiet elegance, embraced by enchanting rose gardens. Moonlight cast ethereal shadows upon the petals, as if they too knew the magnitude of the moment. The air carried the intoxicating scent of roses, their delicate fragrance wrapping around them like a promise of everlasting love.

His heart thudded against his ribcage as he turned to face Rose under the glow of a nearby lamppost. Bathed in its soft light, her dazzling smile lit up the night, radiating the beauty that captivated him from the very beginning. In her eyes, a universe of trust and adoration awaited me, reflecting the eternal bond they had nurtured throughout their journey together.

Taking a deep breath to steady his racing thoughts, he mustered the courage to speak. Emotion encased every word as his declaration of love spilled forth, recounting the countless ways Rose had filled his life with joy, warmth, and an indescribable sense of completeness. Every syllable wrought with vulnerability, he confessed that she was his heart's chosen destination and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life sharing an irrevocable connection with her.

As the words hung in the air, time momentarily suspended as if the universe too, awaited Rose's answer. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, her breath catching in her throat. A tender smile graced her lips, revealing her acceptance of his proposal before the words even tumbled from her mouth. In that moment, a celestial connection sealed their fates together, binding their souls in an eternal love that transcended the boundaries of time and space.

They stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, cradled by the night and the embracing moonlight. As their hearts danced to the rhythm of a future filled with promises and dreams, the world faded into a blur, leaving only the purity of their entwined spirits against the backdrop of the city's twinkling lights.
