Agriculture / Re: My Farming Project, 2022/2023 Farming Season by Othuke628: 6:01am On Sep 16, 2023
Sorry I didn't post since all these while, I initially lost my phone.
The farming season has come to an end. I was able to cultivate only about 8 plots of the land. I lost two plots of pepper to torrential downpour. I was able to get two plots of pepper. Two plots of okra. Two plots of cassava and potatoes.

Here are some of the pictures.

No plans for irrigation. In Bayelsa, the land is usually wet in November. And besides, the flood just receded(check the pics attached), so the land is still wet.

Yes. Bayelsa has two farming seasons- the dry and the rainy season.

Othuke628:
Farm location is Yenagoa, Bayelsa.
I have access to over 20 plots of land and I intend to cultivate the following crops: maize and melon (intercrop), okro, pepper, cucumber.
Last time, I used this very plot with heaps for potatoes, but it was ravaged by the flood.
Join me in this journey.
. One plot fully saturated with corn and melon. It was planted on Wednesday 16th November, 2022.

Nairaland / General / Nigerian Army Destroys Azagbene Community In Bayelsa by Othuke628: 3:52am On Jul 30, 2019
Let the whole world know that the Nigerian Army that cannot fight boko haram did this to innocent citizens in Azagbene community, Ekeremor local government of Bayelsa state, because of the crime of a few persons.

The Nigerian Army did this because it was alleged that some youths killed two of their soldiers. Boko Haram that has been killing them like cattle has not gotten any treatment like this.

Career / Lessons Nigerian Youths Must Learn From Comedian, Mark Angel by Othuke628: 6:42pm On Jun 08, 2017
All and sundry knows of his recent breakthrough and probably his net worth, but there are some lessons and features Nigerian youths must know about this young man, Mark Angel .

He is young and passionate
Just like every youth in Nigeria. Age is on his side and he has taste for something; and that thing is success. And I bet he has achieved it.

He was hopeful –
Hope is one thing that can keep a poor man alive. Even when he lost his benefactor to the cruel hands of death, he remained hopeful. He never blamed the corruption in the system or neither the system itself. He didn’t blame life for every so called impending curse. He kept or thriving and today he has over 170 million views on YouTube.

He kept his dream alive –
This gift gave him a dream just like everyone else and he kept the dream alive. He didn’t allow the environment or economy to kill it. He didn’t allow his friends or relatives or other close associates to kill it . I don’t know if he has fulfilled his dream, but it has taken him far and yet, there is room for improvement.

He belongs to the same system as all Nigerian youths

It’s good to put blame on certain things and people, but it doesn’t make anyone responsible . Mark Angel had every right to blame it on his uncle’s death, the government, the society, the unfair treatment and then chicken out and probably pick up arm and become a social vice; and when apprehended he can quote- “the government failed to give me a job” or “it is the work of the devil” and many other excusable quote. But instead, he choose to create his own world that will enable him fulfil his dreams.

He had a gift –
Some people don’t know the importance of having a gift or a special thing within; but he did, and he used the gift (comedy) to create a platform for himself . Today that platform has earned him over 700,000 subscribers on YouTube , propelling his net worth to about N70, 000, 000 (although with his partner, Emmanuella).

He is a success- just as anyone else can be
Success only comes when certain steps are laid on certain foundation. Today he is a success, but it came with a price. Every Nigerian youth can succeed, all they need do is to lay the right foundation on the right surface .

Nairaland / General / Youth Empowerment: A Means To Ending Recession by Othuke628: 7:41am On Jun 03, 2017
We are in a country whose economy is still struggling, trying to get on its feet and while we await its ascension, some persons are suffering severely and many souls has been lost to hunger, desperation, hopelessness and lack of opportunities. The federal government has rolled out measures to curb this recessive economy, but we have not seen its immediate effect and the set of people suffering the most from this recession are the Youths- the power house .

“This current administration have few/no youths in it and the youths are unhappy about it. And for this recession to recede or totally fade away,
youths must be catered for. Adequate attention must be given to them. One sure way to give the youths attention is through youth empowerment.”
