If that version of history is accurate then those kings are equal and Oranmiyan's children are ruling at separate locations and are equal. Seniority based on what, and for what exactly? There is a reason, the last two Oba of Benin went to Ife Immediately after their coronation, and not Oyo. Oyo is a younger brother to Benin. The oba of benin also wrote a letter to the Ooni in the 1930s calling the Ooni his father. There is a reason the letter was not sent to the Alaafin, but the Ooni.

The colonial master also witnessed the Ooni's superiority when they called for him to come to Lagos to settle the dispute between the Akarigbo and the Elepe in the 1900s on whether the Elepe had a right to wear a Ade (Crown). There was a reason they sent for the Ooni and not the Alaafin.
