No doubt, Dino Melaye was a popular voice in the Nigerian Senate, who frequently enmeshed himself in controversy before, through a seeming huge conspiracy, was “defeated” by Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent Kogi West Senatorial District rerun election ordered by the Supreme Court. In the rundown to the 2019 elections, Melaye, known for his flamboyant lifestyle, alongside Bukola Saraki, and 13 other Senators, who defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), tirelessly fought the APC-led Federal Government, but while others in that fight lost their re-election bid, Melaye was still standing. However, his seat came under threat when the Supreme Court ordered re-run in his district, the result of which, Adeyemi of the APC, his major contender for the seat, was said to have polled 88,373 votes to Melaye, who secured 62,133 votes. The questions being asked by curious fans of the ousted Senator are: now that Dino Melaye is out from the Senate, what’s next for him? After losing the Senate seat, how would he fuel the range of flashy cars he ostentatiously flaunts on social media? How would he be able to maintain his flamboyant lifestyle? It appears Facebook Web crashed early hours of today in Nigeria as a visit to the social media site on Google Chrome returned “This site can’t be reached” error message. “The webpage at https://www.facebook.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address,” the error message further read. Getting error messages similar to this, the first thing that comes to mind is an Internet connection issue. I have to switch connections to my different Wi-Fi devices and restart the devices on several occasions, but the issue persisted. Visits to other websites, of course, did not display the error message. They loaded as usual. When I usually have error issues due to Internet connectivity, the image below is the message I usually get. This left me curious to start searching for what might be wrong. MailOnline confirmed the development as it reported that Facebook also crashed in some parts of the United Kingdom. “Facebook appears to have crashed in parts of the UK, leaving thousands of users unable to access their social media accounts,” MailOnline reported. I first noticed the issue at about 9:55AM WAT. After I attempted visiting the site on several occasions without getting through, I have to try my hands on Mozilla Firefox. The website, however, worked on Mozilla Firefox and on the mobile app. However, it appears engineers at Facebook are working to fix the issue, as the site would sometimes load and at other times display the same error message. At the time of publishing this on www.thenewsguru.com/technology, the issue still persists. However, according to a report on ZNet, going into ‘Incognito mode’ on Google Chrome appears to rectify the issue. ZNet also says that a hard refresh, which clears the cache for a webpage, appears to be working for some users. A trick that has, however, worked for me can be found on TheNewsGuru website (http://www.thenewsguru.com/breaking-facebook-web-crashes-nigeria/).

Edo state and the good people of Benin kingdom recently witnessed the historic crowning of the new Oba of Benin, but little did we know history has been wrong all these while. Thursday 20 October 2016 will go down well in the history of the world as the Benin Traditional Council crowned Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as the 40th Oba of Benin. The enthronement is coming after the April 2016 death of the 38th Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, who was crowned Oba of Benin in 1979. Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, Ọba atọkpẹ e, Ọmọ n’ ọba n’ edo uku a’ kpọlọ kpọlọ, ascended the throne as Ọba Ewuare II. Why the name, Oba Ewuare II? Oba Ewuare also known as Ewuare the Great, was the king of the Benin Empire from 1440 until 1473. Ewuare became king in a violent coup against his brother Uwaifiokun. The coup destroyed much of Benin City. After the war, Ewuare rebuilt much of the city of Benin, reformed political structures in the kingdom, greatly expanded the territory of the kingdom, and fostered the arts and festivals. He left a significant legacy and is often considered the first King of the Benin Empire. The speech of Oba Ewuare II at his coronation is a proof that the spirit of Oba Ewuare is back alive in a whole new dimension. Ewuare means “the trouble has ceased”. As if that was not enough, the newly crowned Oba preferred to be known as the 40th Oba of the Benin kingdom, not the 39th, and we think he is right. The Oba of Benin, Ọba atọkpẹ e, Ọmọ n’ ọba n’ edo uku a’ kpọlọ kpọlọ, Oba Ewuare II, at his coronation said that henceforth, Oronmiyan, the son of Oduduwa and father of Eweka I should be regarded as an Oba for all purposes; because, according to him, “Oronmiyan was an Oba”. How right can he be? Many centuries ago... READ MORE HERE: http://thenewsguru.com/newly-crowned-oba-ewuare-ii-not-39th-oba-benin-kingdom/
