Actually, no amount of intervention can help a University Engineering student who cannot solve SS3 Mathematics. He will just grope through school and get withdrawn, ultimately. I would rather counsel such a soul to retake Jamb and choose a biological science course while going for extra mural school to learn basic Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
It is a very unfortunate situation, I must confess. We can't afford to have Engineers who would waste lives for trying to put together a system that is bound to fail on the altar of incompetence.
