Those that lived through the civil war, would not under any circumstance agitate for a repeat.
This new generation are agitating because they have no idea as to the reality of things.

1 : Accept #700k as partial payment (For starters, you need to keep body and soul together)
2 : Do not under any circumstance sign anything that states this amount(#700k) is the full and final payment
3 : Sue the MF, not only for the 5%, include Costs, Interest charged at the Current CB rate
4 : Be ready to wait it out and see this to the end, the MF is counting on you to give up and settle. STAND YOUR GROUND
5 : Talk to a lawyer before you do this and if you get the go ahead, publicize this using any medium, including names etc., let
the world know this MF cannot be trusted.
6 : Longshot it might seem, but hopefully you might be able to get judgement against him or the property itself.
(We might have to chat offline for pointers about going after the property)

I actually was not going to add to this thread, but it seems that a large percentage of the advise you are getting, rather than encourage you, are geared towards discouraging you. You need to understand that the world is your oyster, your future is what you make of it, be it in the petroleum industry or otherwise. I won't tell what to do, but you need to understand that the school does not make you a great engineer, you do.
The ranking of the school is not relevant in the large scheme of things, if you are good at what you do, you'll always rise to the top. I have friends who are unemployed and unemployable that went to Harvard and Imperial. One of our employees went to Notre-Dame and her direct manager never finished high school but worked his way up through the ranks. So note, you are what you make yourself, also note that nothing beats doing what makes you happy.
