My dearest Nairalanders I need your help and advice.

A little background about myself. I am a young girl of 21. Studying at one of the prestigious universities in Nigeria and currently in 300L. Is it weird that I have zero to no social media presence like people of my age. People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them Its been years I visited my Facebook and Instagram accounts, I find it boring and not interesting atall. I don't even have the apps on my phone anymore though I still have the passwords but zero urge to visit those sites. I still take pictures, infact I love taking pictures but I just store them in my google photos, no urge to share on social media at all. Sometimes I share on my Whatsapp status which has my family (Mom, Dad and siblings) alone as contacts. My roommate thinks am making a big mistake and may not get a good guy as a partner since I also rarely go out. I really wish I can change and post more or even become more active on social media but I just love my privacy and being anonymous.

Please those who are more experienced on these things should advice me, am I losing so much by being invisible Online? Offline I am very outgoing and have no problems communicating with people and friends but Online is something else.

The Careless Lives Of Believers Today

Very unfortunately, there are believers who are still ignorant of the signs playing right before their eyes today. Many believers confess sins everyday but still remain sinners and refuse to truly practice holiness. Some postpone their repentance, others refuse to restitute what was stolen, others are so lost in the activities and business of this world and sin has become very rampant today.

Jesus is weeping cause of this as he knows his coming is very near and most believers are sleeping in their sins forgetting that they don't belong to this world. They are only passing through it.

If we are true Christians, we won't fit in with the world because we will be very different from it. We won't be attending nightclubs, drinking and partying away our time, we won't be engaged in a sexual relationship with someone who isn't our husband or wife, we won't be preaching messages about peace, prosperity and blessings over repentance, holiness and truthfulness, we won't be caught gambling away our money or at the prostitutes' hotel, we won't wake up nor go to bed without praying to God, we won't be found with stolen items or forged certificates, we won't covet our neighbours car, house, husband or wife, we won't be found on body revealing dresses, we won't be taken by peer pressure or seek the validation of any ungodly company, we won't be found gossiping or sowing discord amongst people, we won't be doing the works or having the lust of the devil because we're true Christians called out of the world by God to serve Him.

We shouldn't put our hopes or trust in any pastor or spiritual leader as our salvation is personal. It is our actions, appearance and way of life that will determine our eternal destiny and putting our trusts in any spiritual leader is very risky. Remember what the Bible tells us.

"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans." Psalm 118:8

"This is what the Lord says: 'Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.'" Jeremiah 17:5

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6.

As Christians, we need to have a personal understanding of who Jesus is and a personal relationship with him as that is the only way we can be saved by him. Coming through someone else is a disaster waiting to be born.

The end is here and we can see it, we need to prepare ourselves everyday in order to make it with the others who will be saved as the Bible say "him that endures till the end shall be saved."

I’m a Christian and I totally disagree with this! God doesn’t care about the outward appearance of a person, as long as it doesn’t lead anyone to sin (and I don’t think any of those hairstyles u mentioned can lead anyone to sin).

No. God also cares about the outward appearance of the church - his people who he has chosen to serve him. You can't dress as you like a believer. You need to appear modest, decent and pure at all times before the eyes of God. Believe me when I say this that God is very concerned about your outward appearance both male and female likewise.

Jesus didn't eradicate the law but fulfilled it. God's word never changes. In the Bible, specifically in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says in Matthew 5:17 (ESV): "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." This emphasizes Jesus's fulfillment of the Old Testament law rather than abolishing it."

And moreover God also cares about your body. Remember Romans 12:1 (ESV) states: "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."

This is about what some religions teaches their members not what is found in the Bible, what God's word teaches believers is that we make sure our dressing and grooming doesn't go to the extreme so that we won't distract the person we're preaching to we our fashion and style hence making them focus on our looks instead of paying rapt attention to the message. Christianity by truth isn't a religion but a lifestyle. Going to the church alone saves no one but by total obedience of the Bible's instructions. Your bodily appearance matters so much to God as his own. You belong to him and must imitate and give glory to him through your body, even your dressing.

Leviticus 19:27 (NIV): "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."

This talks about God condemning shaving off the hair at the corners of your head - shaving off the corners of the head only to leave the middle high is rejected by God. Will God speak just to fill the space? He stated this in order for those who claim to serve him to adjust. He said it because he is concerned about it.

Moreover in the new testament, we were warned

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them." 1 John 2:15

Loving the world is by imitating what they do even in the slightest. From how they speak, to how they dress, to what they admire and to their various practices. Those styles speak about the world and are cherished by them thereby makes them to be an abomination to God automatically.

You have an immortal spirit which abides in you and is you indeed not the fleshy structure you see everyday. The answer to your deep question is founded in the Bible dear friend. A lot of people smarter than you and I got their conviction about this truth and never looked back again. It is sinful because of it's origin and the worldly appreciation of it. You need to understand that God will never be united with the world and him choosing you automatically makes you a social misfit with the world. We cannot fit in with the world as a true Christian whom God has called because even Christ himself never fitted in with the world when he was on earth. He was treated like an outcast because of his different way of thinking, living and his teachings. If you follow him truly, you cannot be loved by the world or fit in with it. There will be major differences between you and the world around you from how you dress yourself, how you reason and how you live.

Besides, those scriptural verses I highlighted in the original post condemned those haircuts and you know that this isn't from me but from God who spoke through his word concerning his mind towards it.

No. As a true believer in Jesus, a low and even trimming of the hair is acceptable without total balding or carving (shaping) of the edges of the head or beard. Anything more than this is condemnable according to the Bible. It may be a hard message but it is the truth my friend.

Do you ever consider at this time we are that God is very concerned about how we dress ourselves as his children, right from the very hair on our heads to the sole of our feet?

God is very interested in your appearance if truly you belong to him and he seeks your total obedience to his word he has given us. Here are some of the things God said to us in the Bible.

He said;

The very "world" the Bible is making reference to are the ungodly things we find around us. From the latest trends to the latest fashion, to the new gadgets, to the glorified beauty norms and products and even to the lifestyle of the world, Our jealous God doesn't want us in any form to be one with them. Thus, he gave us those instructions.

Loving the world and the things in it only brings enmity and separation from God. As followers of his word, we need to understand this and make our adjustments where necessary if we ever desire to be where he is. This may be hard for us to accept but it is necessary and rewarding to our souls. By the guidance and support of the Holy Spirit, we shall conquer all there is to conquer.

Thereby, the issue of hairstyle comes in. What manner of hairstyle do you (if you have a good level of discernment) think Jesus had when he was alive here on earth? What manner of hairstyle do you believe the apostles and godly women in those days put on? If you are a honest person within yourself, you will know that it definitely has no resemblance with the arrogant and lustful appearance of today.

I'm speaking about hairstyles such as

1. Afro, Fade, Galaxy, Phunk, Sports Waves and the like

As true believers in Christ, the names of these haircuts are supposed to irritate us alone compared to wearing them. They give the vibe of worldliness and canality and do not speak of or glorify God at all. Their design is of the ungodly world of which God himself is enemy to and shouldn't be put on, practiced or admired by anyone who claims to belong to him.

Remember Leviticus 19:27 (NIV): "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."

This scripture emphasizes on the detestable appearance of hairstyles which involves the cutting of the hair at the sides of the head such as those mentioned above. Most boys and men alike today act contrary to this verse by cutting the corners of their hair and leaving the middle to be full. This will only bring God's judgment upon us as we are being disobedient to his word in that verse. You may feel, "this is far stretched and insignificant today" or "it applies to only a specific set of people".

Dear friend, it applies to all God's children. God doesn't seek half obedience or service but a total of our personality ranging from the heart, to the mind and even our bodily appearance. You need to accept this message as many has fallen and been judged because of it.

2. Attachments, Tinting, relaxing, stretching and perming of the hair:

1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV): "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."

1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NIV): "I also want the women to dress modestly, with DECENCY AND PROPRIETY, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."

A deep research on the origin of these things will reveal that these things are from the ungodly world and the devil, not from the Father who chose us. They are the vices of the devil to trap as many women as he can to fall with him to destruction and putting them on will make this a reality for you when you leave this world.

The Bible urges women to be decent in their appearance as God wants there to be a stark difference in appearance between his own daughters and that of the world which by design tinting, relaxing, perming and attachments to the hair won't give. Yes dear reader, this is true though you may be told otherwise, accept the truth and make adjustments where necessary as a daughter of the Lord you are - to be natural in your appearance as he had created you. Keeping your hair long, neat and well dressed without any forms of artificial beauty attached to it. You're beautiful in the eyes of the Lord just the way you are and making artificial changes to your appearance will only separate you from God and puts you up for his judgment.

Romans 12:1 (NIV): "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

These verses highlight the distinction between believers and the world, emphasizing the challenges and choices faced by those seeking to live in accordance with their faith.

The very "world" the Bible is making reference to are the ungodly things we find around us. From the latest trends to the latest fashion, to the new gadgets, to the glorified beauty norms and products and even to the lifestyle of the world, Our jealous God doesn't want us in any form to be one with them. Thus, he gave us those instructions.

Loving the world and the things in it only brings enmity and separation from God. As followers of his word, we need to understand this and make our adjustments where necessary if we ever desire to be where he is. This may be hard for us to accept but it is necessary and rewarding to our souls. By the guidance and support of the Holy Spirit, we shall conquer all there is to conquer.

Thereby, the issue of hairstyle comes in. What manner of hairstyle do you (if you have a good level of discernment) think Jesus had when he was alive here on earth? What manner of hairstyle do you believe the apostles and godly women in those days put on? If you are a honest person within yourself, you will know that it definitely has no resemblance with the arrogant and lustful appearance of today.

I'm speaking about hairstyles such as

1. Afro, Fade, Galaxy, Phunk, Sports Waves and the like

As true believers in Christ, the names of these haircuts are supposed to irritate us alone compared to wearing them. They give the vibe of worldliness and canality and do not speak of or glorify God at all. Their design is of the ungodly world of which God himself is enemy to and shouldn't be put on, practiced or admired by anyone who claims to belong to him.

Remember Leviticus 19:27 (NIV): "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."

This scripture emphasizes on the detestable appearance of hairstyles which involves the cutting of the hair at the sides of the head such as those mentioned above. Most boys and men alike today act contrary to this verse by cutting the corners of their hair and leaving the middle to be full. This will only bring God's judgment upon us as we are being disobedient to his word in that verse. You may feel, "this is far stretched and insignificant today" or "it applies to only a specific set of people".

Dear friend, it applies to all God's children. God doesn't seek half obedience or service but a total of our personality ranging from the heart, to the mind and even our bodily appearance. You need to accept this message as many has fallen and been judged because of it.

2. Attachments, Tinting, relaxing, stretching and perming of the hair:

1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV): "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."

1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NIV): "I also want the women to dress modestly, with DECENCY AND PROPRIETY, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."

A deep research on the origin of these things will reveal that these things are from the ungodly world and the devil, not from the Father who chose us. They are the vices of the devil to trap as many women as he can to fall with him to destruction and putting them on will make this a reality for you when you leave this world.

The Bible urges women to be decent in their appearance as God wants there to be a stark difference in appearance between his own daughters and that of the world which by design tinting, relaxing, perming and attachments to the hair won't give. Yes dear reader, this is true though you may be told otherwise, accept the truth and make adjustments where necessary as a daughter of the Lord you are - to be natural in your appearance as he had created you. Keeping your hair long, neat and well dressed without any forms of artificial beauty attached to it. You're beautiful in the eyes of the Lord just the way you are and making artificial changes to your appearance will only separate you from God and puts you up for his judgment.

Romans 12:1 (NIV): "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

Have you ever considered what happens when a man dies with unsettled debts before God?

Today, we will be discussing about what happens when a man dies with unconfessed fraud and what the Lord says.

In today's society, yahoo fraud has eaten deep into the lives of many youths, handy workers overcharged their customers and some office holders overpriced the amounts needed for a good or service. Sons and daughters lie to their parents and falsely increase the amount needed for shopping, school fees or purchase of items. Business men and women lie to their customers about the price of a commodity in order to make more profit. All to make more money.

Nevertheless, this is a very important factor that will make them lose their eternity with God as God is not in support of their actions. Though they may see it as the norm or something insignificant but this isn't the case in the eyes of God.

I'll be blunt with you, if you don't cease from this deception and confess them before you die, you'll end up with the devil and demons in the flames of hell as the thoughts of deception is not from God but from the wicked hearts of men and the devil.

God expects whatever deal you engage in to be totally honest and pure. Even the least act of fraudulence will condemn a man's entire soul for all eternity. He is God who created you and I and believe me when I say that God is concerned with every little thing about you whom he has created and will judge every tiniest form of sin which you harbour in your heart.

These scriptures emphasize the biblical stance against dishonesty, theft and fraudulent practices and the importance of honesty, integrity, and fair dealings, while condemning fraudulent practices.

When a scammer lies to a client and cons them of their hard earned money, he has not only done something morally unacceptable but have also disobeyed God himself and for this God's judgment will come upon him. His actions won't be forgotten unless he confesses them to whomever he has offended and restitutes accordingly.

It takes a wicked heart with a smeared conscience to defraud another person. It is a sign of greed, covetousness, impatience, conformity with sin and lack of self control. It is the embodiment of wickedness. If you are a christian or a believer who does this, you are to make corrections before you die - before time eludes you.

If you are owing any of your workers who worked for you or anyone who you borrowed from earlier, be wise enough to pay them back as God will not forgive your soul when you are no more on earth and what excuse or replacement can you give for your soul?

"Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor." - Romans 13:7 (NIV)

"The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously." - Psalm 37:21 (NIV)

If you postpone your repentance, the demon of forgetfulness will come upon you in order to secure your downfall. The right time to make corrections my dear reader is now. For many this might be a hard teaching to accept but as man who was created by God, you need to understand who God is and what he detests if you ever want to be where he is.

This truth will only save you if you accept it wholly and make corrections where necessary. Do not overlook this or lean unto your own understanding as that will only give you a false sense of comfort and a false hope from the evil one who has desperately hated you from the beginning.

You know, ever since you were born, you knew very little except what you observed from around you. The devil and his servants sought to catch your attention and your very soul from that young age so that you'll grow adapting to the lifestyle of sin and become stuck in your sinful ways when you reach adulthood which will make it very difficult for you to re-create yourself to that which pleases God. And from a huge observation, he has succeeded in the lives of most people. Most people don't even think or reason within themselves anymore. They find this very difficult to do. They rather follow those who they look up to around them, seeking their acceptance and believing this is the way to live.

Here are some of the weaknesses of struggling believers today



1. They want to serve God and also serve the world at the same time

God and the world are never one. Trying to please God and the world is like trying to hold water in a basket. It is unachievable and will only frustrate your journey to holiness as "no one can be a slave of two masters; he will hate one and love the other; he will be loyal to one and despise the other." Matthew 6:24

2. They care about the validation of unbelievers around them


Most believers are afraid to be the black sheep among their circle. They are afraid to be ostracized by others who look up to them. This is one of the biggest weaknesses of most believers as they can never achieve holiness according to God's standard as their validation comes from other sinners and not from God who dwells in them. "Does this sound as if I am trying to win human approval? No indeed! What I want is God's approval! Am I trying to be popular with people? If I were still trying to do so, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10.

3. They care too much about worldly success

The mindset our flawed churches and most believers is fixated on material success and accomplishments. The goal of most believers is to attain that position, lead the people around them, own that car or house, keep up with the latest trends, e.t.c. which all stems from public acceptance and validation. This type of mindset will hardly seek or accept the truth which will lead to inner emptiness and eventually God's judgment. “Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal." Mathew 6:19

4. They feel intimidated by the truth and don't want to reflect or discuss it

The truth shakes the very core of most believers in its bitter glory. This makes many of them to reject or even ignore it completely in hope that they eventually escape judgment. They choose to be ignorant in order to have a false reality of bliss and comfort the devil presents to them. They forget that the truth can uplift them, protect them from the evil one, improve their soul, generate wisdom and insight and even make them formidable christians. "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

5. They postpone their genuine repentance and salvation

They forcefully convince themselves of a future grace to amend their ways and be saved but this is not guaranteed as this future grace they hope on is nothing but a deceitful lie from their enemy the devil. He intends to distract them so that when their time comes, they will be unprepared and fall. “When the time came for me to show you favour, I heard you; when the day arrived for me to save you,  I helped you.”Listen! This is the hour to receive God's favour; today is the day to be saved!." 2 Corinthians 6:2

6. They use false logic to analyze the truth

The logic some believers interpret the truth with is flawed but they may not realize due to the lack of deep understanding of the scriptures and the message God directs to them. This is a great weakness as they base the very foundation of their christian journey on this false logic and most don't realize this flaw until they are no more. "]Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know." Proverbs 3:5

7. They look up to the wrong people for guidance


We as living beings possess intuition which God has given to us to perceive, reason and understand but some believers hardly ponder on deep things but rather spend their time celebrating with others ignoring their inner selves. They leave the thinking to their spiritual leaders who they rely on for spiritual guidance but the problem with this is that true leaders from God are very rare in population so they unknowingly trust in their spiritual leaders who themselves are fake but charismatic. “Don't worry about them! They are blind leaders of the blind; and when one blind man leads another, both fall into a ditch.” Matthew 15:14

Do we really want the truth?

As a person, you are a spirit being who will live forever. You can reason, you can self reflect, you have emotions, you possess intelligence, you can tell that there is a higher power and that the world doesn't just come to exist by itself. Everything you see around you didn't come to exist by accident. A higher power appears to control the activities we know we can't control. The body which you abide in will be left here to decay while your soul - the real you will be taken either to eternal glory or to eternal punishment.

As a spirit who come from God, you have the power to be truly holy just as God whom you came from. But due to the fleshy desires and the polluted world you live in, this will be more challenging especially when you didn't truly seek God from a very young age. The absence of God's teachings in your early days when you knew little made your more sinful personality as an adult to be more challenging to overcome making you to feel stuck in sin with little to no way out, but there is hope. Before our Lord Jesus left, he promised to send us the helper who will bring us closer to God - the Holy Spirit. When you admit your sins, genuinely repent and forsake them, he will come to you and abide in you and God shall dwell in your heart, the center of your thoughts, values and actions thereby enabling you to serve him in true holiness.

True holiness is very achievable but it mostly depends on you, the receiver. Not everyone can accept the truth wholeheartedly. They will select the parts they want and ignore the other even when they know deep down of it's validity. As a true believer called by God who intends to please him, you shouldn't hide away from the truth from God - the word which he has left behind for your guidance - the very Bible you possess and the pure messages you receive by other believers around you.

This truth may first bring about depression, fear or uncertainty but will eventually make you bounce far stronger than you were before. It will fill you with life and uplift you to the extent others will perceive your upliftment without you ever telling them. You'll be a trendsetter of the gospel of God and people will consciously or subconsciously take cues from you on how to live a pure life before God. You'll be respected without demanding, even revered by other believers.

Due to your upliftment in personality and holiness, you will have a love - hate relationship with people. You'll be rejected by those who are fake and dwell in their iniquities. You'll be treated as an outsider by even those close to you but you won't feel sad about it because your validation comes from the lord who dwells within you and not from fellow people. You have become chosen by God and a channel for his glory in the world.

At your last day, you will look back at your life and smile within yourself knowing that your existence in the world was of value to God. You shall sleep and awake with the Lord who has been with you and will reign with him where he is in everlasting happiness and accomplishment.

There are many benefits of being holy which you can never access as long as you abide in the bubble of sin around you. You have to take the step into the light, be destroyed and re-created by God. There is no other way dear believer. If you desire to be holy, you must;

1. Acknowledge your weaknesses and your sins
2. Reject them completely and seek God with all your heart
3. Request forgiveness from Jesus and surrendering your totalty to him
4. Accepting your new life
5. Habitual studying and application of the Bible
6. Saving others around you
7. Recognizing your gifts and using them to God's will.
