Politics / The Battle To Succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu; Abians Shine Your Eyes by PapaAlpha: 7:04pm On May 21, 2022
From concerned citizens of Abia State...."ABIANS, SHINE YOUR EYES".

The battle is on, who takes the baton to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is imminent. Therefore, all Abians should keep their PVCs which give them the right to choose who governs them. The days of sweeping our concerns under the carpet are gone, as such what Abia State needs at this time is a tested administrator capable of turning things around.

The way forward is for Abians to reject weak governance as it's a driver of disaster risk, and is linked to many other risk drivers such as poverty, inequality, poorly planned Urban development, and globalized economic development.

We need total restoration of the core Values of good governance such as Health and social services, peace and development, Infrastructural development, Environmental management and local administration and governance.

To accomplish these core values, we have to "call a Spade a Spade" and make good choices of who we vote for in the 2023 Abia State Governorship election and in General. To help us identify the people who have boxed us into a place of despair is paramount at this point so we can have respite in Abia State again. There’s anger, there’s anxiety, and there’s age-long resentment and this is the time to "shine our eyes" and watch out the people on the list as appeared below:

LISTS OF ABIA STATE 2023 GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANTS WE SHOULD NEVER VOTE FOR BECAUSE OF THEIR BAGGAGE.

1. Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne:

Professor Ikonne is from Agburuike-Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North, Umunneato. First and foremost, Professor Ikonne is not a politician in the real sense of the word "Politician". He is bereft of electoral values given his records of service at both Abia polytechnic and Abia state University, Uturu where he was both the Rector and the Vice Chancellor.

Apparently, there's no doubt that the professor of optometry is an accomplished academic but describing him as an astute administrator will offend the sensibilities of many, especially his former workers who went home without salaries of between 7 and 12 months while he was in charge.

Describing him as a liberal man will enrage those who hail from outside the Ngwa enclave. This is a man who reserved admission spaces for medicine and law for only Ngwa candidates when he was the VC of Abia state University. A clannish man like that can never win an election outside Ngwa land.

Worstill, Professor Ikonne has been a regular guest at the EFCC for years, the officials are wondering why Abians cannot find a decent man to present as its candidate outside the one with such baggage. Indeed the opposition is ready with a long list of litigations should the unthinkable happen that Ikonne scales through the primaries.

"So , it’s not such a question as to why people don’t like him but what the man has done with the little offices he held in the past. When he was pressuring to be reappointed as VC,there was a donation of two hundred million naira to Ikpeazu when salaries had not been paid and was never paid. Can someone who prioritises personal aggrandizement above collective welfare of the staff be ever trusted with state duties and resources?"

To this end, the Professor is not trusted to be our next Governor. We see him as an imposition, that way, "we must shine our eyes". We don’t want to talk about his age since we all pray to attain old age one day in life. But can a 71 year old man withstand the rigours of office of the governor? Certainly not, so we should never vote this old man who needs to retire to his village and enjoy the rest of his life with his village people.

2. ENYINNANYA ABARIBE.

In fact, if there's a voice so firm and loud against the marginalization of Ndigbo, then it is that of Senator Abaribe, yet he has regrettable been enmeshed in a wide speculation that he is involved in some separatist movement and has done little or nothing to show for his long years of serving as Abia Senator. He is overrated by his cronies and talks more than he can do. Do not be deceived!!!

3. Enyinnaya Nwafor.

It is only in Nigeria that we have people who should be doing their time in Prison would boldly contest an elective post as sensitive as a governor of a state that has the seal of the state. Enyinnanya Nwafor is said to be a subject of investigation over failed contracts and alleged fraud. As a matter of fact, that Abia roads are in a deplorable state is the handwork of Enyinnaya Nwafor and some roads topping the list include the Unuaro/Ekwereazu road in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state. We can recall that the incumbent Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu had recently ordered the contractors back to site after some portions of the road failed. The present Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and all the concerned citizens of Abian had expressed anger over the poor construction done on the road, which is currently the only route in and out of Aba from Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers State, due to complete failure of the construction owned by Enyinnanya Nwafor. He is infamous with the use of substandard materials for the construction of roads that were awarded to him and he is known to be a regular visitor to the police station and EFCC over his serial fraudulent and corrupt practices.

4. Chima Anyaso.

He is the owner of CEECON Energy, According to reports making rounds, Chima Anyaso was charged before a Federal high court sitting in Lagos on a three count charge bordering on forgery and more than two billion naira fraud. Abians don't need these types of men who have tossed away their conscience in pursuit of their selfish and greedy accumulation of wealth. Chima perpetuated the worst form of treachery against his bank, GTB, and if he can do that then he is likely to sell the seal of Abia state to anyone who is ready to buy the state from him if elected into power. He was believed to have forged another letterhead paper of Total Nigeria Limited with reference number FEB/YJO,fin22.11, which he presented to GTB for the payment of more than two billion naira to him for the supply of 15 Metric tonnes of ATK.

In summary, it is very important for the people of Abia state to vote wisely and "shine their eyes" when they cast their votes so that we can elect a good, young and vibrant Governor who will drive the vehicle of change that will make a difference and will run an all inclusive government that will give everyone in Abia state right to speak and right to security and good life.

COPIED.....Concerned Citizens of Abia States.
