No politician in power send opposition.
Even Trump go do same. The only difference is that the US have strong democratic practises.
It is left for the opposition to get their acts right.

He and his followers pushing him must understand that people especially in the North will die for what they believe in.
Don't play with democracy, some people will die to protect it. They die for less important causes.
You can't win this fight, you're not fighting a just cause. You're fighting with your money while people are fighting with their hearts and souls for what they believe in and think is right.
If the people don't want you, leave power and give it a rest.
The South doesn't support you, and you have lost the partnership you had with the North.
Let it rest. Think about the ones coming after you that will be victims of your reckless selfish decisions.
If trouble starts you can't just say "ok let's go back to where things were", you don't get to decide when it ends.
Think about foreign countries and actors who take advantage of conflicts as contractors and mercenaries.
