Christianity EtcRe: Who Says That Catholic Doctrines Are Not Biblical by pauledwards: 9:42pm On Jan 16, 2015
asalimpo:
idolatary is unscriptural.
Correct, that is why the catechism of the catholic church says:

"Idolatry consists in divinizing what is not God. Man commits idolatry whenever he honors and reveres a creature in place of God, whether this be gods or demons (for example, satanism), power, pleasure, race, ancestors, the state, money, etc. Jesus says, "You cannot serve God and mammon."44 Many martyrs died for not adoring "the Beast"45 refusing even to simulate such worship. Idolatry rejects the unique Lordship of God; it is therefore incompatible with communion with God.46"(2113)

Themandator:
Catholic Church is a non no... Explain why everyone is not entitled to the blood during communion.
That's is not true, everyone receives Christ's blood because " the whole Christ is contained under each form and under every part of each form when separated" (council of trent, session XIII canon 3).

Not everyone has to receive communion under both kinds (species of bread and wine) because of this in order to receive Christ's blood and also because, while Jesus says to his priests to receive under both kinds (Matthew 26:26-27), many times when talking to ordinary people he referred to communion under one kind saying "I am the living bread which has come from heaven" (john 6:51) and "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35).

The distinction comes from Christ's own words
Christianity EtcRe: How Old Is Your Church? Was Martin Luther or Pope Leo X The Anti-Christ? by pauledwards: 7:20pm On Jan 16, 2015
Regarding the mistakes made by some bad priests, Judas Iscariot is proof that the original church founded by Jesus would have evil people in its hierarchy. Peter also cut a man's ear of, but the system under him was still the one true church founded by Christ.

Regarding indulgences, selling them was an abuse, no pope directly sold them but only once indirectly but some bad priests sold them. The infallible teaching authority of the Catholic Church (ie council of trent) never aloud the selling of indulgences but only indulgences themselves. In fact regarding the abuses relating to indulgences the Council said "But desiring that the abuses which have become connected with them, and by reason of which this excellent name of indulgences is blasphemed by the heretics, be amended and corrected it ordains in a general way by the present decree that all evil traffic in them, which has been a most prolific source of abuses among the Christian people, be absolutely abolished.[85]"

Jesus gave his Church the power to grant indulgences saying "what you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven"(matthew 18:18). An indulgence is to be 'loosed' from the temporal punishment due to sin.
