maclatunji: I have taken time to engage the IPOB-inspired Biafran agitators whose propaganda is often also expressed by some Igbo contributors to radio phone-in programmes and there is a trend.
They are quick to list their perceived 'injustices' against Igbos and the Southeast as justification for their agitation. Meanwhile, they fail to realize that their agitation is likely to make the condition of the people they claim to be fighting for worse.
Let us say Nnamdi Kanu was not initially caught when he sneaked into Nigeria and was successful with his agenda to raise agitation in the Southeast. Depending on how successful he would have been, hundreds to thousands of people would have died in the region and there still would be no Biafra. Don't forget, this is not 1967 where a regional system exists and neither are we having military rule where some Southeastern officer can seek to commandeer troops in a secession bid. Any attempt to raise the issue of secession is just a call for suffering on the people of the Southeast. Whatever suffering you might think you are experiencing now will be like paradise to a conflict situation.
I am sure some responder would quickly type- 'we want a referendum like the United Kingdom held for Scotland.' My reaction- stop engaging in dubious analysis and postulations.
The legal framework and political structure of the United Kingdom with its constituent nations is not the same as Nigeria. The Nigerian constitution does not give any window for separation or secession including a referendum. Even insisting on one will still in all likelihood lead to trouble.
So, instigating trouble and getting people in harm's way is not going to help the Southeast and no foreign country will do anything tangible about it too. Their interests are firmly with Nigeria not a rag-tag bunch of secessionist agitators too closely aligned to a discredited Jonathan administration.
Harsh? Well, you need a reality check before you get people killed for nothing.
Op threats don't work anymore
Everything in your post is that if the igbos decided to secede their will be war and the igbos will loss.

Guyman02: It is a media battle between the Yorubas who have controlled the media for years and Igbos who are coming on strong to have a huge chunk in the media propaganda too.
After the civil war, the Federal Govt declared 'Abandoned properties' as war booty for the victors. Surprisingly while Awolowo encouraged the South South people to seize Biafrans properties as war booty to create enmity between them and the Igbos, the properties of Ndigbo were returned to them in his Yorubaland. The North also returned properties owned by returning Igbos. While the South South were busy scrambling over Igbo abandoned properties, the North and Yoruba officials shared out Oil blocks in the South South to themselves. While the North got majority of the Oil blocks the Yorubas were appointed as managers of the petroleum sector because of their educational advantage. Thats why for instance Alakija who used to be a tailor is today the richest woman in Africa from her Oil block allocation while the women in South South are still living in squalor with their waters polluted and making it difficult for them to even catch enough fishes to sell for sustenance.
One of the South South leading women (Diezani Alison-Madueke) who benefited from their God given oil and by virtue of her marriage to an Igbo man is being hounded by Yoruba led media assault on corruption charges and accused of stealing more than Nigerias total annual budget while all the Yorubas like Femi Otedola Mike Adenuga etc involved in the oil subsidy scam etc are roaming free because they succeeded in scuttling the National Assembly probe into their nefarious activities.
Nnamdi Kanu has used his media to open the eyes of the youths in the Niger Delta and the center can no longer hold. Igbos will continue to defend Diezani (Charly Boy can continue with his Mumu protests against her) from corruption allegations until Yorubas, Hausas and Fulanis who have controlled the oil industry are equally indicted. The Igbos will not continue to standby while our neighbours in the South South leave in squalor while all the resources come from their land and they expect us to join them in persecuting Patience Jonathan or Diezani (no way)!
Nairaland provides a platform for part of the media battle and very soon the real South South youths will merge with Igbos when they realize that the marginalized Igbos are not their enemies and as they continue to get wiser against the Yorubas manipulation.
We shall continue to write and counter them on Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter, Yahoo, Punch, vanguard readers comments, Blogs etc. It is a battle of intellect and no violence will be permitted like happens in the North.
