PetsRe: Pet Owners In Nigeria, What’s Your Biggest Struggle Right Now? by Pawsibu(op):
We initially thought pricing was the biggest issue.

But from what we’re seeing so far, trust might actually be the main problem.

We’ve heard cases where someone bought a pet thinking it was healthy… and only found out later that something was wrong.

Situations like that are actually more common than people think.

In Lagos especially, you can get 3 completely different prices for the same service just by asking 3 different people.

No structure at all.

The trust issue is actually bigger than it looks.

One thing we’ve noticed is that most pet owners don’t really have a system.

It’s usually just:
“This person worked before, let me call them again.”

It works… until it doesn’t.

Lowkey, a lot of people don’t realize how risky some pet-related transactions are until something goes wrong.

Especially when money is involved.
PetsPet Owners In Nigeria, What’s Your Biggest Struggle Right Now? by Pawsibu(op):
Hello everyone.

We’ve been looking closely at the pet space in Nigeria, and one thing keeps coming up: everything is scattered.

If you own a pet or you are a breeder, you probably understand this:

You buy a pet from one person, get accessories somewhere else, find a vet through referrals, and you’re just hoping you didn’t get scammed or misled.

There’s no real structure.

Most things are just trial and error.

We’re working on Pawsibu to fix this — a platform to bring everything pet-related into one place (services, buying/selling, accessories, etc.).

But before we go too far, we want to hear from real pet owners.

👉 What has honestly been your biggest challenge?

* Finding a trusted pet service?
* Buying or selling pets safely?
* Getting quality supplies?

No filters — good or bad experiences.

PetsHow To Keep Pets Safe During A Hot Weather, Prevent Heat Stroke by Pawsibu(op): 4:01pm On Feb 03
Hot weather can be dangerous for pets because they overheat faster than humans. Heat stroke is a serious risk, but it is also preventable with the right care.

Always provide plenty of clean, cool water. Refill bowls often and place them in shaded areas. Dehydration happens quickly in hot weather, especially for dogs and cats that spend time outdoors.

Limit outdoor activity during peak heat. Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower. Avoid hot pavement because it can burn paws. A simple rule is if the ground is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your pet.

Provide shade and good airflow. Pets should never be left in parked cars, even for a few minutes. Indoor pets need proper ventilation and, if possible, fans or air conditioning.

Groom pets appropriately. Regular brushing helps remove excess fur and improves airflow to the skin. Do not shave pets unless advised by a vet, since fur can also protect them from sunburn.

Watch for warning signs of heat stroke. These include heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool place immediately, offer small amounts of water, and contact a veterinarian.

Special care is needed for puppies, kittens, older pets, and overweight animals. With simple precautions and close attention, you can keep your pets safe, comfortable, and healthy during hot weather.

Yes, but not always. Cats can kill snakes, especially small or non-venomous ones, using speed and sharp reflexes. But it’s risky, venomous snakes can seriously injure or kill cats. Not all cats will attack snakes, and many will avoid them. Cats are not snake hunters anyway, so it’s more about their instinct and curiosity than skill or nature.

While dogs can understand certain commands in human languages, they cannot create meanings from those words. Hence, they cannot understand human conversation.
