New Zealand does conduct interviews for some applicants.
The truth of the matter is if you are applying a second time, best to work with a paid License Immigration Adviser based in New Zealand that’s the advise the Indians give - these guys will tell you upfront whether you should pocket your application money or try again, after you’ve paid them, of course.

Base on my little understanding and research. I don’t think there is an age limit for PhD education. By extension, I don’t think there is age limit for PSWP

1. The money from sales of property has to be in the account for 3 - 6 months before applying. (Applies to other sources of funds too) i.e. proof of funds, if it dips due to forex, top it up and put an explainer in your cover letter.

2. They want evidence of where you got the money for tuition and living costs where X - tuition fees and Y - NZ$25,000 for 120 units/1 Year or NZ$35,000 for 180 Units / 18 months. So if the money is in your account for 3 - 6 months, they will overlook sales of property as source of income (there are other sources of income)

3. Jeje just look for a 120 units course to do that is relevant to work experience and/or first degree or if you are doing a career change. (your cover letter or SoP will need to justify this). Doing a 120 units course removes the need for a funding plan letter for the remainder of your program for instance.

4. You can submit any currency statement account (NGN, USD, GBP, EURO, NZ$ etc.), but they said it is recommended to use one bank statement for ease of authenticaion.

I aim to start the application process soon. I am registering for IELTS tomorrow and I have some few questions for you. I am going in for a Masters in Either one of Environmental conservation or Masters of Park Management, in Lincoln University.

1. Most programs in Lincoln have their next start date as February 2026. Does this mean that there are no September intakes in New Zealand?

2. If there are September intakes, can you suggest one or two Universities in Regional areas for me?

3. For the POF, do I need to have the complete $20k living expenses, $57k school fees and ~$5k all in my account before I can get approval? I mean, I may be able to get the school fees of 30k for the first year and use POF guys for the living expenses but that's about it.

4. Do you advise for a 1 year masters instead of the 2years I am considering? My target is in the Environmental protection/conservation and wildlife field which I have a bsc already in.

5. I have a master's from a Nigerian University already. Do I need to state this anywhere in my application or just bin it? I am going for a masters still.

Since you have masters, why don’t you apply for PhD?

Also, if the graduation date of your masters degree is not more than 3 years, some of the uni if not all, will exempt you from IELTS

Yes. I just saw the data. The number of approvals for Nigeria is not up to 150 student visa approval since 2022.

Most of the persons that did AIP had a video interview. In other cases, Video Interview had to do with documentation. In a particular AIP, the interview took 35 minutes and AIP was approved the next day.

In my opinion, AIP requires that you have all the money - living cost + Ticket money + Tuition fees present, then you do the usual documentation gathering for the study visa application, then submit the documents + bank statement showing all the total costs. If successful you’re given 5 days (or 10 days, or you may ask for an extension due to unforeseen circumstances) to pay your tuition fees and submit your tuition fee receipt either from the school or the third-party platform you used to pay - I’m not too sure which of the receipts you would need. From my research there may be a video interview.
But AIP is used mostly by the top five countries whose students apply to New Zealand.

Is the video interview for everyone or for those that want to seek the AIP route?

If you are using an agent, please follow up like a defender marking a player, also make sure you have access to your school portal profile to ensure that the required documents have been uploaded and that you are at the right stage. Imagine IELTS that I wrote since last week Tuesday, the result has yet to be sent by the agent.

Honestly, you have to follow up with some of the agent and even when they say they have process your request, try to see pictorial evidence.

I guess most of them are busy with lot of candidates.

2. I didn't apply, I was informed by the IDP Agent that I was eligible (the bursary is optional because it comes with T's and C's), I just accepted the bursary offer, that's all.

Good day everyone applying to, intending to apply to or thinking about applying to New Zealand.

I thought about posting my journey after successfully landing in Aotearoa New Zealand, but something told me that was a lack of faith right there! So I shall be sharing my journey to the land of the Kiwi's as it progressess.

I am not a betting man, but I can see Aotearoa New Zealand overtaking many of the popular destinations in the future, that's if you can manage paying the fees in full (not compulsory if you are taking the AIP route - you apply for the visa first and if successful, you then pay the school fees, in full), and taking a two day trip in economy (or business ) class.

Had I know about Aotearoa New Zealand, I wouldn't have wasted money on Canadian study application fees and I would have started preparations earlier, I would have jejely done my IELTS Academic since and kept, (IELTS Academic is compulsory for Aotearoa New Zealand schools - my school required a minimum of 6 across all bands, and a 6.5 overall score) - so yeah you're gonna do that IELTS Academic, its not hard, its just English. At the time of posting this, it costs 266,000.00 Naira for the exam.

For the school fees, I got a hefty bursary of 15,000 NZD (I would have gotten a scholarship but as I didn't take my books seriously I missed it), anyway I said thank you Lord for giving me a sign! So try and see if you can get a scholarship or a bursary, and for this I would recommend using an agent, I used IDP (I hope this is not an advert, I am just sharing the steps I took), they don't charge a dime, you just know what you want to study and that makes the work easier.

I am just thinking aloud though. With 42 million in cash without loan or sponsorship, you should be able to set up a profitable business here in Naija

That 42M probably came from his Nigeria savings or properties at home. You can't be able to pay ur school fees in uk with part time job while schooling.

Talking about whether he will consider moving back home if he recovers the 42M, he already said that himself and his wife joint monthly savings is 500, which is an equivalent of one million naira. What this means is that he needs approximately 4 years to recover that 42M.

Now, would you advice him to return home after the 4yrs? I don't think it's a wise advice. He is currently earning minimum wage, and his wife is not yet working full-time because of their kids, meaning there is a room for an improved earning and savings. The UK holds a better future for them, especially their kids, if they can work hard to improve their status

You spent 42million on japa. If I may ask, why not consider a business in Nigeria with that huge some of money?

Did you have the 42million in cash or you paid some of the money as you are working in the UK?

Will you only consider relocating back home if you at least save the 42million you spent ?

Well i paid over 15000 pounds in school fees and 90% of that money was converted in naira. With the exhange rate its 30 million naira.
I paid house rent for over 4 months and a deposit of one month with naira thats over 7 million.

Flight tickets with my family cost us over 5 million.
