Local government chairmen cant rebel against their governors because they were handpicked by the governors and they are mere stooges. Delta for instance will be conducting local government elections this Saturday without the opposition parties on the ballot. Local government elections have been relegated to a 1 party system and it is just a ceremonial event to mark a false election in Delta state with PDP flagbearers handed chairmanship of local government coincils on a platter of gold.

So how do you expect such figure headed chairmen, who rode smoothly to power under the benevolence of governors to have a say?

The last time buhari tried sending monies directly to local government accounts, governors simply sent a long list of what nots to chairmen who inturn sent a huge chunk of local government funds to the state.

Governors will always have a way of outsmarting the system unless INEC wades into local government elections cuz they have local govt chairmen by their balls. They can hire and fire anyone they so please

Federal govt has not done enough until they make it impossible for governors to hire and fire local government chairmen

Just as federal government cannot sack and distort a sitting state government, governors shouldn't be able to do same to local council bosses

Governor can't fire elected lg chairman they can only fire the caretakers they appoint and having appointed caretaker chairmen is useless now cos the state won't get anything....the Governors have lost there power totally on lg matters.
