No work of arts is new. A creative writer is that person who writes popular letters in a strange way. The purpose of creative writing is to both entertain and share human experience, like love or loss. Writers attempt to get at a truth about humanity through poetics and storytelling. If you'd like to try your hand at creative writing, just keep in mind that whether you are trying to express a feeling or a thought, the first step is to use your imagination. Types of creative writing include: Poetry Plays Movie and television scripts Fiction (novels, novellas, and short stories) Songs, Speeches Memoirs Personal essay. When a book is written and published for intellectual consumption, the moment one can refer to it as a book, that moment, the death of the author has been announced. It may not be in form of a book. It may be in any form. Whether a written or spoken text. When the death of the author is announced, immediately, a reader is born. A French literary thinker argues that Barthes argues against the method of reading and criticism that relies on aspects of the author's identity—their political views, historical context, religion, ethnicity, psychology, or other biographical or personal attributes—to distill meaning from the author's work. In this type of criticism, the experiences and biases of the author serve as a definitive "explanation" of the text. For Barthes, this method of reading may be apparently tidy and convenient but is actually sloppy and flawed: "To give a text an Author" and assign a single, corresponding interpretation to it "is to impose a limit on that text". Readers must thus separate a literary work from its creator in order to liberate the text from interpretive tyranny (a notion similar to Erich Auerbach's discussion of narrative tyranny in Biblical parables). [1] Each piece of writing contains multiple layers and meanings. Then I started to think that the author is important and their contributions do matter for a number of reasons. For instance, knowing more about the author can help readers better understand the themes of the story or what the author would convey. And for me when our class found on a little bit more on Johnny I thought that his narration (although unreliable at times) was all the more interesting. Ultimately, I feel that as long as the readers are able to gain something from reader the story, then it does not matter whether or not the author is present. Barthes stated that, “Once the author is removed, the claim to decipher becomes quite futile.” However, I believe that at this point the claim to decipher a text is at its greatest because there are endless interpretations the readers could create. “A text lies not in its origin but its destination” READ MORE : http://penmind..com.ng/2016/12/authors-are-dead-when-their-books.html |
I can laugh because I’m happy But I’m laughing because the happiness has gone And the unexpected has nullify our euphoria Though there is water everywhere But there is no water to drink Though freedom abounds from the outset But people are dining in misery. Though beautiful years of harvest are recorded But people are residing in the insole of wants Even the sun testifies to the condition of man Through its heat as if to burn the ado The moon descends at night With tremor like a giant to pacify the fuss The wind blew as if to unfold its ominous view The ocean roar in pain As if to surmount the inconspicuous mishap The cloud mumbles as if to exterminate the slave master Even the shadow is ever following to console. Cat-o-nine-tails is the only communication channel Where there is no chance for alternative What I like most to do resides in my imagination But never materialized because There is no fertile land to appreciate my seed Those I struggle to plant with the motive of shock Are being choked up by the thorns Even the formation of life is hidden And appear like a masquerade with a mishmash of garment Where solid foundation became a slippery ground That has abolished a lot of ideas. What is then the essence of life? What is the purpose of procreation? When will life become favorable to me? When will Banana Republic gain its independence? When will I exchange pleasantry with my shadow? When will my mother dwell in paradise? Those who claim to know the road; show me the road Those who claim to understand the mysteries of life; interpret my parable Those who have degree in consolation; make me happy ones again Those who have food; feed me Those who have water; quench my thirst Those who can broadcast; make my request known to the world Those who are closer to the king; plead for my deliverance. I live my life like a mad man Whose best cloth is rag and apartment is dunghill I live my life like the serfs who is in land trust to the lord I live my life like a prey in the hand of predator I live my life like a sandal Though beautify the feet but will later worn-out I live my life like a fan that produces breeze but still emitting heat I live my life like nightingale whose music is sonorous But it’s out of badass experience of life. How I wish the world is free How I wish life is without pain If the world is free, then will I be free. Source: http://penmind..com.ng/2016/12/life-for-rent-by-aduragbemi-barnabas.html |

The hero of all time, Chief Obafemi Awolowo of the old western region who was one of the political stalwarts, nationalists, fought the battle alongside other patriotic Nigerians to quench the thirst for the agitation of self-rule in Nigeria, was release from prison on 2nd of August, 1966 after he had been convicted of a crime in the court of law on 11th September, 1963 as a result of bizarre political occurrence which led to the heightening of tension in the old Western Nigeria. The political gem might have been convicted at that time not just to make him experience the whip of the law but purposely to serve as a lesson for the subsequent generations in the political realm that Nigerian constitution is supreme and that every leader must lead by example. Before, during and after his life in prison, Awolowo had proved to be a true leader of which the whole world affirmed before he passed away. The hero, while in detention, addressed a letter to The Supreme Commander and Head of the Federal Military Government in Lagos on 28th March 1966 to tell the world that he was truly created to serve the nation, to embrace the peace and not to turn the country into pieces, though there might be mistakes by the leader. In his epistle, Awolowo stated that: ‘in the course of my evidence during my trial, I stated that my Party favoured and was actively working for alliance with the N.C.N.C. as a means, among other things, of solving what I described as ‘the problem of Nigeria’, and strengthening the unity of the Federation.’ Read more at http://penmind..com.ng/2016/08/50-years-after-awolowos-release-from.html |

When the day wears its knickers of dusk, I can walk without leg I can talk without tongue I can drink without throat Just throw me bowls of wine The one, right from the forest Of dying stream But who needs streams to sanctify Satan to be a saint? I can swim in the sea of bear Just throw me sixty ounces: ale, lager, whiskey, gin My belly can drown India Ocean But a lush needs no counsel to be drunk Give me Everest of meat, There are free rides to my mouth, The tarmac of my tongue is laced slippery coal tar To transport morsels One just refined from the Island wild Of pounded yam, Forget not the toothpick To dredge the banks of my mouth But chicken befriends not, the meat consumers Read more at http://penmind..com.ng/2016/07/song-of-pub-by-olaniyi-abdulwaheed.html |
