Ekiti State Government said it will prosecute a soldier’s wife who came into the state from Katsina State with coronavirus despite the lockdown order and prohibition of inter-state movement
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, said on Wednesday that the woman who came to visit her husband had committed an offence and would face prosecution.
“Though it was the husband who alerted us, it is an offence against the state and the Ministry of Justice will take appropriate actions against her at the right time,” Yaya-Kolade said.
She said the woman’s husband who was her only main contact had been quarantined for 14 days in line with the World Health Organisation guidelines.

The state government also said it had arrested 10 people and had kept them in quarantine following measures to prevent coronavirus spread in the state.

No fewer than 265 evacuated Nigerians have arrived in Lagos State from Dubai on Wednesday
They arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, via an Emirate Airline about 07.40pm.

The PUNCH reports that upon their arrival, the evacuees are expected to proceed into 14-day isolation.

The returnees had been scheduled to arrive at the airport at 3.00 p.m. but one of the passengers went into labour.

According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, the plane had to make a U-turn to United Arab Emirate.
A press statement from NIDCOm read, “A Nigerian lady, Mrs Kafayat Amusan, one of the stranded Nigerians travellers, returning from Dubai, UAE, has been delivered of a baby boy on board Emirates airline departing to Lagos.”

The Chairman of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed that the plane was expected to land any moment from 7pm.

She also congratulated Amusan for another addition in her family and prayed she return safely to the country.

“She will return to Nigeria after obtaining a birth certificate and other necessary travel documents for her baby boy,” she added.
The PUNCH reports other Nigerians are expected to be evacuated within the next few days.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, over 4,000 Nigerians are waiting to be evacuated across the world back home.
