Ever since her stellar performance in the movie, ‘Arugba,’ directed by legendary film maker, Tunde Kilani, ten years ago, actress Bukky Awoyemi, popularly known as Bukky Arugba, remained Nigerians’ sweetheart on the silver screen until 2014 when she encountered her first scandal as an actress.

It was reported that Bukky snatched her actor husband, Damola Olatunji, from another woman.

But in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, the mother of twins said that it was the most challenging time of her life.

“People do not know the true story of an event but they just conclude and pass judgment. It was not easy for me back then because it was my most challenging moment in life. I am a very quiet person and it was a very gloomy period of my life but I thank God it is over. It was just the grace of God that kept me through that period and I would not want to comment further on that issue,” she said.

The actress who has since got her groove back and returned to grace the silver screen told Saturday Beats how her husband reacts when another man kisses her on set.

She said,

“I am a professional so I don’t feel anyhow when I see him kiss another woman but as for me, I really don’t like doing things like that in a movie. But when I don’t do it well, my husband criticises me. He would tell me that I have to make it real. He would say that if I don’t do it well, it would not be real enough.
“Whenever my husband is working on any project, he shows me the script first because I would analyse it thoroughly and objectively. I am always honest with my opinion about his work because no one can tell him the truth like I would. He knows that I would not be biased.”

Bukky further spoke on how she has been able to handle the teeming female fans under her husband’s spell based on his acting prowess.

“We both don’t get jealous when we are with our fans or admirers because it is something we had been experiencing even before we got married. Of course they would not take him home after they are done talking with him or taking pictures with him,” she said.

Kolewerk rapper, Olayiwola Kokumo, aka Koker, is doing well in his career at the moment. With hit tracks like Kolewerk ft. Olamide; Do Something, Give Them, Okay, among others, he has been able to generate some buzz in the industry.

Sunday Scoop heard some gists recently which suggested that Koker was no longer having a good relationship with his record company, Chocolate City, and that he had practically left the label. We put a call through to the artiste to hear his side of the story, and he said, “I’ll be dropping a new single soon and I’m also working on an album to be released early next year. The album would be released by Chocolate City because I’m still very much with the label. Does it look like I’m not with them anymore? There is no truth to any rumour whatsoever. My selling point is simply about me being myself.”

Reminiscing on some of the sacrifices he has had to make in the course of his career, Koker said, “Back when I was still a student at the University of Lagos, I used to sell my bed space to pay for studio sessions. I also used to pay to perform at shows.”

Budding and talented actress, Yetunde Alade’s name doesn’t ring a bell yet, but she is certainly making moves to become a mega Nollywood sweeheart soon. In a recent chat with Sunday Scoop, Alade said that she has brought a new style of acting into the industry.

She said, “The way I act is unique to me. I am a method actor, and I always submerge myself in any role that I take. I believe that movies should not only entertain, but also teach people important lessons of life. Whenever I take any role, I give it my total attention and sometimes, I talk and behave like the characters even off screen.”

Alade, who has appeared in over 30 films, says she’s preparing to shoot her first movie. “A lot of people have asked me why I haven’t produced my own movie till this time. It is because I want to come out with the best. I like to give my best efforts to anything I set out to do,” she said.

Asked to mention her biggest challenge as an actress, she said, “As far as I’m concerned, piracy is the biggest problem Nollywood has. Imagine a situation where one invests his or her life savings in a project, and someone else just sits in one corner and fraudulently reaps the benefits of that investment. It is very wicked and I think that is the first thing the government should deal with for us in the entertainment industry.”
