Although the Nigerian fans in the stands might be hugely outnumbered by their Ghanaian counterparts, but they make sure to make their voices to be heard. When other Nigerian athletes finish competing, they drum up support for those in action. The Nigerian fans are such a vibe in the stands!

Proud Father - Moforehan Abinusawa's dad flew down from the US to cheer his daughter who was representing Nigeria for the first time. She attributes her track successes to her father who tries to be at every meet where she is competing in; and it was surely a proud moment for him watching her life, running for the Green & White.
|
Before Chidi Okezie took to the track to compete in men's 400m final at the #AfricanGames2023, he got a call from the legendary Innocent Egbunike, who was the last Nigerian male quarter-miler to win an African Games title since 1987. "It was the extra motivation I needed..." Chidi said about his conversation with Egbunike.

SILVER for Esther Elo Joseph 🇳🇬!!🥈🥈 She ran the race of her life, going out hard and then holding on firmly to win Silver in the women's 400m final at the African Games in a new Personal Best (PB) of 51.61s! She was only beaten by World 800m Champion Mary Moraa 🇰🇪 who clocked 50.57s for the win.

We have been saying 'No Gree for Anybody' since this year, but the Nigerian 4x100m teams took it to another level competing in the men and women's races at the University of Ghana Stadium. Nigeria's women's 4x100m team led the way against the Ghanaian team, only for the Nigerian men's team to put the final nail on their national teams. This 'No gree for anybody' was personal... Naija came to Ghana to beat them on their turf!! Who dey check am!!

Celebrating Omolara Omotosho-Ogunmakinju and her husband, Adeleye Ogunmakinju. Omolara's husband was once an athlete himself, and has been very supportive of his wife's Athletics career. She led a Nigerian 1-2 finish with Chioma Onyekwere 🇳🇬 who dug deep on her 5th attempt, finding a 58.03s to claim Silver. National Champion Ashley Anumba managed 54.88m to finish 4th.

The moment Obiageri Amaechi realized she had become an African Games champion. Amaechi had never won an individual title before, but when her time came at the Games in Accra, she made the best use of the opportunity, winning her first continental GOLD medal for Nigeria. Amaechi threw a new Personal Best of 58.93m to secure the victory

You have got to respect Oluwakemi Francis. Her body was sore and fatigued after the Javelin (the sixth event). She gave everything in the last event (800m), and although she was not strong enough to give her best in the race, she did just enough to make sure that she got herself on the podium again. Francis won her second consecutive Silver medal in the Heptathlon event at the African Games
|
Five medals on Day 4 of Athletics, not a bad return. ▪️ Ese Brume 🥇 (Long Jump) ▪️ Obiageri Amaechi 🥇 (Discus) ▪️ Chioma Onyekwere 🥈 (Discus) ▪️ Kemi Francis 🥈 (Heptathlon) ▪️ Prestina Ochonogor 🥉 (Long Jump)

The Nigeria Athletes were outstanding at the All African Games, a massive win at the Athletics Table, Boxing, Weightlifting amongst others. • 11 Golds in Athletics • 16 Golds in Weightlifting • 8 out of 11 Golds in Boxing • Lots of medals in other sports Side-note: Egypt 🇪🇬 1991 South Africa 🇿🇦 1999 Nigeria 🇳🇬 2003 Surely, hosting & winning the African Games is not for everyone😒 The Major Highlight of the Event: Nigeria made a clean sweep in the Relays - it's not every time that we get to see this. Women's 4x100m 🥇 [Tobi Amusan Brilliance] Men's 4x100m 🥇 [Team Nigeria revenge against Ghana after 20years. Ghana won the 4x100m in Abuja the last time. Nigeria had to recreate that feat against Ghana] Mixed 4x400m 🥇 [The Last Anchor for Nigeria singlehandly turned Silver to Gold] Watch the outstanding race https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cho80E1dXls The Relays is an event Nigeria 🇳🇬 can be very dominant in.
