Nairaland GeneralHow To Perform NIN Verification On Ecitizen by Pevacs(op): 1:56pm On Dec 17, 2024
The National Identification Number (NIN) is a unique 11-digit number issued by Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). It serves as a personal identifier for Nigerian citizens and legal residents. The NIN is linked to an individual’s personal data, including biometric details like fingerprints, facial recognition, and demographic information. It is used for various purposes, including: Identity verification, Accessing government services, Opening bank accounts, Obtaining and registering a telephone number, Applying for passports and driver’s licenses. Think of NIN as Nigeria’s version of the Social Security Number (SSN) in the US.

A friend recently mentioned how some Nigerians living abroad struggle to verify the validity of their NIN obtained at diaspora enrollment centers. This reminded me of a platform (ecitizen) that I’m familiar with and have used a couple of times to verify my NIN, BVN and to check a few businesses I wanted to transact with early this year.

The Platform undoubtedly makes verifying Nigerian identities simple, fast, and secure. I thought that by sharing this guide, I could help individuals ease the hassle of verifying their NIN.

ecitizen is a digital platform that allows you verify the identities of Nigerian individuals and businesses. The platform also allows you to: Check credit scores, Use Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to access vehicle history to know if a vehicle had been reported stolen, flooded etc, you can also verify car registration details using license plate numbers.

Is ecitizen Secure?

If you’re worried about privacy or potential fraud, rest assured that ecitizen is a consent-driven platform and complies with NDPR regulations. You cannot verify someone’s identity without their explicit permission — they have to grant consent.

When you initiate a NIN or credit score verification, the platform automatically sends a consent request via SMS, email, and WhatsApp to the phone number linked to the person’s NIN or BVN, if consent is granted you will be able to access the verification result, similarly if consent is declined, you will not be able to access the verification result.
How to Perform NIN Verification on ecitizen

1. Visit https://e-citizen.ng/ or download the ecitizen app from the Play Store or App Store and then proceed to create an account

2. Verify your email and proceed to log in to your account.

3. From your dashboard, select “Identity Verification”, choose “Basic Identity Profile” Next, select “NIN”, enter the required details and proceed accordingly.

4. After completing the checkout, the data subject will receive a consent request via SMS, email, and WhatsApp. Once the person approves the request, you’ll be able to access the verification results on your dashboard.

The platform is incredibly user-friendly, easy to use, and affordable. Try it out and share this guide with someone who might need it!

AutosRe: Why Should I Check My VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER? by Pevacs: 4:44pm On Dec 16, 2024
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique code assigned to each automobile, acting as the car's fingerprint—no two vehicles share the same VIN. This 17-character code, made up of digits and capital letters, serves as the vehicle's distinctive identifier.

A typical VIN might look like this: JTHBA30G055082891. You can usually find it on the driver’s side door frame when you open the door, as well as in other areas of your vehicle.

You can check a VIN at https://e-citizen.ng/. The platform allows you to perform seamless and fast VIN checks. There's no need to pay anyone for assistance—you’ll receive instant results directly on the platform after the check is completed
