Predator: Badlands Trailer Debuts at CinemaCon – Emerges

A Predator Hero

CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas lit up with excitement as Elle Fanning took the stage to unveil the first trailer for Predator: Badlands, a new entry in the legendary sci-fi franchise. This time, the series takes an unexpected twist—presenting the Predator not as the hunter, but as an unlikely hero.

A Predator Like No Other

In a surprising turn of events, Predator: Badlands introduces a young Predator warrior who has been cast out from his kind. Instead of hunting humans, he forms an alliance with one—played by Fanning.

“Something unprecedented happens in this movie,” Fanning teased the CinemaCon audience. “My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light.”

Exclusive Trailer Breakdown

The trailer, revealed exclusively to attendees, opened with mysterious Predator relics aboard a spaceship. “I didn’t think he survived,” a voice says, setting the stage for the film’s tension. The Predator is then shown standing alone on the shore of an alien world—without his iconic helmet—suggesting vulnerability and exile.

Viewers were treated to scenes of the Predator battling monstrous alien creatures, with Fanning's character delivering a memorable line: “You’re something that cannot be killed.” The teaser ends with the Predator roaring defiantly as a massive beast charges at him, shattering trees in its path.

A Standalone Story from the Director of Prey

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Prey, 2022) and co-written with Patrick Aison, Predator: Badlands is a standalone story set apart from previous entries in the franchise. While Trachtenberg is also attached to an upcoming, untitled third Predator film, this one is meant to chart its own course in the Predator universe.

Release Date
