The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole stop his obsession to change the leadership of the Senate, as such is completely out of his reach.

The party counsels Oshiomhole to stop his childish tantrums and get educated on the fact that the positions of the Senate President and that of Deputy Senate President do not belong to political parties but to Nigerians, who elect persons into the seats through their elected representatives in the Senate.

Mr. Oshiomhole should also stop exposing his ignorance in thinking that the Senate leadership can be changed by his inconsequential orders as a factional chairman of a political party, when the law is settled that such power is vested only on the two-third votes, representing 73 of the 109 senators.

We know that Oshiomhole is under intense pressure from the presidency to overheat the polity, distract the National Assembly members and make as much effort to cause a constitutional crisis in the country, having realized that they cannot win the 2019 general elections.
However, the PDP strongly cautions these desperate power grabbers to note that their actions have unlimited capacity to destroy our democracy.
Nigerians have noted that since his imposition as the factional Chairman of the APC, Mr. Oshiomhole, has done nothing but spewing hate speeches and officially introducing a thug mentality into the polity, while causing confusion in every sector of our national life, including the Federal Executive Council, the security system, our legislature as well as in his dysfunctional APC, which as an undertaker, he is finally set to bury.

Since Oshiomhole assumed office, the nation has witnessed various unimaginable constitutional infractions, including the invasion of Benue State House of Assembly and the Ekiti state Government House by APC-Controlled federal security agencies, the escalated harassment of federal legislators and persons perceived to be averse to APCs' re-election bid; the siege at the residences of Senate President Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu by security agencies as well as the recent invasion of the National Assembly
by security operatives.

While the PDP invites Nigerians and the international community to note the activities of Mr Oshiomhole, as being directed by the
Presidency, the party hold firmly that they are fighting a lost battle as they cannot cow Nigerians into changing their resolve to end this nightmare by voting the APC out and returning our nation to the path of peace, national cohesion and economic prosperity, on the platform of the repositioned PDP, come 2019.

Nigeria fraudsters have gone wild with their bad tactics they use to extort money from their victims, many of them now impersonate men of God , claiming to offer prayer and vision to people and at the process collects money .

It did not go well for this one as he was impersonating the man of God Rev. Fr. Dibie mairo David, he contacted one delta state house of assembly member , claiming to be the Rev. But unluckily for him, the man contacted Rev. To confirm if truly he is the one , after some verifications , a plan was set out and today he was caught.

According to the Rev. He said : it will interest you my sons and daughters to know that we've caught one of those who poses to be me on Facebook to dupe people all in the name of prayers, vision and seed sowing.
He tried his extortion gimmicks with an Honorable Member of the Delta State House of Assembly who then contacted me to verify.

Please don't be foolish to fall victims for these impostors, I can never and will never ask anyone for money on any social media platform. Please share this to warn others .

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has ordered an investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the collapsed Water Tank behind the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi Stadium during the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships holding in Asaba.


In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary,Charles Aniagwu, Governor Okowa described the incident as regrettable but thanked God that no life was lost.

God Okowa who expressed concern over the collapse of the water tank behind the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, thanked God that no life was lost to the incident.

The Governor has directed an immediate investigation into the cause of the collapse of the water tank with a view to unravel the circumstances surrounding the collapse.

He also emphasised that discilplinary actions will be taken against anyone culpable in the collapse of the water tank if it is discovered that someone failed to do the right thing abinitio.

The statement further assured that Government will take necessary steps to avert future occurrence.

He called on the Athletes and the very enthusiastic spectators to continue to savory the beauty if the competition which so far has recorded appreciable success.

The Championships will officially kick off on Wednesday, 1 August, 2018 with the opening ceremony, and will close on Sunday, 5 August, with the closing ceremony.

The Delta State Acting Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro has stated that the state government is ready to host the continent at the 21st African Senior Athletics Championship tagged “Asaba 2018” scheduled for August 1st – 5th .

Deacon Otuaro who disclosed this today while declaring open the “African Tour/Trial”, and test run of facilities at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, venue of the championship, said all the necessary facilities needed for the championship were in place for a successful event.

He said athletes from 45 African countries including Nigeria will be in Asaba for the championship, stressing that "Today marks the test running of the facilities in preparation of the African Senior Athletics Championship and as you can see we are very set for the country, we are set for Africa.

For everyone, both athletes and guests, as a state government, our simple message is that Delta state is set to give them a beautiful hosting; we are an accommodating people, everything that is needed to make this championship a success is set and we are welcoming them all".

The acting Governor said adequate security and other logistics had been provided to ensure a hitch free championship, adding that the test run of facilities was organised to prove to the world that the state was 100% ready to host the continent.

Deacon Otuaro called on Deltans and lovers of sports to come out en-mass to give support to the athletes and make the event a memorable one, adding that the event would continue to be acknowledged in the annals of history as the most successful in the series of the championship.

While reiterating the hospitable nature of deltans, He enjoined the visitors to also take advantage of the tourism potentials of the state
The test run of facilities for the 21st African Senior Athletics Championship featured various track and field events by students of selected secondary schools and professional athletes from within and outside the country.
