PhonesRe: Finally Ntel Is Live. Go Get Your Sim by pierrenwob: 9:15pm On Jun 11, 2016
I have collected my Ntel SIM in Lagos, Slot Shop on Akin Adesola. Paid 3k for 1 week bundle unlimited data. I am using my Spectranet unlocked myfy. The speed is the best of all the possible internet service in Lagos.

I have used it in both V.I and Gbagada and the speed is super fast. I already used 31g of data.

Siena Thank you so much. I will keep you posted.
Siena: Your "mechanic" simply wants to bend you over, and give you the rough end of a pineapple. The F125 switch is under the car, on the transmission casing (driver's side). The TCU is inside the car, under the front carpet. Not related to the F125 that lives elsewhere! So they're not "one component."

Where did he get his price? 348,000 Naira is £1,500! That's more than a complete valve body will cost you brand new, and shipped from the UK (the most expensive core component).

I am willing to bet there's nothing wrong with your TCU either. The F125, I knew would come up in a scan anyway, and that's what you should be concentrating on.

Siena: I would be looking at a few things here:

01) Transmission oil and strainer dirty.
02) Transmission range / multi-function switch (F125) faulty.
03) TCU damaged by water ingress.

A fluid flush could often help an ailing transmission, but right now, I wouldn't advice it. Your ZF5HP19 transmission takes about 9 litres, and isn't cheap. At this point, I'd say your transmission issues are more critical.

The F125 switch is a common culprit. It is mounted on the transmission, driver's side under the car, and is subject to oil / water contamination. I would advise the plug is looked at, and cleaned with contact cleaner, replaced and re-tested.

If this produces no results, I would have the driveline scanned BEFORE proceeding any further. Please don't have the codes cleared, and post the results here.

The PRNDS all iluminated is your transmission's equivalent of a check engine light. It's in limp mode, and should NOT be driven in this state. The car must be pretty sluggish to drive, as it'll only engage 4th gear, so no lower gears, and 5th won't work either.

Classic symptoms of catastrophic failure.
Hello Siena,

Thank you so much for the taking out time to give a detailed feedback. I have scanned the car and below are the error codes:

1. 17090 p0706 035 multifunction f125 switch implausible signal sporadic.
2. p1623 can bus no communication sporadic.

My Mechanic has advised that I need to change the Multi-function Switch/ Transmission Control Unit, which according to him, is 'one component' (together)[Part Number: 01J927156CJ ] in 2001 to 2005 Audi A6, Europe. According to him at the Company (VW Nigeria) in Lagos it goes for about 348,000 naira.

What is your take on the error codes and Is it advisable to buy a second hand TCU off an Audi Spare Parts dealer. I spoke with one over the phone who requested for the parts number, I sent the parts number to him and he called me back later in the day to say that he could get me one for less than 80,000 naira.

I await your most valued professional advise.

Best Regards
