Hotel lock management system is a type of access control that is used in managing lodging operations in hotels.
It uses radio frequency technology known as RFID card. These cards are used as keys to open the hotel lock, hotel locks looks like the normal handle lock found in our doors, the main difference is that it uses a certain radio frequency to operate.
Other devices and items found in a hotel lock management system are:

1. Hotel lock
2. Card encoder.
3. Desktop computer.
4. Card key energy server.
5. RFID card.
6. Hotel lock software.
7. Distribution board.

These are needed to complete a hotel lock management system operation.

Card encoder: are the programming device connected to the desktop through a USB port, this help the operator program the check in and out of Guest lodging.

Desktop computer: this is used to host the hotel software, store data and execute the encoder programming.

Card key energy server: it is a card holder switch that switch on when a card is slot in it, this an interesting device use to also switch off a set of selected electrical appliances when the card is taking out of the holder and room to save energy when no one is in the room.

RFID card: which stand for radio frequency id card. This card is programmable, and serves as key to the hotel lock.

Hotel lock software: the software is installed to the desktop computer to give time line for lodging, create a database for operation, manage other hotel operations.

Distribution board: the card key energy server is connected to the distribution board of the room to switch on and off selected electrical appliances in the room to save energy.

Good day, my people! I was called for a fire alarm installation survey.
The site was a gas plant, after analysis and coming up with a suggested installation, the client said he was informed that it was going to fight fire when it occurs.
It was really a wrong orientation, I have to explain to him how it works, it was a double job for me to unlearn what he knew about fire alarm and update him about the reality of Fire alarm.
Now to the topic, fire alarm system are to detect fire early and in places where and when people might not be, so as to draw the attention of people responsible for fighting the fire.
Putting off fire at an initial stage is crucial, as fire tend to grow with time and becomes difficult to fight. That is were a fire alarm system is important.
Fire alarm system can be integrated to fire fighting system, such as fire sprinklers and extinguishers. That is what the informant of my clients failed to explain to him, fire alarm system on it's own doesn't fight fire, but can be integrated to fire fighting system to automatically fight fire.
Fire alarm system can be integrated to other systems to help stop the spread of fire, such as electrical control panel, air conditioner and generating set. This automatically switch off all this electrical systems to mitigate the spread of fire through electricity.

Good day, the dry season in Nigeria has always had a higher fire outbreak.
The incident at Next Cash and Carry is just one of such, and probably more incidents might occur. One of the most common fire fighting equipment is the fire extinguisher, and everyone should know how to use it.
There was a video of the fire outbreak at Next Cash and Carry Mall, showing how some people struggle to use the extinguishers when the fire was at the initial stage to be put off by extinguisher.
The fire extinguishers are used to stop fire at it's early stage. And there is a basic technique to do that.
It's is called "PASS" which stands for pull safety pin for "P", aim at the base of fire for "A", squeeze lever for "S" and swipe for "S".
The safety pin is placed to prevent the extinguisher from accidentally been discharged. It has to be pulled out to be able to discharged its content.
When fighting the fire, you aim at the base of the fire, because that's were the reaction of the fire takes place.
You squeeze the lever to release it's content. It comes with pressure so you can give your self a distant from the fire.
Then you swipe left to right continuesly until the fire is put off. But when the fire is to big, you have to evacuate the premises to a safe place and call the fire service.

It is a shame that some of the commercial and industrial buildings in Nigeria do no have fire prevention systems and fire fighting systems or equipments to help prevent and mitigate fire hazards.
Next cash and Carry Jahi, one of the biggest shopping malls in Abuja was on fire on boxing day 2021, by 10.00am.
The fire was said to be caused by an electrical fault. The fire was burning for sometime with no one detecting it.
Yes it was holidays on a Sunday with no one in the building to detect it, but definitely there were security personnel at the premises.
If the had a "working" fire alarm system, billion of naira would have been saved. I use the word in code working, because there are fire alarm systems in Nigeria commercial and industrial buildings, that have not been serviced for ages. Wich is as good as having none.
I see a lot of commercial and industrial buildings having fire fighting equipment without fire detecting systems. Yes fire fighting equipment are very important, but detecting a fire late might render fire fighting equipment less important, it has to be used to fight fire as quickly as possible to stop it being uncontrollable, and unstable.
Put the right systems on ground. Spend little to save so much. Fire hazards can make you go from wealthy to being broke within hours.
