You have to look at Swahili people like Dominicans, a group of people who are a mixture of Africans, Natives & Europeans. Some Dominicans identify with their African roots whilst others identify more with their European or native roots but at the end of the day they're all Dominicans.
So, let's take Mombasa for example, you have the Twelve Tribes (Native Swahilis), Swahilized Africans & Swahilized Arabs. Naturally the Arab Swahili will identify more with Arabia then a Swahili Pokomo-Kenyan but they're both Swahili connected by their mother tongue language, culture and beliefs.

That was the simple lazy breakdown but the Swahili coast is a little more intricate than that.

I'm a Swahili from Tanzania and what I have noticed is the Kenyan Swahilis have a more well defined Swahili identity than the Tanzanian ones, I think they might be more Arabized as well but I'm rambling

Someone told me Swahili is a nation, not a tribe. The swahili nation. Like the Miji Kenda of Kenya are considered Swahili people. And those Arabs identify themselves with Swahilis rather than Arabs. Kenyans generally call those Arabs Swahilis.

This is sad. These people have some esteem issues. Kenyans vary in skin tones. Nilotes, dark. Western Bantus not so dark. Eastern Bantus mostly lighter. Cushites lighter etc. If you watch Kenyan sports then you will see very dark Kenyans, coz they are dominated by nilotes. Its like watching France football team. Same thing here

I've already stated that it's only the Kenyan Somalis and the Barawani/Bajuni communities that speak Swahili. The rest of us don't speak it and I'm 100% certain that there are more Amharic speaking ethnic Somalis than there are Swahili speaking ones.

As for your other question, I'm Somali as I've stated many times. My dad was born and raised in Somalia.

Northern ugandans do but most southern ugandans don't and that is why swahili is not so popular in Kampala (the capital city, located in southern Uganda).
Luganda is still the lingua franca there and to survive in Kampala you must learn to speak it.

Its easier for Swahili to be de facto than Amharic. Plus there are more Ethiopians(mostly Oromos and Somalis) who come to Kenya than Kenyans who go to Ethiopia.

Only a small fraction of southern Somalis are Bantu and they speak either the May dialect of the Somali language or their own Bantu language that they've held onto ever since their ancestors were kidnapped from Tanzania/Mozambique.
