Sports › Sergio Ramos Advises Kane 'not To Reject' Real Madrid by plethora007(op): 3:06pm On Jun 07, 2023
Real Madrid are looking for a striker ahead of Karim Benzema's departure to Saudi Arabia. The favourite for the job is Tottenham's Harry Kane.

Sergio Ramos, speaking to the 'Mirror', encouraged the Englishman to join Carlo Ancelotti's side: "My advice to any player is not to turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid, it's a special club that knows how to win".

The former Real Madrid man believes he could be a perfect fit for the 'Merengues'. "Kane has an incredible physical presence, which allows him to score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and excel in the physical side of the game, but he can also be a key player in the technical side and I don't think he gets enough credit for that," he said.

For the player from Camas, the Spurs '9' is one of the most complete options that Madrid could find on the market: "Yes, he is a great striker, but he is also a great football player".

Sports › On Tenterhooks For Messi: Inter Miami Overtake Al Hilal And Barcelona by plethora007(op): 2:42pm On Jun 07, 2023
Striker Leo Messi has not yet given an answer about his future. The player is waiting to receive an offer from Barcelona, but so far, the proposal has not arrived.

The Financial Fair Play has prevented Barca from making an offer to the Argentine. A situation that Inter Miami and Al Hilal have taken advantage of to approach the World Cup winner.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the American side have moved up a gear in the last few hours and could be the one to land the player. Inter Miami would be the team most likely to convince Messi.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal are not losing faith. After the departure of Karim Benzema to Al Ittihad, in Saudi Arabia they want Messi to be the next star to land in this competition where Ronaldo is already playing. The Saudi team's plan is to announce his signing once Messi returns from the call-up with the 'Albiceleste', after the matches against Australia and Indonesia.

Last but not least, Barcelona, who dream of being able to make Messi the offer that both parties, the club and the player, want so much. It is waiting for an 'o.k.' from La Liga to be able to transmit it to him. Time is what the club is trying to gain, although it seems difficult.

The Catalan newspaper claims that Messi does not want to drag out his decision too long. Inter Miami and Al Hilal have already sent him their proposals and that could play against the Catalan giants. Time is passing and, according to the latest information, the future of the '10' could be in the United States.

Sports › Jorge Messi Meets With Laporta: "Leo Wants To Return To Barca And I Would Love T by plethora007(op): 1:00pm On Jun 05, 2023
Barcelona lost to Celta in Vigo on Sunday to end La Liga, but that was by no means the end of work at the club. In fact, on Monday there has already been relevant news about next season and the name that has Barcelona fans dreaming.

Jorge Messi was spotted by journalist Toni Juanmartí at Joan Laporta's house. The Barcelona president and Leo's father are said to have met to discuss the possible return of the Rosarino star to the Catalan giants.

In the video published by the aforementioned source on Twitter, the Argentine can be seen entering Laporta's home. This image did not take long to become viral and aroused the illusion in the 'Cules' part that dreams of seeing Messi back at Barcelona.

As he left the meeting, Messi's father was "assaulted" by several journalists and was asked numerous questions as he walked. After denying having met with Laporta on Monday, although they did speak "the other day", he assured that he would "love" his son to return to Barcelona, that they are confident he will be able to do so and responded with a direct "yes" to whether there could be news soon.

Sports › Casemiro To Fight For More Silverware With Man Utd: "Every Game Is A Different S by plethora007(op): 6:20pm On Jun 02, 2023
Manchester United and Manchester City will meet in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and both teams will be fighting to take home the trophy.

Casemiro, who joined the Red Devils in the summer transfer window, gave an interview to 'The Guardian' to talk about his feelings ahead of the showdown. The Brazilian urged his teammates to be "realistic".

"Every game is a different story, a different film as we like to say. You have to be realistic, and I like to be very much a realist. They were better than us in that game. They deserved to beat us but when you talk about a 6-3 in the context of a league, it's still three points that you get," he began.

"Of course, your morale drops and it's boosted when you score six in victory but we beat them at home and as I've said, each game is completely different but losing in that way is tough for you. But we have already won a trophy and we've clinched third place in the Premier League and now we're in this final."

The Brazilian midfielder also spoke about Erik ten Hag and his role as coach: "So, whenever you talk about long-term projects, which this is, it's normal for it to take time for a manager's mentality, his philosophy to be taken on board, but I believe we're more comfortable now.

"The manager has had a great season, the club has had a great season, but of course we're excited and it's lovely to be playing in a FA Cup final but the difference from then [pre-season] to now is the time the manager has been here," he concluded.

Sports › Bad News For Madrid: Bellingham Returns To England With Knee Problems by plethora007(op): 4:32am On Jun 02, 2023
Jude Bellingham is returning home after the Bundesliga title flop with Borussia Dortmund. With Bayern needing a win to overtake Dortmund, Musiala hammered home with the clock winding down, ensuring the Bavarians keep their grip on the title for another season.

The midfielder returned home to Birmingham from Germany on Thursday. Bellingham was spotted by photographer Florian Groeger with a brace covering his right knee.

The Englishman will spend his holidays in England while talks about his future continue. The 19-year-old is still Real Madrid's main target to strengthen their midfield next season.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl spoke again about his future in a press conference: "I can say that things will become clear in the next few days and weeks. But nothing has happened at the moment," he told reporters.

Sports › Benzema Breaks His Silence: "I'm At Madrid. What They Say On The Internet Isn't by plethora007(op): 4:22am On Jun 02, 2023
There has been lots of speculation about whether or not Karim Benzema's time was up at Real Madrid. There were rumours of a huge offer from Saudi Arabia and several outlets reported that this press conference would be where he announced his departure. However his message was far less clear-cut.

Speaking to 'Marca' on stage, Benzema recalled his time at the Spanish club, where he arrived in 2009 from Olympique Lyonnais: "I was a child when I arrived at Real Madrid ... I only wanted to enjoy it and look at everything I've won", he stated.

"There's no other club like Real Madrid, the greatest names of this sport have played here", he added. Benzema has won 4 La Liga titles and 3 'Copa del Rey' trophies with the Spanish giants, as well as 4 consecutive Champions Leagues, adding a 5th last year. Between Spanish Super Cups, UEFA Super Cups and Club World Cups, the French international has also added another 12 titles to his trophy case during his time in Spain.

He was then asked several questions by children who were present on stage at the press conference, one of whom was brave enough to ask about his future. Initially he only replied rather cryptically, "If I'm staying? I'm only thinking about Sunday (final match of La Liga)".

But he added after, "Respond to questions about my future? What future? I'm here at Real Madrid. What they say on the internet isn't reality".

Although he seemed to deny the rumours of his departure, he made no concrete statements about renewing his contract with the club, so it remains unclear how long Madrid will be able to fight off the multi-million dollar offers heading Benzema's way from Saudi Arabia.

Sports › Getting Rid Of Arteta "Could Be Best Thing For Arsenal" by plethora007(op): 7:37am On Jun 01, 2023
Mikel Arteta gave a press conference ahead of the last Premier League matchday against Wolves and spoke about his frustration that his side did not win the Premier League: "My job is to get the best out of the 24 players that we have available and I have not been able to do that".

These words were not enough to console ex-Gunner Tony Adams. The now column-writer for 'The Sun' wrote his opinion of the Spanish manager in the well-known newspaper.

"I think a big part of this side have reached their max level. They're definitely not going to challenge Manchester City next season and, without a lot of work this summer, it'll be hard for them to come second again", he claimed.

"They've spent more than €400 million on new signings since they names Arteta in 2019, but none of them are players City would've wanted. Arteta said that none of his players had got to their max level and denied that they finished completely done. I don't agree. Mentally, physically and emotionally they were empty", he added.

"I get the impression that Arteta didn't have much faith in the players on his bench. I'm not suggesting for a minute that Arsenal should get rid of Arteta, but I fear that could be the best thing for them", he ended.

Sports › Sevilla In Seventh Heaven, Extend Europa Record by plethora007(op): 6:50am On Jun 01, 2023
31st May 2023. The day history was made in Budapest. Sevilla were the side to overcome their Italian opponents and get the side's record seventh Europa League crown. After a hard-fought battle, stretching for more than two hours, it is the Spaniards who go home from Hungary having satisfied their hunger to claim one of Europe's biggest trophies.

It was a tense first half, with both sides clearly using the opening stages to settle into the affair. The Italian side were just doing enough to impose themselves over the Spaniards in the opening exchanges, but nothing which would have worried the Andalusians. After an opening half-hour exchanging free-kicks, it was Mourinho's men who eventually found the breakthrough.

Dybala's pinpoint finish off a superb Mancini through ball saw the ball sail past Bono into the bottom corner, igniting celebrations on the Mourinho bench and in the stands alike. This solitary goal set the tone for the rest of the half, with both sides happy to settle until their manager's could get their claws into their respective teamtalks.

It was an inspired Sevilla which came back out after the fifteen minute pause, pouncing to get on the front foot. Soon after this renewed pressure, the Spaniard found themselves level. After a tempting cross, the assist-hero Mancini unwittingly became the villain, helplessly fumbling a devilish cross into the back of his own net.

Mendibiliar's side continued with the pressure, making their coined term "Nadie la quiere como nosotros" ('Nobody loves it (the Europa League) like we do') plain for all to see. After the post was rattled several times by the side from southern Spain, Roma managed to cling on for the chance to end it in an additional thirty minutes.

Come extra time and Mendibilar's side had evidently settled into the affair, showing just why they are so infamously lethal in this competition. The longer the extra-time went on, the more the Spanish side seemed like coming out on top. However, after nothing separating the two hafter thirty minutes, the fans got their money's worth, being treated, or tortured to a penalty shoot-out.

This result means the Europa League trophy heads to the Sevillan trophy cabinet, after the Spanish side do what they do best. History made as Sevilla extend their record as the side with the most victories in the competition: 7 and counting. This result of course means the Spanish side will be in the Champions League next term.

Sports › Barca's New Move To Land Messi: Inter Miami And Loan Deal by plethora007(op): 11:42am On May 31, 2023
There are busy days ahead in the world of football when it comes to transfers. The transfer window opens in just over a month's time and there are several names on the table that will be the talk of the town.

One of them is Leo Messi's future, who is unlikely to remain at PSG next season. The Argentinian wants to decide his next destination as soon as possible, although an idyllic return to Barcelona is not the only offer on the table.

According to the latest reports, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal have put a dizzying offer of no less than 400 million euros per season on the table. Although the Argentinian star seems to want to continue at the highest level in Europe and nothing has been decided.

On the other side is Barcelona, which are not giving up despite their delicate economic situation. To this end, the 'Cules' board has planned a clever move so as not to depend on La Liga's 'o.k.' in terms of the Viability Plan.

According to 'L'Equipe', the Catalan giants' intention is to 'partner' with US side Inter Miami. Messi would sign for the MLS side, who in turn would loan the Argentinian star to the 'Cules' until at least the end of the 2023-24 season.

The player himself would give the go-ahead, as this would allow him to continue competing at the highest level in Europe before the possibility of attending a hypothetical Copa America in 2024. However, this new possibility still has many uncertainties, although it could be the beginning of the desire that all Barcelona fans have, which is none other than the return of one of their legends. As several authoritative voices at the club have already said, his return depends on Leo Messi himself.

Sports › PSG Star Neymar Willing To Sign For Man Utd In Summer by plethora007(op): 11:20am On May 31, 2023
'L'Equipe' reported that Manchester United had been in talks with Neymar to join the Red Devils in the next transfer window as the Brazilian will be looking for a new destination in the summer.

Furthermore, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag did not rule out a possible move for him: "When we have news... we will tell you," he told reporters.

The Dutch coach also spoke about their urgency of signing a new striker: "What we need besides Marcus Rashford is one extra player with scoring abilities".

Paris Saint-Germain are willing to part ways with the Brazilian at the end of the season despite having four years left on his contract.

But, according to 'The Sun', Neymar "is keen on completing a move to Manchester United" and will not leave the Parc des Princes unless he joins the Premier League outfit.

Sports › Man Utd Willing To Break The Bank For Mount by plethora007(op): 1:25pm On May 25, 2023
Manchester United are looking to the future with optimism. On the verge of qualifying for next season's Champions League, they have set their sights on a player they will face on Thursday, Mason Mount.

Chelsea's star academy player and idol of the fans, Mount could reconsider his future at Stamford Bridge when the new manager arrives, if he does not get the playing time he wants.

That is where Manchester United come in, reports the 'Daily Mail'. The Red Devils are willing to pay up to 63 million euros for a player whose contract expires in 2024.

The fact that he has not yet signed a renewal deal, and that there is barely a year left on his contract, makes it likely that he will leave Chelsea this summer.

The Red Devils know that it will not be easy, as they will have to convince the player and the club, as well as the interest of other big English clubs such as Liverpool and Arsenal.

Sports › Brighton Put An End To Man City's Winning Run To Secure Top-six Finish by plethora007(op): 8:34am On May 25, 2023
Phil Foden fired the English champions in front, but Brighton were well worthy of the point given to them by Julio Enciso's stunning long-range strike. Brighton, who had already secured European football next season for the first time in the club's history, are now certain to finish sixth.

City did at least stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to 25 games as Pep Guardiola's men opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the table with one game remaining. Guardiola heaped praise on Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi pre-match, hailing the Italian as one of the most influential managers of the last 20 years.

The City coach showed his respect by restoring a number of star names to his side that missed Sunday's 1-0 win over Chelsea to toast a fourth league title in five years.

Erling Haaland returned among six changes and could have had a seventh hat-trick of the season inside half an hour. The towering Norwegian headed over Foden's inviting cross on five minutes. Haaland then had a poor touch to blame for not beating Jason Steele when clean through on goal.

At the third time of asking he took no chances as Haaland unselfishly squared with just Steele to beat for Foden to convert his 15th goal of the season.

But after a slow start, Brighton soon began to live up to Guardiola's billing as the champions were rocked back on their heels. Danny Welbeck's free-kick came crashing off the bar and Facundo Buonanotte should have done better with his finish after sauntering through the City defence.

Kaoru Mitoma also saw an equaliser ruled out for handball. But there was no stopping Enciso's leveller when it did come as the Paraguayan picked up Levi Colwill's pass and smashed an effort into the top corner for his first goal at the Amex.

Brighton had the ball in the net for a third time in the first 45 minutes moments later only for Welbeck to be flagged offside from Mitoma's pass.

The second period was less filled with goalmouth action despite the electric pace of the game.

Haaland thought he finally had his 53rd goal of the season when he headed home Cole Palmer's cross 15 minutes from time. But a VAR review caught out City's prolific number nine as he had pulled Colwill's shirt to create the space for a free header.

Tempers briefly flared on the touchline after that decision with Guardiola shown a yellow card by the referee.

There were also minor injury concerns for City ahead of the FA Cup and Champions League finals next month as John Stones and Bernardo Silva were not moving freely as they were replaced in the closing stages. But it was all smiles at the end as Guardiola and De Zerbi shared a warm embrace of mutual admiration after the full-time whistle.

Sports › Man Utd Boss Ten Hag Does Not Rule Out Neymar Transfer by plethora007(op): 3:49pm On May 24, 2023
L'Equipe' reported that Manchester United had been in talks with Neymar to join the Red Devils in the next transfer window as the Brazilian will be looking for a new destination in the summer.

The same media outlet claimed that Casemiro is trying to convince his compatriot to play together in the Premier League next campaign.

Erik ten Hag was asked at the press conference ahead of Sunday's game against Chelsea if he could reveal any information about Neymar's alleged move to Old Trafford.

The Dutchman did not rule out the transfer of the Brazil international and said: "When we have news... we will tell you."

We will have to wait until the summer transfer window to find out if the former Barcelona striker signs for United.

Sports › Football's Racism Protocol Obsolete, Says Madrid's Ancelotti by plethora007(op): 1:09pm On May 23, 2023
The 22-year-old forward suffered vile racist taunts at Mestalla on Sunday in La Liga, with three fans arrested by Spanish police on Tuesday. Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea activated the racism protocol after Vinicius squared off with fans, singling out one whom he saw abuse him.

FIFA's three-step process involves the match being paused until a stadium announcement is made asking for racist abuse to stop, which happened at Mestalla.

The second step, after any further abuse, is to temporarily take players off the pitch and the third step, if it continues, is to abandon the game and give three points to the opposition.

"The protocol is obsolete. The protocol had to be applied when the team bus reached the stadium, because the insults started there," Ancelotti told reporters.

"Two hours before the game, and it was not an isolated case - someone from Valencia said it was - sure, it was not 46,000 people but it was not one or two."

Video emerged Monday of Valencia fans chanting "Vinicius, you are a monkey," when Real Madrid arrived at Mestalla.

"The protocol has to start there. If you start the protocol in the 70th minute, you have made a mistake. It has to start two hours before the game, and then during the game. It's obsolete, yes," continued Ancelotti.

Vinicius was sent off later in the game for hitting Valencia's Hugo Duro and will not be able to face Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday. Ancelotti said the player did not train on Tuesday because he felt some knee discomfort.

The striker said Spain was viewed as a "racist country" in a statement he made on Instagram late on Sunday, which Ancelotti disagreed with, but he called for drastic action to combat racism.

"Spain is not racist, I have to say that too, but there is racism in Spain, like in other places and that has to end. It's a moment to take drastic measures. Institutions have chances, above all now, to take radical measures on this important subject," Ancelotti said.

Sports › Arsenal Join Barcelona In Race For Gundogan by plethora007(op): 10:54am On May 23, 2023
One of those who will make headlines in the next transfer window will be Gundogan. The German midfielder, whose contract expires on 30th June, has not yet decided whether he will remain at Manchester City or leave the club.

Barca are keen to bring the player in, but Arsenal are also worth mentioning. As reported by 'The Athletic', Mikel Arteta is pushing for the player this summer.

The Gunners seem willing to go all out, especially knowing that the coach coincided with the German when the Basque was Guardiola's right-hand man at City. The two know each other and that could be an advantage for the Londoners.

Granit Xhaka is close to leaving the Emirates Stadium side, so a guaranteed replacement is needed. In the meantime, Gundogan continues to add titles to his trophy cabinet after his recent Premier League triumph.

He still has the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan ahead of him. The treble is on the horizon and the player will certainly try to achieve it.

Sports › Man Utd's Casemiro Backs Vinicius: "La Liga Must Urgently Take Exemplary Measure by plethora007(op): 10:34am On May 23, 2023
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has decided to support his Brazil teammate Vinicius Jr on Twitter to show his disagreement towards the racist insults he received at the Mestalla stadium.

"I feel disappointed and very sad to see, ashamed, how episodes of racism with my teammate Vinicius Junior are repeated," he began.

"We cannot continue to tolerate this problem that transcends sport, affects all of society and goes unpunished. Public condemnation is not enough, punishment is needed.

"La Liga must urgently take exemplary measures, because these repeated incidents of racism tarnish the image not only of Spanish football, but also of the whole of world football. And the feeling must be unanimous: zero tolerance."

Sports › War Of Words Between Vinicius And La Liga President Tebas by plethora007(op): 1:41pm On May 22, 2023
Javier Tebas assured that "neither Spain nor La Liga are racist", in response to a message from Brazilian Vinicius, in which the Brazilian player of Madrid claimed that the image of the competition is "shaky" and that the president, instead of criticising racists, lashes out against him.

"Instead of criticising racists, La Liga's president appears on social media to attack me. No matter how much he talks and pretends not to read, the image of his competition is shaky," the striker responded in a thread of tweets with Tebas on Sunday night after the incidents at Mestalla, where the striker identified a fan who insulted him from the stands and referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea activated the anti-racism protocol.

The president of LaLiga once again responded publicly to the Madrid player and his accusations with four points in his arguments. "Neither Spain nor La Liga are racist, it is very unfair to say that," he began.

"From La Liga we denounce and prosecute racism with all the harshness within our competences. Nine racist insults have been reported this season (eight of them have been for insults against Vinicius). We always identify the troublemakers and take the complaint to the sanctioning bodies. It doesn't matter how few there are, we are always relentless," he added.

Finally, Tebas defended the work being done in La Liga, which has increased the presence of workers in the stadiums to report insults, disrespect for the opposition and any incidents that occur in the stands. Doubling the presence of staff at Madrid matches following the Vinícius incident in several cities.

"We cannot allow this to tarnish the image of a competition that is above all a symbol of unity between peoples, where more than 200 black players in 42 clubs receive the respect and affection of all the fans every matchday, with racism being an extremely specific case (9 complaints) that we will eradicate," he said.

Sports › Madrid Press Charges After Racism Against Vinicius by plethora007(op): 1:06pm On May 22, 2023
On Sunday, we were witnesses to something we should never have to be in modern-day society. Vinicius Jr was racially abused before and during Real Madrid's game against Valencia at the Mestalla ground.

In reponse to what happened, Real Madrid have released a club statement strongly condemning what happened, and even announcing they will be pressing charges.

"Real Madrid C. F. strongly condemns the events that took place yesterday against our player Vinícius Junior. These events represent a direct attack on the social and democratic model of coexistence of our State based on the rule of law.", Los Blancos started.

"Real Madrid believes that such attacks also constitute a hate crime, and has therefore filed the corresponding report with the Attorney General's Office, specifically with the Prosecutor's Office against crimes of hatred and discrimination, in order for the facts to be investigated and for those responsible to be held accountable."

The Spanish side then went into more detail, explaining that "Article 124 of the Spanish Consitution establishes the Department of Justice with the role of promoting justice in the defence of the law and the rights of its citizens and in public interest".

"Given the seriousness of the events that took place, Real Madrid has appealed to the Attorney General's Office, without prejudice to its standing as a private prosecutor in any proceedings that may be initiated.".

One common thread between the two is the eternal comparison: who is better, Ronaldo or Messi, and who has scored more goals? BeSoccer Pro answers these questions with its up-to-date and detailed data.

Club goals: Messi vs Ronaldo
Looking at club matches only, the gap is much narrower. The player from Rosario has managed to score 703 goals and provided 295 assists. That is to say, 998 are the ones he has produced directly. All this in a total of 850 matches.

How many does Cristiano stand on? Well, the Portuguese, after a total of 966 games spread between Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Sadd, has scored 714 goals and provided 180 assists. All in all, 894 goals generated.

Therefore, it remains that Messi, despite having played fewer games, has been involved in 100 more goals more than the Portuguese.

Sports › Exchange Of Words Between Guardiola And Vinicius: "Do You Play?" by plethora007(op): 10:09pm On May 18, 2023
Manchester City thrashed Real Madrid from the first minute of the game. As Dani Carvajal said on the pitch after the final whistle, the English team "subdued" the last Champions League winners and knocked them out of their favourite competition.

One of the issues that the home side improved a lot, compared to what they had shown in the first leg, was Vinicius Junior's marking. The Brazilian was stopped in almost every individual duel against Kyle Walker and was unable to dribble past the right-back.

Without going any further, Pep Guardiola also made a move to "provoke" the Brazilian winger and, when he had him just a few metres away, he said a curious phrase during the first few minutes of the match.

Just before Bernardo Silva scored the first goal, the Catalan coach went up to Vinicius and boasted about Manchester City's superiority against Madrid: "Do you play?" the Catalan asked, as caught on 'Movistar' cameras.

The Brazilian, far from getting into controversy, responded with humour saying "now we play", and then broke off laughing with Guardiola, who held out his arm to greet him. A great moment at the Etihad.

Sports › Man Utd, Real Madrid's Potential Competitor For Mbappe by plethora007(op): 8:34pm On May 18, 2023
Real Madrid are not going to go for Kylian Mbappe this summer. Real Madrid are not willing to drop a single euro, or even negotiate with Paris Saint-Germain, to sign the French striker.

The French star's contract with the Parisian side expires in June 2025 and the 'Merengues' are willing to wait until that date. However, according to the 'Daily Express', Manchester United could enter the bidding for the player.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has improved his offer to take control of the Glazer family's Red Devils. If the deal is finally completed, Mbappe's arrival at Old Trafford could gain momentum.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's big target in the summer that is about to begin is Jude Bellingham, with whom they already have an agreement in place. And paying for Mbappe is not in the 'Merengues' plans.

The 20-year-old French midfielder has become a key figure for Carlo Ancelotti's reigning European champion and an injury would have been a big setback for the semi-final second leg at the Etihad on Wednesday.

Ancelotti soothed Madrid fears in his post game news conference, saying Camavinga twisted his knee but it would heal quickly and was not a worry. Spanish media reports since have reflected that Camavinga will be fit, with the tie on a knife edge after the first leg finished 1-1 last Tuesday.

Camavinga played a key role in Vinicius Junior's brilliant strike in that game, charging up the pitch from left-back to help Madrid take the lead in the first half.

The Frenchman exchanged passes with Luka Modric to break free of City's press and carried the ball down to the other end, before feeding his Brazilian teammate. However Camavinga was also partly to blame for City's equaliser, with his pass intercepted before Kevin De Bruyne hammered home.

Playing on the left of the defence, instead of his natural centre-midfield position, means Camavinga does occasionally make mistakes, but is becoming more reliable game by game - even if he would prefer to be deployed elsewhere.

"The most important thing is to help the team, and today I did that again, but no, it still isn't my position," he said, after helping Madrid see off Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Sports › "If Arsenal Had Signed Ronaldo When He Left Man Utd, They Would Have Won The EPL by plethora007(op): 2:39pm On May 16, 2023
Cristiano Ronaldo said that he felt betrayed by Manchester United in an interview with TV presenter Pìers Morgan. As a result, the English side confirmed his departure and the Portugal international signed for Saudi club Al Nassr.

Piers Morgan has once again spoken out about Ronaldo on social media and suggested that Arsenal could have won the Premier League title if they had taken advantage of the striker's situation.

"Mock all you like, but if we'd signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season - as he was keen to do btw - we would have won the League. He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters," he wrote on Twitter.

Arteta's side are expected to finish second in the title race despite a superb form throughout the season. They are likely to see their dreams dashed by Manchester City, who are top of the table on 85 points.

The English broadcaster thinks the Gunners were not astute in not signing the 38-year-old when he left Old Trafford and missed a great opportunity.

Sports › Messi's Team Deny Agreement, Will Make Decision At The End Of The Season by plethora007(op): 6:02pm On May 09, 2023
The official spokesperson representing Leo Messi insisted once again to 'EFE' that the star's future won't be decided until the end of the season, as the Argentinian's departure from PSG continues making headlines in and out of France.

The theoretical departure of the star to sign for Saudi side Al-Hilal has been gaining momentum, according to several media outlets, even as his team continue to express the unhappiness this causes the footballer. 'L'Equipe' online claim the the striker has a verbal agreement with Saudi Arabia, but nothing signed for the moment, as the player doesn't want to before the end of the season.

Citing the Argentinian's team, the agreement would include two years under contract with another one optional, for a sum of 500 million euros a year, two and a half times more than the agreement signed by Cristiano Ronaldo. If other bonuses are added, Messi could bag somewhere in the region of 600 million euros.

'L'Equipe' added, citing close sources, that Messi, who turns 36 next month, wants to stay fit to compete in the Copa America 2024, and hopefully the World Cup in 2026, which would likely mean him staying to play with a European club. Nothing decided, in short.

Barcelona in the wings
For Barcelona, who are in the running to bring back the striker from Rosario, time is of the essence, as La Liga will decide next week whether it accepts the Spanish side's plans to bring themselves in line with 'Financial Fair Play' rules and allow them to make new additions in the summer transfer window.

For those in the Camp Nou offices, no surprises came with the rumours of a possible agreement reached between Al-Hilal and the Argentinian international, with figures available only to the richest clubs, that reported at least 400 million for the number '10' - putting him well out of reach of Barca.

In fact, last week Messi visited Saudi Arabia with his children, to make good on an agreement with the Saudi office of tourism. An ambassador of the country, his visit created all kinds of speculation about his future, as well as a fine from PSG for missing training without an agreement.

The hypothetical arrival in the Middle East would also most likely lead to the departure of Sergio Busquets, Barcelona's captain and close friend to Messi. The midfielder from Badia del Valles, 34 years old, is out of contract at the end of next June and has an offer of renewal from the Spanish club.

Everything seems to indicate that he would follow in his teammate's footsteps. Despite rumours of a move to Saudi Arabia, from the French press and the international scene now too, those closest to Messi continue to insist that no decision has been made yet.

Now on an Instagram story, Messi's father has stated, "There is no agreement at all with any club for next year. There is no way that decision will be taken until Lionel finishes his season with PSG"

Whether it's decided now or in June, if Messi moves to the Saudi club, it could reignite the rivalry between the Argentinian and Cristiano Ronaldo, one at Al-Hilal, the other at Al Nassr - bringing the battle to the Persian Gulf.

Sports › "We're Not Here For Revenge" - Guardiola by plethora007(op): 8:23am On May 09, 2023
Tonight is the crunch tie we've all been waiting for. Real Madrid play host to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final first leg. After his side arrived in Madrid on Monday afternoon, City coach Pep Guardiola faced the world's press ahead of the game.

In a press conference which was dominated by questions on last year's match-up between the two, the Spanish manager remained focused on this year, saying "we're not here for revenge just an opportunity. One day we will win it".

It remains to be seen if City's men can mentally put last year's crestfalling result behind them for Tuesday's game, though. For Guardiola, that won't be the deciding factor, with the second leg in Machester being the key to getting to the final: "Everything will be decided in Manchester".

The City boss certainly did not seem phased by the prospect of being put out by the same side in consecutive years in the tournament the club has been so desperate to win, saying "we arrive here with encouragement... We congratulated Real and now we are back".

He ended the press conference by hailing Madrid, saying "there's much more than Vinicius", before finishing by admitting that "I don't know what will happen this time" ahead of one of the side's biggest games this season.

Sports › Man City's Ake To Miss First Leg Against Madrid by plethora007(op): 1:41pm On May 08, 2023
Nathan Ake was the notable absentee from Manchester City's final training session on Monday before they travel to face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.

The Dutch centre-back was injured this weekend, in the Premier League match against Leeds United, and had to be substituted after 50 minutes. It is the second muscle injury he has suffered in the last two weeks and has prevented him from training with the rest of his teammates.

This leaves Pep Guardiola without one of his first-choice centre-backs in the back three. However, this will allow Kyle Walker to come in as a centre-back on the right and Manuel Akanji to move to the left. The pace of the '2' could be crucial in stopping Vinicius.

The Spanish coach has the rest of his players available, including Kevin de Bruyne, who played the full 90 minutes against Leeds United after missing the last two games through injury. Manchester City travel to Madrid this afternoon, where Pep Guardiola will hold a pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday's clash.

Sports › Man City Spoil Allardyce's Return And Edge Closer To Title by plethora007(op): 6:36pm On May 06, 2023
Ilkay Gundogan struck twice before half-time and missed a penalty as City made it 14 consecutive wins at the Etihad in 2023. But the home side were made to suffer a far more nervy finale than necessary after Rodrigo pulled a goal back five minutes from time. Pep Guardiola was far from happy after Erling Haaland gave Gundogan the chance to seal his hat-trick from the spot rather than taking responsibility six minutes from time.

That rounded off a rare poor day for Haaland, who missed a number of chances to add to his 51 goals in all competitions this season. City's far superior goal difference over Arsenal means Guardiola's men likely need a maximum of eight points from their last four games to claim a fifth league title in six seasons. Sam Allardyce's return to the dugout had no immediate impact in reviving Leeds' fortunes as they remain outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Allardyce made the remarkable claim in midweek that he was "as good" as Guardiola after being appointed for the final four games of the season. But the former England boss was quickly teased with chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" as the visitors failed to offer any resistance to wave upon wave of City attack early on. After the English national anthem was played just prior to kick-off to mark the coronation of King Charles III, the game quickly turned into a procession.

Guardiola could even afford the luxury of making seven changes with one eye on Tuesday's trip to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals. Gundogan was one of those brought back into the side as John Stones, Ruben Dias, Rodri, Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva were among those handed a rest. Leeds were lucky to last until 19 minutes without conceding as Haaland fired his first big chance into the chest of goalkeeper Joel Robles, who was brought in by Allardyce to replace Illan Meslier.

Sports › BREAKING: Messi Apologises For Saudi Trip by plethora007(op): 7:24am On May 06, 2023
PSG star Lionel Messi was recently in Saudi Arabia, travelling there after his side's 3-1 home defeat to Lorient, flying to the Middle Eastern country to fulfill commercial commitments. Because of the trip, the Argentine missed training on the Monday, therefore sparking outrage amongst fans and his club alike. Tuesday was the side's normal day off, meaning he was absent that day too, and Wednesday didn't see the World Cup winner either, supposedly due to the same reason.

In response to his actions, Paris Saint-Germain then suspended the player for two weeks, as the club had not officially given him permission to carry out the trip. As a result, Parisian ultras were seen to be protesting against him and teammate Neymar, prompting yet questions over his future, indlugin several reports confirming the Argentine will be leaving the French side this summer.

In response to the recent uproar over his actions, he recorded a video message for his Instagram story, explaining his lament for upsetting his club and teammates. Messi also explained that he thought the side had been granted a day off, just like they usually had been by Galtier. Of course, this time this was not the case, which has ended up being the catalyst for the following apology:

"Hello, I wanted to make this video following what has happened. I wanted to apologise to my teammates and the club. I thought we were going to have a day off after the game like had always been the case. I had organised the trip to Saudi Arabia and I couldn't cancel it. I'd like to apologise to my teammates and I'm awaiting what the club sees fit", he said on Instagram.
