I will like to contribute to this movement by dropping my own experience

I landed Canada 7th Nov 2024
POE was smooth, no questions about my pregnancy whatsoever.
I traveled at 31weeks 6days but my belly was like I was 40weeks gone cos I was having twins. So I guess they just didn’t care about it or my God was not sleeping 😁
I came in with my mom and they just wanted to know who we would be staying with and if we have visited before.

I stayed at Milton with relative so no no accommodation expenses
As for getting a doctor, we just walked into one of the doctors office close by, she was even Nigerian, sent me for tests and scan. She referred me to the hospital where I gave birth (credit Valley)


Breakdown
I can’t remember the exact figures of all amount paid.
Family doctor fee- 60 (every visit)
Test- 320-400
1st scan at 33wks- 450

So twins pregnancy is considered high risk, so I have to do scan every 2 weeks and I was referred to MFM (maternal fetal medicine) they handle high risk pregnancy

2nd scan at 35wks- $370 (this was done in the hospital I gave birth credit valley mississauga)
Hospital visit- $350
MFM visit- $720
Additional test- $120

Because I was already 35wks the doctor said I didn’t need another visit and would schedule me for delivery at 36wks but I asked her to schedule me for 37wks cos I wanted babies to bake well. For Mono-di Twins, they’re not allowed to go pass 37wks because they share a placenta.

Obgyn- $3000
Hospital fee- $5300

Once the babies were born, OHIP kicked in, so I didn’t have to pay anything for them.

After I got back home this pple still sent me additional bill of $750 for pathology 🤧🥴😩 I paid with tears

I applied for birth certificate and one was processed and the second twins own wasn’t processed, had to raise a request for it to be treated immediately as we are traveling back soon. Birth certificate came, passport now decided to be unfortunate. Made the mistake of going to mississauga passport office, the crowd and queue was something else. The office is in a mall, but the queue started from outside the mall and it was during winter 🥶

I submitted the request but because my hubby was in naija he had to go to Canada high commission to sign.
PS- if your husband is not with you, the moment you put to birth or even earlier try and book the appointment for him to sign.
I was supposed to travel back Feb 3rd, the only available appointment date was in March. We had to send them email appealing for a closer date with travel documents and still the date they gave us was Feb 6th, so I had to move my travel date.

The journey wasn’t easy but I met an awesome mom @aprilborn here and we literally went through the whole process together sharing ideas and information, having her made the whole journey easier.

Doctors appointment is not easy to come by. I googled all the obgyns in the area I'm staying, and started calling them one by one. I'm sure I called up to 40 or 50. Most will go to voicemail, a lot of others will tell you they dont accept patients without insurance, only a few will respond favourably.

One told me point blank they cant give me anything till I'm in the country. I was lucky to find one who responded to my email, and gave me an appointment. This was for Ontario area though, I'm not sure how it works in Calgary, etc.

For my first US visa (2022) I was approved on an 18 month old ds160. I was ignorant of the expiry and no one complained at the interview. These things are not as hard as people think. They are human beings and somethings are permissible. I don’t believe the “losing value/respect” thesis.

Should you update the ds160 when it’s about expire? YES!

At 6 - 11 months, NO!

Greetings.
A submitted DS-160 is valid for one year, and your 5 - month old DS-160 is still in tandem with the U.S embassy acceptance policy.

But, from 6 - Month old, a submitted DS-160 will begin to lose respect (sorry for the personification) in the eyes of the U.S. embassy because they believe that some of your circumstances must have changed and might need to be updated.

■ Hence, you are even expected to go with a recent passport photo that is not more than 6 months when attending your visa interview. 🙄

You can Reschedule 2 times on this new portal and you would not need to pay another Visa fee for this.

Good day all. Please how many date reschedules are permitted currently on the AVITS portal? If I select a date, can I reschedule to another date without paying another visa fee. Thank you.

Yes, on the AVITS portal. The ticket was on hold as well. I just kept checking until I noticed the issue was resolved.

When do you get that error? Is it while scheduling appointment or rescheduling?

Thank you so much for your response. Did you raise the ticket on the AVITS support portal? The ticket I raised there for this issue has been on hold for over a month now.

The person do not have to pay again. I experienced same issue, raised a ticket and it was resolved in like 3 weeks.

People should not be rushing to make another payment after encountering challenges on the AVITS site. US Embassy themselves admonish people on this. Raise a ticket and be patient, as there's a lot of traffic. A lot of people are applying and facing issues.

So just the same way, you'll stay on queue for appointment date, is the way you'll stay on queue to have your issues resolved. Rushing to make another payment, when you'll still be on queue for appointment date does not sound smart.

Follow the voice prompt like you want to change your user password, it will mention an option to speak with a support agent, choose it. Discuss this with the support person and ask direct questions like what has been done on the requests raised since, what is the current action at the moment, when should you expect a resolution?

I understand you may have done this previously but try again as you may be lucky to speak with a support staff who actually understands ur plight, understands English and may be willing to assist. Majority of the support guys dont know what they are doing or better still put they are acting based on given instruction.

This us visa stuff issa whole racket ! You’ll unfortunately just have to pay the visa fee again .Thats what they want .

I am also having this same "Receipt Not Found" issue. Please let me know if you solve it. Support and the NIV emails are not helping. They put my support ticket on hold for over a month now.

I truly sorry if i disturb you guys in anyway.... but i still have issue with appointment booking
i paid my visa fee with GTB since May 2nd, 2024 before the migration... due to what i can not possibly explain here... i was unable to book and appointment till now...
i have raised ticket and no response....
Recently i tried booking a fresh appointment and after filling processing i was asked to input my payment receipt number which i did.
After putting the number there is what i got...

Please i am running out of time and options
Please someone should help me out!!!
