In 2001 nd made my ssce in 2002 nd since den I av been writtin JAMB but no way. I scored d 269 in UTME in 2010 which is d highest I av ever scored. I registrd 4 p-UTME nd a day 2 d p-utme somtin happend-i missd d exam. To cut d story short, dis year, I scored 59.88. Though, I didn't meet up with d merit bt I beat many of d catchmnts
cut off wich some of 'em r as low as 57.00 bt unfortunately, I'm nt 4rm any of d catchmnt. I'm so ashamed of myself dat I can't even tell anybody again dat I'm stil writtin JAMB-i do it secretly. People dat I used to teach av graduated. I av cried but stil preached for myself. I av seen som1 dat finish his NYSC nd ws comin back 2 lagos nd he got to Lagos safely bt jst to take a bike 2 his house, he fell 4rm d bike nd a bus ran over him. I'm not mocking him bt dat we nid 2 b thnkfl 2 God. He knows no one else knows. I never 1nted 2 share dis bt ur story is also touching. Dnt giv up, He can stil do it 4 u nd every one of us. Tk care.

My frnds you're not alone on this track. I av been there and done dat. I graduated in 2001 but had a string of repeated O'level exams because all subjects came through but English D7. It was something relative to vicious cycle. I had my resilience to thank for not giving up on education completely, may be excuses like “ Not everybody must attend the University “ sounded appropriate. I had to summon courage to enroll for ssce in 2006 to get a clean slate. I gave up on Nigeria Education after writing jamb and various attempts to gain admission proved futile. I started trying new things, I applied for admission in Sweden and gain admission easily on three occasions but failed short with the Embassy financial requirements. I came back to Nigerian terrain last yrs. I applied for Physiotherapy and got 64 and was sky sure that I’ll be admitted since the previous yr’s cutoff was 58. I was shell shocked when the cut off came out and I was 4 points shy. I tried again this yr, nevertheless I took a smarter decision by going for a lower course Cell Bio n Gen, lo and behold the cutoff came out and I made it, I had 59.38 aggrt. It’s not a walk the park for me by any stretch of imagination but my frnds don’t lose hope…I felt exactly like you couple months ago. Keep believing. I hope u r encouraged by this…it’s aint over.

It ought to be d ideal situation if it were other schools but unilag is different. Unilag is so competitive dat the only realistic chance for admission is to come in on merit. Some times you get d impression that they conduct admssion to fulfil all righteousness because once the merit list is out every other list is a sham. it's so because there's a lot of vested interests ranging from staff, politician, traditional rules etc. So my dear if u hv "long legs" you cn still get in. long sigh*

dermiesarah: Last year cut off for geo edu was 51,the applicants for geo edu this year are just 43, how come the cut off for this year becomes 58.88?...I had 52.25 for this course but unilag is breaking my heart...I wish the cut off can be reviewed!

cutoffs are candidates performance dependant...it's true the number were few but i thought there performances was a notch higher, the reason for high cutoff.

scrutinizing the admission list is a routine thing, however dont get any funny idea that they're being asked specific questions like why so n so name was not on d list.

It has metamorphosed to Cell biology n genetics, there's nothing like biology again. however if ur aggrt was up to d cutoff u could be given admission fingers crossed.

I'm a bit unsettled wit wat i could call "Bad decision" by a whole lot of my fellow jambites who should be celebrating d evasive admission to unilag. Behind every hiss of failed admission, there's a smile of secured cutoff. your seemingly low aggregate is a merit for some courses. At this critical juncture a lot ppl will sacrifice anything to get any Education course. Why not go for it from the onset. To be continued...

nothing to worry about bro... wait until the merit list is out. however i thot they did it as counter measure fr "upgraders"....Furthermore, if you study the cutoffs very well they're exact aggr points recorded by various candidates, it couldn't av been only postume score. by d way wat's ur score?

if you're insisting on Unilag, it not a realistic option to take considering your score.Even if u bought the form it's still going to be a futile effort, however if u hv connections, anything is possible.

your score is a bit off mark, the least edu cutoff is 55. however if you hv some connections may be you cn choose betwn Bus Edu and Edu Econs. Cheers

I scored 57.63 creative art and the merit cut off is 59.38 but my catchment area is Ogun state which is 57.50. You what? I was in ur shoes lst yr. I missed physiotherapy by whisckers. just 2 points shy. This yr i got smarter i chose a lower course cell bio n genetics n i av gotten in. it's a model for a very one.....dont insist on a particular course.

You skiped checking d number of ppl dat applied for various courses.besides scores u see on nairaland does not constitute d entire number ppl dat applied for various courses.
