A tragic and alarming incident occurred on Monday at a military checkpoint in Lagos State, where a mentally unstable man allegedly killed a soldier after seizing his rifle and opening fire.

The shocking event unfolded in the Agbowa community along the Ikorodu Expressway.

Witnesses reported that the attacker approached the checkpoint without warning, overpowered the soldier on duty, took his weapon, and fired, resulting in the soldier’s death.

“An insane man snatched a military man’s rifle and shot him dead at a check point. It happened at Adeogun bridge in Agbowa,” a police source told SaharaReporters.

Calls put across to the Lagos State command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi were not picked nor returned.

How did a mentally unstable man disarm a soldier? Even if the man have legions of demons in him, what were the soldier's colleagues doing or was he the only personnel in that checkpoint?

So, the Commander in Chief will ask an ordinary sub leautenant to vacate a premises, and he will refuse? Even his CNS will deny him in that scenario.

A senior officer using military power for land grabbing is no no.

Same applies to the military officers.

A lot of people supporting the Soldier do not like Wike, hence they speak from the side of hatred.

The young officer might be following orders, but CNS should be ashamed of himself, and the superior officer who gave that order on behalf of the ex CNS should be queried.

An ex CNS should not retain the power to deploy Nigerian Soldiers at do his "dirty private job"
By the way, these officers are paid with taxpayers money, and they ought to be loyal to the Nigerian government, and the Nigerian people rather than an ex CNS.

I am afraid that is not true. We are all brutish at the base. It is not peculiar to anyone, unless when emboldened by religion and the absence of punishments.

They used to get away with all sorts of violence in the north. Massacres ontop Massacres. It lasted for years. Shariah riots under Obasanjo claimed nearly ten thousands lives! No one was sent to jail for that. Remember when Gideon Akaluka was beheaded at Kano and his skull put on a spike!? No one was arrested nor prosecuted for that. Remember the lady that was stoned to death in Sokoto? No one was arrested over that.

As long as you refuse to punish criminal offenders for their violent crimes, they will not stop. You need to make very rigid laws and make sure that the application is perfect. Send someone to the firing squad for murder and others around him will fall in line...
