For Those who are new to the Drupal development world:

As part of the contribution to help our followers in building on the web, here is a quick guide to installing Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 on your system for absolute beginners. There are other ways of doing it as well.

1. Go to Drupal.org and get yourself a download copy of Drupal file which is in tar.gz and zip format

2. If running WAMP, place your copy in the wamp/www directory usually in c:/wamp if you didn't change the directory during installation else if you XAMPP, place a copy in xampp/htdocs directory

3. Unzip the downloaded file. For zip format it will give you drupal7.x/ directory for Drupal 7 and drupal8.x/ directory for Drupal 8

4. Rename the directory to the name of your project. For simplicity, let your name mimic the exact domain name e.g drupalnigeria, gtbank etc

5. Open your Web browser (Firefox is great for development) and point your browser to localhost/nameofsite e.g. localhost/gtbank then open another tab and go to localhost/phpmyadmin

Note: if running wamp, make sure the icon at the Taskbar on the right of your screen is green else if using xampp make sure apache and mysql is running (if you have any problem settings that up, let us know)

6. When your phpmyadmin is open, click on database and type in your database name. A simple convention maybe db_nameofwebsite e.g. db_gtbank or d7_gtbank, d8_gtbank or better still just gtbank. Note here that giving your database name the exact name as your site name helps you identify your database of the site you are working on.

7. Take note in naming of databases, it is conventional that it should be one word or words separated with underscore. At this point, go back to your website and run the setup

Note to Drupal 8 website owners, some php.ini settings will be required to complete your installations like xdebug.max_execution settings to 256 instead of using 100 which is the default, also setting opcode for performance (need more information contact us)

8. Run the application using the database name you created. For the username and password, both xampp and wamp comes with a user known as "root" (without the quotes) and a password which is empty. For new users use that to provide access to the database

9. At this stage provide other informations like the site administration username, password, email, timezone, country etc

10. Congratulation you just finished installing Drupal. Go explore

To download the search engine HTML file, visit any of the site’s webmaster tool area by simply going to the following:

Step One

For Google: http:///1IZCOJB
For you to submit your site and get access to the search engine’s HTML file to embed on your site, you must sign up for an account on Google. If you already have an account with them, just sign in and you will be redirected to the page where you can add website.


For Bing: http://binged.it/196R01M
For Bing, you do not need to have an account to submit a website once you visit the link above (Once you are on the page, click on the “submit your site to Bing” option on the right side of the page), but you will need an account to be able to have access to the Bing search engine’s HTML file to be embedded on your page.


Note: Follow the procedure (by going to their site’s webmaster page) above if you wish to get the HTML files for the other search engines such as ASR, Baidu etc.

Proceed to STEP 2-----


Step Two:
After you have added the site and submitted, you will be taken to a next page as seen below:

The same kind of layout on the picture you will find on Bing and some other search engines.


To embed the search engine’s related HTML file directly to your web page, follow the direction with reference to the Search Console picture below:

1. Download the HTML verification file to your PC by clicking on that blue linked “this HTML verification file”.

2. To perform the second step, you can do so in any of the 2 ways:
a) Use FTP software such as Filezilla Client (if you do not have it, you can download it from this link http:///19JzQUT)

b) Go from your Cpanel account
log on to www.yoursite.com/cpanel
Enter your username and password
Once you are there, under the Files section, click on the File manager, & click go
Once you are there, click on the Upload at the top menu.
Once you there, click on the browse, and locate the downloaded search engine HTML file on your PC.
Begin upload… That’s it

3. After uploading the HTML file, go back to the webmaster page and confirm successful submission by clicking on the link provided.

4. Click verify…That’s it. You have now added the HTML file to your website root directory.

After all these, you can subsequently log into the console account of the search engine to see all your web searches, visit and SEO (Search engine Optimization) analysis.
